PS4 Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

As an owner of both I agree very much with KZ:SF.. It probably wouldn't have been so bad had there been more fights placed along the way or even respawning enemies? When I get sidetracked and am working my way back to where I need to go I can easily go 5+ minutes without shooting my gun which is very... boring.

I got the feeling that the game have large maps, but not nice explored.

So even though I got a launch day console here in the UK, i've only played 15 minutes of KZ, due to it being a Christmas present for my step son. Installed the update so hopefully we don't have to wait ages for it to update before being able to play anything (Crap connection)

But man it's killing me knowing that it's sat upstairs and I can't play on it until most likely boxing day, since we are hosting the big family dinner this year and i'll be busy in the kitchen all day!!

Bit shocked by how bad the first 15 mins of KZ were though, such bad acting and character animation...looked nice though!

I'll just keep trawling the picture threads until my time comes!

What download percentage does a game have to get to to play it as you download?

Downloading KZF off PSN and it said I could play as I download it, but I cant.

For some reason, the PSN webstore didn't show Flower (PS3) as purchased as my other games do. It offered me to redownload it, though.

On my PS4, it wasn't in my library, so I went to the store where I was able to download it for free. However, now there are three separate items in my download list: Flower for PS3 and Vita (473MB), Flower for PS3 (627MB), and Flower for PS4 (694MB). All with a purchasing date of today. Is this how it's supposed to be? Shouldn't there be a single items for all three platforms?

Since after PS1 I've always been a PC gamer, and never really cared about achievements.

Now I'm hooked. Having a lot of fun trying to platinum every game that I have!

I hate the new thumbsticks with a passion. Miss the thumbsticks of the DS3 my thumb keeps slipping especially the left stick.

The small minority of people who prefer the DS3's sticks to the PS4's sticks will never cease to baffle me.

Maybe some people aren't good at dealing with the adjustment period?

in Greece at 13th December can't wait follks

Totally worth the wait. You're in for a treat. The OS alone is just a pleasure and actually my fave thing about the PS4. So fast, simple and usable. Being able to connect your phone/Vita for certain things is so cool. Being able to watch and upload your own streams so simply is a lot of fun. Then there's the games. Lots to look forward to.

What's the chat with kz:s? I got to chapter 3 and quit out expecting it to have saved but it has put me all the wAy back to the beginning of chapter 2. The bit at te ridge before you wen have ammo. Very off putting. Can't be bothered playin it again.

The save system (or lack of it) is fucking awful. I hope they patch one in, because like you said it's very off-putting.

I don't know what they were thinking.

PSN seems to like turning to shit on Friday and Saturday nights on PS4, I had a whole heap of errors and things not working or loading yesterday, and today I can't create a party to just talk with my friend without it giving me another error.

I understand there might be a heavy load around this time, but its frustrating I can't just do something simple.

Not bored of the ps4 as such, Just thought I would have played it more than I currently have. Im pretty sure that's game related tho and will be that way for awhile it seems.

The lady friend hates the material they used on the sticks, says it makes her skin crawl.

Went to a Best Buy today, the topping of the left analog has been worn down to the plastic underneath. I kinda chuckled at all the talk about the sticks getting worn down on demo units, but seeing it for myself kinda surprised me. Has anyone actually had this happen to their own DS4 yet?

Left stick on my PS4 is not as grippy as the right stick anymore. Kinda slippery actually.

I would imagine you could swap the sticks (just the plastic caps, not the entire assembly) over from the ds3 if you really wanted. I moved the 360 sticks to a ds3 and all it took was a little chop to lower the profile a bit.

No, they're still considered separate games.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?

Cool. I think the file size difference is because the cutscenes are uncompressed. Except for the 60fps, that's the other best improvement to the game.

Guys,

I need some advice, my PS4 just arrived, and I am looking for recommendations on shooters to play on winter break. I can only by one, here is my thought process so far:

KZSF: Haven't ever played a killzone game, what is it like, can I understand the story without playing the others.

BF4: I really REALLY wanted to get this game, but with all the freezing and loosing saved games I am not sure... I am big into campaigns, and this one looked amazing.

GHOSTS: Not sure about this one, I enjoy COD campaigns but how are the multiplayer maps? Are they comparable to older COD games?

What do you guys think, what game would you recommend from the three here?

I'd say Battlefield. It's still buggy but when it works, it's very fun. Especially if you have people to play with.

