PS5 final color could determine its sales success according to an analyst

I wont buy a PS5 unless it's casing is 24 carot gold with diamonds spread throughout and costs no more than $500 notwithstanding.

Also it has to simultaneously be blessed by holy prophets and been used as an alter to kill baby lambs in sacrificial rituals to the dark lord himself.

Your move Sony.

A lot of people really do care about colour.
I went to buy a switch with my sister and asked the worker if they had consoles available.
The first thing the worker blurted out was yes we do but ONLY neon.
The way she said it was like she had already disappointed countless customers that day and was sick of people asking.

I hope Sony will go the dual color route, like DualSense.
The concept art we ve seen across the internet have many jawdropping designs using black and white colors, though i suspect Sony will have simpler design due to cost and ventilation reasons

Shure!

i can't imagine it being anything other than black/white to match the controller. i hope it's mostly white with black highlights but i guess it could be the opposite.

white consoles look better so they should go with that.

If the PS5 does a predominant white with black accents
I’m trying hard but can’t imagine being someone who’s gonna pass on PS5 because it‘s white. Purple? Sure. Yellow? OK. But white? What’s wrong with white? I’m tired of black, black, black all the time. Beyond boring. And I’m glad Sony is seemingly after 3 gens finally going some other route. Dual-tone is also fine but please don’t be all-black. That would actually give me a pause before buying it.

Because many people have many other components like an AV receiver and other consoles that are black and a white console would be totally out of place. At least even the Switch goes with a charcoal and black theme as one of its options.

I’ll buy it day one no matter the color. If Sony is taking suggestions though, I’d want it to be the exact same color and design as the dev kit.

And black TV - black console, I get it. But it’s still stupid.

I would guess most people prefer black for AV equipment so it might have some effect, but probably not too much lol.

Plus the Xbox has a bigger problem of not fitting on peoples shelves!

I'd say to that anal yst that the console will be black & white, like its gamepad, and that will dominate the market again selling way above 100 Million copies because of games and performance.

This time the console won't be released a year and a half after Xbox, so out of all the things we still have to know I'd say that only the price is something that may affect its sales during the first years. I think the price should be max. $499 and max. $100 more expensive than Series X.

We know that performance will be a huge leap compared to previous generation and more or less similar to the Xbox and that will have a ton of great games, both from previous and current gen, multis and exclusives.

Man these dumb articles get worse and worse every day. I can’t wait until this thing gets released so at least people can talk about games again and the first hardware/software “gate”.

It has to be panda, it has to match the dualsense.

Panda or storm trooper is awesome, I love the color combination in products such as the google pixel phones.

Black and white works.
Still using my 2XL. Panda is such a nice color.

But the Wii sold over 100 million copies. The Xbox 360 is the best selling console in Xbox history. So uh, ok I guess?

And if the Dual Sense is anything to go by, it will be sexy like:

We got some of those driving around here (Berlin Germany) and they are really way less impressive in person. Way too small :(
But that's how I feel about most sports cars.

@topic: Just make it black, works with pretty much every room.

Dumb. There was a statistic back in the day that showed light colored consoles didn’t fair well against their darker counterparts, but the SNES and PSX killed that quickly. The Dreamcast fueled that theory some more, but... yea, its demise had nothing to do with its color.

I guess the Wii U should’ve sold better than the Wii, I wonder what happened there 🤔. Oh yea, this theory is dumb.

Its always the color they wait and release a year or two later that is the popular one. If it launches black everyone will want white when they show it in a few years. If it launches white everyone will want black in a few years. That never fails

Sony should have stuck with a single colour. The two-tone is tacky. The white on the DualSense looks like some kind of cheap overlay. It looks so much better in black :

I like the White 2 tone color much better actually. Had they shown it like this, at a glance, looks like a copy of the Xbox controller

But it's clearly not an Xbox controller, lol. It has the iconic PlayStation symmetrical stick setup and light bar. No official Xbox controller has these things.

Ask me about my Stream Deck
The color of a console definitely effects sales. Want proof?
Nintendo Gamecube purple lunchbox didn't help...
Most consoles are black or white, with the occasional special limited edition.
No, the catalog matters. If you've got the games and the right price, people will buy.

I think it's a big improvement on the DualShock 4, which looks like a controller still stuck in its prototype phase.
That we will only be sure of when we get to use it, I guess. But it does look like they refined the ergonomics.

I don't think ergonomics are much of an issue nowadays, most people were comfortable with the DS4, preferred stick placement is down to habit.

idk man white is a pretty nice. the white with the blue and black trim seems to be the design they are heading for. I remember when i had a wii and the disc drive lit up blue it really complimented each other.

Yeah, for sure. The real test comes when we actually get our hands on it. But from an aesthetic perspective , I think it looks much better. Things look a lot cleaner and smoother and the touchpad integration doesn't look like an eyesore. It actually looks like a modern controller.
The DS4's design looked as if it was half trapped in the past.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
Well, at least they weren't quoting Michael Pachter this time. You don't know how thankful I am for that.

Can't wait for the buzz feed articles of how a white console is pushing the idea of white supremacy and a black console is a throwback to the slave era because white people like to own black things that entertain them.

He has a point, aesthetics are a huge factor, especially for early adopters. An ugly console is not what you want to put in the forefront of your tv setup. If I spend 600 monies, I want the damn thing to at least look ok-ish. The controller is ugly, I hope the system won't follow the color setup.

black or white is fine as long as it's not that ugly shade of the xbox 360. I like the shade of white on the Wii actually

Make the entire console glow a light bar blue.

Howzabout options? Not everyone has the home aesthetics to sport a console of X color. I honestly like my electronics black because it makes them less noticeable.
