PS4 Pro boxes getting prepped

Yoshida and Barlog confirmed its on OG PS4 at twitter.

I guess Watch_Dogs and The Witcher 3 wasn't downgraded and No Man's Sky has multiplayer. That's what the devs told us anyways. These companies aren't you're friends, they'll show you anything that will make their product look better.

Actually, I think Sony have been incredibly transparent regarding the Pro so far. Do you have any reason in particular to think that they're lying in this case?

I saw the demo's for Infamous and Horizon in person, switching between 4K and 1080p, SDR and HDR... Both were impressive but HDR blew me away.

The 4K upgrade is obviously great, giant rock pillars in the distance on Horizon went from brown blobs to defined shapes with visible vines on them. Textures popped more. Aliasing went away.

But HDR made all the intricate details in the sky, the lighting in general just pop and it was like clearing a smudge. Such a big difference.

White specs sounds like artifacts from a bad overclock. Running a game at 4k should not cause that, it should display fine at 4k, but frame rate would be really bad. White specs appearing is something else.
I'm talking about white specs appearing as soon as I change my resolution to 4k for my PC. Basically seems like the GPU is struggling. There are not a lot of them, maybe a couple of dozen pixels worth scattered at various points of the screen, that pop up in random places even on a still image they'll just shimmer in and out), switching back to 1080p gets rid of them altogether.

What TV did you get? Sounds odd that the Xbox One S is not playing nice with it.
Which TV you bought that don't work on Xbox one?
The Xbox One S works fine with it aside from HDR which is due to XB1S using 4:2:0 that the TV doesn't handle well at the moment.

I got the Vizio P50-C1. The Vizio CTO who has been regularly communicating with folks over at the avsforums while coming out with firmware updates to fix specific issues, has acknowledged it and has said they are currently working on this issue (and also working on reducing the HDR lag by about 15ms). That update should be dropping sometime in November.

Anyways, my older TV must've had a lower than average color range, because even the SDR content I'm watching on this TV is resolving more detail/displaying more colors (the exact same video files).

Because there's no reason they wouldn't demo the games using the more powerful hardware, and it's not exactly a new practice to do so. Not saying that's actually the case with GoW, just that it's very probable (which is what I said to begin with).

Your GPU is getting too hot under that clock at 4 k that's pretty classic for having the GPU running too high clock even if it's just at 4 k res, it's exactly what you look for when testing clock speeds on gpu

The PS4 Pro wasn't even formally announced until months later. The graphics showcased wasn't anything unfathomable. We've played UC4 already which had ridiculously good looking graphics.

When we consider the kind of graphics Frostbite Engine can pull out of base PS4/XB1 @60-ish FPS, the kind of graphics shown of games at E3 and such... are not really surprising. There's been no game in the past 2 years imo that has shown such a dramatic leap in graphical fidelity that it can't run at 30fps on the PS4.

ps4pro doesn't need deals to be a success?

Initially.

If you saw them in person, I am assuming you were at a Sony sanctioned event/presentation in which case they were using the ZD9 line of 4k TV sets for demonstration. Those are Sony's top of the line 4k sets for this year and when it comes to HDR they are the best of the best where even some reviews saying in HDR it outclasses OLED high end sets.

Future of play tour by any chance?

No one ever claimed that the initial reveals for Watch_Dogs and The Witcher 3 were running on consoles instead of top-of-the-line PCs.

Watch Dogs and Witcher 3 are Sony's first party games??? What NMS's multiplayer has to do with graphical downgrades???

Yo need to back up your claim that GOW 4 was running on PS4 Pro.

How do so many PS4 Pro threads get derailed? I though this thread was about excitement other boxes being prepped and getting ready for PS4 Pro. It's turning into another what if, who, what, where, when, how buzzkill thread.

I'm very curious to see how devs treat standard ps4 games next year. I may end up getting pro this time year next if there's a RDR2 bundle.

If a little plain, I do find it looks better in person.

I was always on the side that the console looks good and probably even better in person.
but GAF told me it is FUGLY and the worst looking console ever :)

Sony does great job with their hardware design, most of the time.

When do you have to send it in by? I know they usually give you a pretty big window for trades.
The 8th but I was planning on sending it the 4. They already credited my account though.

How are you getting that much? I'm only getting $154 for my Uncharted Collection Edition.

The extra controller. Cancel yours and look for the two controller bundle if you have a 2nd controller.

Take the L and move on.

And I find the back a lot tidier!

not that it looks bad in the first place but it looks much better horizontal and without the stand. the stand doesn't fit into the design well imo especially compared to the OG PS4 . consequence of rounding the edges i suppose?

Do you guys thing these will be hard to find mid December? Have a couple weeks off work, and I dont plan on pre-ordering.

Doubt it, it's still a ps4 but just more powerful, don't think all the people that already have a ps4 will be upgrading right away.

Looks like my GF's gonna take my PS4! Now I don't have to worry about trading it in, it'll go into good use instead. Can't wait to grab the Pro now.

I doubt it.
Maybe it will be a bit harder to get during/after Black Friday, but generally it should be available.

Where's the air vents? Or am I blind?
On the side.

Doing the same, which was the biggest reason to upgrade.
GF never had a console, just a PC and Handheld.
It's about time she gets to play some great games, and she is already keeping my VITA as hostage after she tried out Persona and the Digimon game.

Yeah, Sony really doesn't fuck around with that stuff since their PS3 renaissance.

They've been pretty spotless when it comes to trailers/bullshots/marketing their games.

Don't you dare fucking quote No Man's Sky at me

They also want to avoid another Shadow Fall MP resolution conundrum. That whole thing still makes me laugh to this day.

That's interesting.

I thought I remember reading that only First Light was getting HDR but both were getting Pro patches. Also I o would have that any engine revisions would translate pretty easily between the two. Guess not.

Well, we got the blog and a twitter message from the actual studio.
I wouldn't really pinpoint into neither direction being confirmed.
Guess this will be something we'll be hearing about soon.
