I haven't posted in this thread for 12 hours, but people can't stop talking about me, saying I derailed the thread, while they talk about ME. The wounds are deep.

I just realized my Sony Mp3 player should work perfectly for this. All its music is stored in a folder called music, hopefully its not case sensitive, excellent.

Please don't tell me something as simple as pausing downloads has been left out
 
I hope the youtube app is just as good as the ps3 one. Also can't wait to see what hidden features are in there.

Don't think it is an App, just support to be able to export your share button video directly to YouTube instead of to Facebook.

I hope there are a few little notable feature updates as well.

I would really like a pop-up notification for when my friends log in and an option to "Show Offline".

I'm assuming it'll be identical to the PS3 one (i.e. youtube.com/tv in full screen mode with controller input instead of a mouse pointer), but if they add anything I hope it's USB keyboard support during search. That shit is really annoying without it.
 
Damn guys, BruiserBear is not a bad guy or a console warrior.

I've been playing with him on PS3 since Battlefield 3. Bruiser is a cool guy.

I know his opinions are a bit controversial and I don't agree with many of then, but people should focus on his posts (or maybe ignore then) instead of attacking the person.

Seems like EVERYONE is a fanboy around here since this new gen started. :-(

Anyone knows if this is the software update that will add backup functions to the PS4? I have a 2TB drive just waiting to be installed and I would love to be able to back up my stuff instead of redownloading everything. I might be wrong but I've seen something like that mentioned in the last system update thread.

It apparently wont as they removed that entry from the blog post saying it wont be in this firmware.

But given the details about the feature it might just appear in next firmware instead (unless they fucked up and that entry was entirely a mistake)

the ones who own multiple consoles are the worst because they hide there fanboyism behind that and when you call em out on it they pull the im a gamer and own all the consoles card. Even if you own every console you still will have your preferences and favorites. Its basically a smoke screen for stealth trolling. I read another thread where a user posted something bad about X1 regarding the crushed blacks and seen Bruiser basically pull the defense force card saying the crushed blacks are there but aren't a issue for him etc. So its defense force post for Xbox stuff and offense/critical post for PS stuff, but because he owns a PS4 as well as a X1 its ok for him to troll PS topics while defending xbox in other topics lol.
 
Looking forward to the themes but mainly looking forward to the Youtube app as I hate having to switch to PS3 to use it there.

All I need now is for DLNA streaming and then I can switch the DNS settings to watch US Netflix (Do this on PS3 at the moment) and I will finally be able to put my PS3 to rest.

Just a quick question for anyone who does watch foreign Netflix, does changing your DNS settings affect online gameplay? I haven’t ever noticed it on PS3 but wanted to check before I go doing it to my PS4 and end up creating extra lag etc. while playing in Destiny etc.

Great to hear, like i said i never noticed any problems on my PS3 but since the PS4 takes advantage of my actual internet speed (Unlike PS3 which only ever gave me 1MB per second) i didnt want to negitvely affect it too much so i could get the best speeds.

Can´t happen, you are just changing the DNS servers.

The actual data transfer isn routed through their servers or anything. This stays the same as before.

Xbox One is packed full of features with solid monthly content updates being released since launch, and yet you still cant figure out how to Pause/Resume downloads? Save music to the console? Resume games from standby? Friend online notifications? Folders/customisation options for dashboard?

I wan't you to be my favourite console, and at the start of this generation you were, but I am finding it pretty much impossible to still believe that.
For a '2.0' update, this is pretty pathetic.

I really hope at least friend notifications get slipped in as part of the "...and more!"

Its ridiculous when I prefer to use my PSTV to remote play my PS4 (instead of the PS4 itself) because it can actually give me friend notifications on top of the PS4 screen that its streaming over.

Microsoft touted their DLNA support and it still does not work for me.

Even the media player is still listed as a preview item on my console. The Xbox One might be better at communicating updates and iterating, but their end product isn't all ambrosia either.

Actually using a US-based DNS service is likely to make your PS Store downloads slower because it will be connecting you to a CDN server in the US.

Hmm very interesting, i was worried that it might do something like that so maybe i will just leave it on the PS3 as it is at the moment.

lol. I don't think it's that big of a deal, personally. However, as someone mentioned earlier, I do hope they implement favorites, and you have friend notification for those.

definitely would be classified as things that should be stealth included (if i were Sony) as it would be embarrassing to advertise these things as new and exciting features when they should be base console ui features.

kind of why i think advertising themes or background wallpaper is funny
 
Okay, this just dawned on me on the way home from the office.

As a web developer, I have a love/hate relationship with Adobe Flash but I understand that some people like it.

In 2.0, you can view Archived Twitch broadcast as seen in this translated screen capture below.

If you've ever gone to Twitch in the PS4's browser(or iOS app), you may have noticed that Twitch archives can not be viewed. Thats because Twitch encodes past broadcast in Flash.

If the PS4 can now watch past broadcast, Its possible that they have Flash running in some form on the PS4 unless they are personally converting each broadcast for archiving(doubtful).

Just putting that out there.
