PS4 Update 4.5 is coming tomorrow, details inside

I got a few questions, tho...

I already have a Firecuda 2tb SSHD in my PS4 PRO...

Is there a way to move all my games to an external HDD and then insert an SSD (500GB) as an internal? I would just moved games that i play most back to the SSD so it would load faster... would it be a good idea?

Will i lose anything by doing that?

Thanks for your suggestions in advances

You'll probably have to move the games first, then unplug the external and use the backup feature on your now "empty" internal drive to save it to a second external. Swap out the internal to the SSD, re-install the OS using the official method, and then restore the backup to it.

If all goes well you should be able to plug the external back in and have it resync'd with the system.

I ordered a 500GB Mushkin reactor SSD and a cheap Rosewill USB enclosure. I will do a before after load test on my PS4 Pro with Horizon / Destiny / GTA V when I get it (compared to stock internal 1TB drive). Hopefully I get it by the weekend or early next week.

Cool, I am interested to know if SSD speeds are better over usb 3.0 versus the internal sata connection.

How does rest mode work with external storage? Does everything still get installed to the internal drive? Does the external drive stay on while in rest mode?

Surprised about the voice chat on remote play. 1 thing that stopped me using it with online games. Can now use it more often. (Also the obvious input lag)

Time to buy another 4 tb hdd.

Vr changes gonna be sick gonna watch 3D mad max great to hear aboutv2d resolution bump too

And beast mode for bloodborne fuck Yea!

Can't wait to hook up my 2tb and keep everything installed at all times. Completely unnecessary and it's gonna be awesome.

I'm thinking about installing an SSD internally, then keeping the bulk of my games on the external HDD. So the games I'm currently playing a lot will benefit from SSD, but the rest will just be for when I'm in the mood for one of those.

Need more info on external SSD speeds, already have a 1TB SSD internal, could swap that out for a HDD and put the SSD in an enclosure if usb gets better speeds. I believe on XB1 they said an external HDD was faster than the internal stock, so I'm hoping for a big bump

OMG!! Watching that made me realize Rocksteady should make a Knight Rider game.

Anybody know if boost mode improves frame rate for driveclub?

I currently have a 6tb HD attached to my pro internally that's over half full but what I'd love to know is if I shift that drive to external and put the original 1tb back in and install the firmware on it, will it see everything installed on the 6tb drive?

Nice, time to get an external HDD as I had to delete something last night to make room for Nier on my Pro. What's a recommended 2 to 4 TB one?

Why are people in this thread acting like gif making is some new feature? It's been a feature of Sharefactory since November.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016...-0-out-today-gifs-photo-mode-ps4-pro-support/

We're excited about the new animated GIF feature, which can be easily shared to Twitter right from your console via Sharefactory. Using content from your Capture Gallery or your existing Sharefactory projects, you can create looping animated GIFs up to 10 seconds long. Sharefactory is currently the only way to create and share animated GIFs on PS4.

This new PS4 firmware simply adds the ability to post the gifs directly to the activity feed.

No the external drive is formatted upon first connecting it.

Quick question about boost mode to anyone who was in the Beta. Does it make the fans whirr up more than when it's in standard mode?

Yes depending on the game, but the system is doing more work so = more heat being expended.

So I ended up getting the newer model of the WD 4TB my book external desktop hard drive. Got about 1.3TB of games loaded on it now and works like a charm. Is it advisable to turn on sleep mode for the external hard drive (30/45/90min idle) or should I keep it off?

Ok guys, as someone who knows jack shit about external hard drives, can someone just ease my worries and confirm to me that this will work for the PS4:

https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Backup-Portable-External-STDR4000100/dp/B00ZTRXFBA/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1488996865&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=seagate+external+hard+drive&psc=1

Judging by some of the reviews, these tend to die pretty quick..that is why Im thinking about getting Western Digital..Ive had two seagate drives die on me throughout the years

hmm...wonder if they dropped the notifications change due to feedback. it wasn't mentioned in the blog or the chinese release notes

About the boost mode they said it takes advantage of the double sized gpu. But isn't it factually uncorrected? It takes advantage just of the clock speed (and the larger bandwidth, of course), not surely for the CUs.

I still miss some of my dynamic themes that I had on ps3, like the LittleBigPlanet one.

I don't see why not. Probably just have to format it to exFAT.

That is the one I want to buy..but its USB powered..been told different things about USB powered drives and the PS4..so I want to be totally sure the PS4 can handle ONLY usb powered before I buy it..I can get this drive price matched through staples plus I have a coupon so want to order the drive today..the desktop version of this same drive has mixed reviews so thats why I dont think I will bother with it

Can you have custom backgrounds or is it just game screenshots? In the PS Plus video it says anything from the capture gallery, so surely you could screenshot a pic off google or something?.