Killzone is like Call of Duty (WW2 version) mixed with Metal Gear (for fiction, vehicles, etc). You can understand the main story line without playing the others, but it has character references to past games and themes (or lack thereof) would be better understood with playing the others.

BF: I just thought the campaign was decent, but a tad better than killzone. I actually think I liked 3 better there.

COD: Haven't played yet

How long was the battlefield campaign? And did either of you guys run into the glitch of loosing your saved game? And I hope to play with gaffers once I have it up and running!

Probably 6-7 hours, I'd guess? And my game save was erased, but that was before any stability patches. My second save lasted over the 3 days I played through it

I've lost the campaign at least once, and I think twice. Now I just upload it to the cloud after I've played.

NFS:Rivals for PS3 is cheap in the 12 deals of Christmas sale, is it possible to buy it then upgrade it to the PS4 version?

No... none.
Yeah, I was concerned if it could be something I should worry, but when I turned the PS4 on, it was everything normal.

Maybe it was just an indication that the game finished to download, and the console would go to the cold state (it was still warm). My internet download at 1mb per second, it was downloaded 38gb in 12 hours, by the time downloads usually takes I think its possible that concidentally the download just finished when I looked at the console.

Im just not really sure... would like to see a confirmation about it.
I googled it, but cant find anything about those blinking lights (except for the blue and red light).
pretty sure it just means it's working in the background ala don't pull the plug right now.

Managed to walk into a Wal Mart and score a PS4 for my brother in law. He is going to be so excited come Christmas. Can't wait to try it out myself. I'm personally waiting until next spring until I get one.

Yesterday at, almost midnight, I started my Killzone Shadow Fall download. Then, I put my PS4 in standby... Now, midday, I woke up and then when I looked at my PS4 the orange light was blinkning (kind smoothly by the way).

A bit concerned, I turned the console on... the boot was made normally and Killzone Shadow Fall completed its download. So, no strange behavior.

Any clue what should mean the orange light blinking indicator?
I thought that maybe, the console coincidetally, has finished the download at the same time I look at it and than the light was indicating that it would go to a cold state (once, when its downloading, it is still "working").

I still need to understand all of these blinking lights indicators.
I've deduced that this is activity during standby, eg download, upload, notifications. Have seen it a couple of time and have turned the system on and checked notifications to see time stamped actions matching up.

You might have had Sony reset your password for you - happened to a bunch of us on Vita a couple of weeks ago and I only noticed it as I couldn't get to the store.

FIFA hacking is doing the rounds again, hence the preemptive password resets.

What if i changed my password? They sent me an email to change it and I did. Afterwards when i turned on my ps4, it automatically signed in. Not sure if it changed or not.

What is this FIFA hacking? I only ask because I got it a few nights ago and have started playing - do I need to be aware of anything? I only play career at the moment?

Do we know of any indie/PSN games coming out in December? Need to get myself something on the PS4 for the holidays I guess haha

Doesn't seem to be much in the way of confirmed release dates but I think Minecraft and Fez are strong possibilities. Hopefully some new stuff too.

Lack of indie titles has been a bit of a let down for me, expected more at launch tbh. Next year should be good though.

People compromising your PSN account and payment method, use FIFA to buy Ultimate Team point packs for (your) real money that they then distribute to other FIFA accounts/re-sell for money.

So I'm coming home from Uni today and my brother has got a ps4. I'm thinking about picking up a retail game on the way since the only thing he bought is cod which I have no desire to play. I'm considering killzone or AC:4, but I'm wary of both. Killzone looks fantastic but my impression is people didn't really like the campaign., is the mutilplayer good? AC I am biased against because I absolutely hated last years game, but I've heard enough people say this one is a lot better that I'm starting to come around. Did they fix the problems with 3's terrible UI and mission design? Did they make the traversal fun again?

Honestly I wouldn't buy either of these games on PS3 which is perhaps telling, but since I don't have a pc I am eager to try something 'next gen'.

any one know how to set DST? network time setting for NZ is an hour behind

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps4/settings/dylightsaving.html

You can set whether to adjust the time for daylight saving. The time will not be adjusted if you remove the checkmark from [Date and Time] > [Adjust Daylight Saving Automatically].
This item is displayed only if the region set under [Date and Time] > [Time Zone] is one that implements daylight saving.
