PS4 System Software Preview – USB Music Player, New Home Screen Colors, More

may I ask if the share button is fixed in 2.0?
Or am I too much of an idiot to understand how it works?

I hit the share button and never, I MEAN NEVER, have the last 15 minutes of video has been recorded for me. Only if i double tap the share button to initiate the recording it usually get's it right. But when i continue to a new video recording the old one vanishes even if I enter the share menu and press square.

It's almost a year since launch and i haven't enjoyed this much touted feature from sony.

no one seems to be able to figure whats causing this. i know some people who have never experienced it...some that experience it sometimes, and some all the time.

i've run into the issue every now and then. the last time was before destiny launched though. no one knows until 2.0 comes out. let's hope for more stability :)

I use to have intermittent issues but it seems to have been fixed with one of the latest patches. So I have easy screenshot enabled, I hold the share button during gameplay and click "upload video" and it saves the last 15 minutes which I can then upload or modify it when I feel like it as it stores that clip permanently.

Someone else posted earlier that supposedly has access to more in depth patch notes that it was apparently fixed in the 1.75 firmware, but only for games released after 1.75. So anything released before then will still have iffy functionally, which makes it sound like it might have been an SDK problem if it had a chance of breaking on all pre 1.75 games. So hopefully it isn't some we have to worry about going forward anymore, and should work on anything released from the beginning of August.

Oh okay I didnt knew that, all my games are launch titles so this must explain my problems. I hope once I use a new game the share feature will work just right.

You hit the share button, then you'll see save video at the bottom then you hit square.

the ones who own multiple consoles are the worst because they hide there fanboyism behind that and when you call em out on it they pull the im a gamer and own all the consoles card. Even if you own every console you still will have your preferences and favorites. Its basically a smoke screen for stealth trolling. I read another thread where a user posted something bad about X1 regarding the crushed blacks and seen Bruiser basically pull the defense force card saying the crushed blacks are there but aren't a issue for him etc. So its defense force post for Xbox stuff and offense/critical post for PS stuff, but because he owns a PS4 as well as a X1 its ok for him to troll PS topics while defending xbox in other topics lol.

Yeah, this is gaming's equivalent of "but I have a black/asian/latino/whatever friend!"

We're all human beings, with preferences. One can have all 3 consoles and still like one of them more than the others, so saying you have the other competing console does nothing to prevent fanboyism.

Also, understand that if you exit the game(such as go to the dashboard) or open the share menu without saving, a new clip will start and the unsaved clip will be lost.

I Didnt knew this either, but as mentioned before I still think the problem lies with my games as they are launch titles.

I have tested this a bit and from what I found this is how it works. If you're playing and press the PS button to go the menu the recording will pause and once you go back to the game it will resume so when you watch the recorded video you'll see it skipped the part when you were at the Menu.

If you take a quick screenshot in the game, the recording will continue as normal and when you watch the video you wont see the icon that comes when you take a screen.

Now when you enter the Share menu is when stuff happens, If you just enter the Share menu and go back if I remember it's just pauses. But if you enter the Share menu and save/upload a screenshot, whatever video recorded to that point will be thrown away and it will start over once you go back to the game. Same thing happens if you save/upload a video. So, enter the Share menu and save anything no matter if it's a screen or video, just saving is enough, the PS4 will start recording from 0 once you go back to the game.

I tested all this playing FFXIV which I know works everytime with Share, games that have the Share bug have many other problems.

I love seeing that other people are playing FFXIV. What server?

Here are a few more voice commands including going to trophies. Hopefully most of these can be used in game.

I've been trying to use the share button for the past week, playing Rogue Legacy, fighting the remixed bosses, and it has not worked once. Literally not once. It either records like 15 seconds or the square prompt to save the clip will not show up. It's fucking infuriating that they have a button dedicated to this on the controller and it doesn't even work.

--

Another thing that needs to be fixed. Someone sent me a voice message last night and it would not load unless I quit to the dashboard. The messaging system in general is so bad, how long it takes for messages to populate.

Interesting "Take Screenshot" is a very nice addition. Wonder if we will get "Record Gameplay" or something similar?

Where is this screenshot from on IGN? Is it related to this firmware update?

I ask because "Start Friends" seems new and that could be very useful.

Well these are all shortcuts to the menu above, not particularly useful.
btw. instead of showing the title of the game/app for voice commands now, they should give you an audio sample because for some games I just don't know how to pronounce it correctly as a non-native speaker ^^

The one voice command I want but still isn't in this update is "Eject disc" :/

I think with all the people complaining about Sony taking so long to release 2.0, they pushed 2.0 to the 28th and decided to save the other features that were supposed to be announced for the next firmware update.
Sony usually doesn't post the most complete change log until the day before (Monday). I wouldn't expect anything big. Just things like appear offline or hit PS button to see the trophy you earned.

I would say those are pretty big.

(At least in the sense that people have been begging for them for years)

It's definitely subjective. By the look of this thread there are tons of people that consider this update small because they aren't getting the feature they want. For me, I'm super happy to be getting a follow button in live from Playstation and YouTube sharing.

Yeah I feel for you brother it just doesn't work :(
The only thing that intrest me is how it will work once I'll try a non launch title game.
A poster here said that games launched since August should work fine.

I mean, assuming you can use them anywhere on the PS4 OS it's pretty handy. Save a few clicks are navigation by just saying "Playstation, Start Trophies."

Yeah that would be more useful, but not all commands are available at all times. It's interesting that they included "Start" in the same command, for games you say it afterwards. Could mean you can say it within a game instead of having to say "home screen" first.

Can't wait for the inevitable songs that will come with the new themes. I don't think a solemn, introspective song really conveys how I want to feel when I boot up and use the PS4. It's not a bad song... it's just too sad sounding. So ready to ditch it!
