Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch

Boxed copies of the failed sci-fi FPS are being resold on the site for upwards of £300, in some cases, with several more listings still in triple digits.

Typically it seems to be selling for around £40, but it seems some are hoping to catch people out or take advantage of the game's enigmatic nature for a quick buck. Whatever you pay, though, you're effectively getting nothing in return.

The game itself launched in August 2024, and lasted about two weeks before Sony pulled the plug due to an unbelievable lack of sales and disastrous player numbers.

A few months later, it was announced it would not be making a return, and the developer, Firewalk Studio, would be shut down.

No longer available to buy digitally and with all online functionality switched off, all that's left is the physical PS5 version, and it seems leftover stock is finding its way online for exorbitant prices.

Customers who purchase the game — at any price, let alone £300+ — will of course not be able to play the game at all. It can only really serve as a collector's item for your shelf.

Interestingly, the Concord limited edition DualSense controller is also going for super high prices, though this is perhaps more understandable as it was only released in limited quantities.

Again, you can expect to pay north of £300 for this item, and while that's ludicrously high, you're at least getting something usable for your money.

Do you have a physical copy of Concord knocking about? Do you think it'll end up being a truly valuable item, given the game's story? Discuss in the comments section below.

Sony’s failed live service game has finally become a hit… with resellers on eBay, who are selling the game and it’s limited edition controller for crazy prizes.

Video games don’t have much of a history of famous flops since, unlike movies, it’s usually unclear exactly how much they’ve sold or how much they cost to make. There are exceptions, like the apocalyptic failure of E.T. on the Atari 2600, but it’s only in the modern era of live service games that it’s become obvious when something has been a complete disaster.

That is one way to describe the impossibly short life of Concord, which didn’t even last two weeks before Sony announced it was being discontinued.

That meant if you bought the game it was, as an online-only title, suddenly completely useless to you. Sony offered refunds but there’s probably some people that were caught out, who had bought it physically and never worked out how to get their money back. But it seems an easy alternative is to now sell it on eBay.

Rather than honest customers, that bought the game assuming it was going to be a long-running hit, it seems the majority of copies going up on eBay at the moment are unsold stock, that was taken off shelves once the game’s cancellation was announced.

It’s not clear why they’ve only started showing up now but a post on the ResetEra forum shows it’s happening in both the US and Europe. Although one poster has a photo suggesting that the game is still being sold in shops in the UK, unaware that the game doesn’t work anymore.

As with anything on eBay, it’s difficult to tell what the going rate actually is, as most copies are being advertised with a Buy It Now price which there’s no guarantee anyone will pay.

There are several in excess of £350 but it’s very hard to imagine anyone’s going to hand over that much for a sealed box and a useless Blu-ray.

Instead, the average seems to be around £30 to £40 in the UK. Although curiously that’s much more than in the US, where the average Buy It Now price is around $20.
Although Concord is an important game, historically speaking, it does seem madness to spend large amounts of money on what is effectively an ex-video game.

However, a more functional heirloom of the game’s brief existence has also become a hot ticket on eBay, with the limited edition Concord DualSense controller also going for upwards of £300.

Unlike the game, this was always intended to be released in limited numbers, so not only is it a genuine collector’s item but it actually looks really nice in its own right.

this is stupid and the writer of the article is an idiot,
those aren't completed listings, I could ask 9109423041092409 dollars for madden 2023, nobody is going to buy it,
completed listings run under 20 dollars, the controllers sell for a substantial amount, but the game doesn't

Just because people are listing copies for 100s of dollars doesnt mean its going for that. Always gotta look at sold listings to get an idea of what a game is selling for and it's only around 25-30 bucks recently

I actually joked with a couple of friends by the time this was crashing and burning that buying one or two physical copies may pay in the long run because it could become some sort of "Gronchi Rosa" of gaming.

Bro you don't even need to be a thousandaire to have this piece of history.
Yeah but I'm frugal. Why waste $30-$100 (whatever it is) when I could save it up for an investment? Or give it to a friend in need? Only when I'm filthy rich will I waste money on a pure vanity item like a physical copy of Concord.

This is gonna be at least as good of an investment as Funko Pops or Beanie Babies.

Sony scalped the ps5 for the first two years and now Hermen is scalping Concord after six months.

He can't keep getting away with it.

Those are listings, lets see sold. Looking at multiple recently sold ones. There are a lot sold for 10-30$, with 2 "graded" sold for 200ish. And if you are familiar with graded video games. It started as a literal racket. This is probably the same thing.

A couple assholes 'graded' their copies, sell it to themselves to make it look like a high price item, and then relist it waiting for some sucker to think he is getting a high price collectors item.
