PS5 focus is high performance, not high power. Are people underestimating the value of the approach?

I don't really give a shit because both SSD's and their subsystems will undoubtedly execute the same level of workloads extremely proficiently. Microsoft clearly put more money into their system, there's a reason their drive is the speed it is, there's a reason for their specific compression methods, there's a reason they decided on a wider bus and higher memory bandwidth.

They have a much wider array of tangible knowledge at their disposal to make the decisions they are.
 
Everboydy seems to assume that the brightest minds in the world world made the PS5 while some cleaning women played Tetris with a box of hardware to make the Series X.

Seems like an odd thing to start talking about. I've stated several times that the SSD in the PS5 is much faster than the one in the XSX.
 
I have confidence in Sony teams. HZD2 and next ND and SM games are going to look insane.

I just lost confidence in Sony's ability to market and sell the product because the communication is really bad.

People like you so easily forget that Microsoft operates Windows and mines data on system usage via hardware and game operation, something Sony has zero access to. They didn't put the SSD they did in their system because they were prohibited from getting or building something better, they did so because they know they don't need something better and there's workarounds within the memory and bus which negate the necessity of faster storage.

Let's look at this in reverse. Some of you are downplaying the series X, it has an SSD, it has custom Raytracing chips and it has a custom audio chip. I don't know where you think this magic bottleneck is going to come from.

It's time to give it up and go back to talking about the 2 Sony Made exclusives per year that will be the real difference.
 
I don't care too much about Ray Tracing because of the performance hit but i do appreciate what it does to the image . But what's this place going to be like when the differences are shown in that. (If there are any)

Both dismissive and downplaying actually legitimate technology that developers around the world are praising and excited about.

What really upsets me is when someone makes a pro-Sony thread that doesn't bring up Xbox in any negative way, you classify it as "dAmAgE cOnTrOl" and proceed to derail the entire thread as some sort of punishment for praising a particular aspect of the PS5.

Indeed, any pro PS5 thread that does not even mention the competition sees a mix of Kagey K Kagey K DynamiteCop! DynamiteCop! Bernkastel Bernkastel and others coming in trying to downplay everything. I unironically agree. Would footage have been cool? Absolutely. But it was genuinely fascinating to watch an actual hardware designer get to talk about his baby, in detail, and without dumbing things down too much.

I'd love to see that become a standard of sorts for everyone.

Yeah, it will be up to them to prove it. Side by side it's very obvious to seee the advantages.

If you want to argue 1 is worth more then 10 you will have to prove it. The people that say 10 is more then 1 have no burden of proof as it's a relatively accepted fact.

People are definitely overestimating PS5s performance and underestimating XSX's performance. They are trying to save face but not all dreams are meant to come true. That's why its important to plan and build another dream.

As I've said in other threads, all they are getting on Xbox Series X is cross-platform games...... it's not next gen as we used to call it.

The only truly next gen console launching later this year is PS5, that is because it will get games designed around the new hardware. Not just higher resolution versions at 60 fps.... That is not a generational leap.

What they showed for Gears 5 was pathetic, if that is the extent to the benefits of XSX.

We still haven't seen nextgen games from them though. Just Hellblade and Halo infinite (I think it's called). If gameplay graphics look like that then they look great. Plus we're just at the start of nextgen. Down the line we'll see graphics improve as usual.
