PS5 Pro Technical Seminar with Mark Cerny

Ha, Mark Cerny confirming the 33 TF figure is no where in the developer docs just like I mentioned is a possibility a while back. But no, some people took exception to that.
Remember when it was 66TF at first as people thought that 33 was halved?

I am going to pull a pat on the back for my sources here but his 16TF number was pretty spot on considering this date I “guessed” this

Gaiff Gaiff you and winjer winjer tried to discredit me repeatedly when i said it was clearly an RX 6800 in the PS5 Pro, you will learn like all the others.

And it's not, for a big chunk of it. Only the compute and raster are RDNA2.
The geometry engine is RDNA3, the RT is RNDA4, and the ML is a custom WMMA implementation.
An RX6800 will never be able to have the same upscale quality and performance of the Pro. Neither the same geometry throughput. Neither the same RT performance.

The first 20 seconds are already pathetic: "This is a bits and bites talk with no game footage at all". Sure, THIS is how you sell an overpriced useless pice of hardware to your gaming audience. On the other hand, we already know there is nothing to sell anymore. He's not showing game footage because the actual real word difference is miniscule and not worth the money. This "technical seminar" is not gonna help sell PS5 Pro's at all.

Who is this technical presentation even for?

Same people who are always interested in the tech side. If it isn't you then it isn't you.

This presentation reinforced the idea that the SoC for the Pro should have some Infinity Memory. Maybe 32 or 64MB.
It would do a lot to help feed the Compute, RT and ML units.

Not using dual-issue either. I figured it was too much work with the compilers for devs, so it makes sense they didn't bother with it. I was hoping there would be something here to perhaps leverage it somehow, but it ain't happening. Too bad, but oh well.

Need to watch this later on, but I suspect that Mr. Cerny won't be able to coin flip my decision.

As much as I would like to binge the pro, it will end up felling like a pure flex situation, and I'm not in the mood for that.
