  • No more RDNA5 codename, after RDNA4 it's UDNA.
  • MI400 and RX9000 using the same UDNA, architecture using GCN-like ALU design.
  • UDNA Gaming GPU tentative plan 26 Q2 mass production
  • Sony's PS6 will be using UDNA, the CPU has not yet been determined whether it's ZEN4 or ZEN5
  • Sony's handhelds will also use AMD hardware
  • Microsoft's handhelds I heard that they will choose between Qualcomm and AMD? I don't know about this the above information comes from the supply chain, I'm not sure about the specs and performance

Discuss..

Now PSSR there will be more interess. Maybe PSSR 2.0

To be honest I'm more interess into a new OS HUD because PS5 Home screen is just total trash in comparison with PS4 and even PS3.

PS3 XMD is unmatch while PS4 is one of the best with themes and folders.

I'm not to hype about ps6 since it is too early we still have 4-5 more years for Ps5 and it is still a good system especially with ps5 pro, and more good games are coming up. I will get ps6 someday, but I'm not thinking about it and I don't want to talk about it right now so I will not lose the fun of the current gen. I will enjoy what I have right now.

RDNA4 might not compete with RTX 5000 series, but that’s not a fair comparison. The real competition is UDNA. It’s gonna be a beast if the rumors have any truth to them.

Our faith will be rewarded, AMD brothers.

What an easy rumor to uphold considering UDNA will be coming in 2026. Microsoft will most likely have the first UDNA console on the market. By 2028 Zen 4 / Zen 5 doesn't make sense because we might be on Zen 6 / Zen 7 by then. This rumor is completely BS and sounds like someone is trying to make a name for themselves early.

Native handheld is a must, with portal selling decently there is some demand there.

It won't be like the vita as I'm assuming it will be a unified ecosystem. It doesn't even need to sell crazy numbers just an option for those that want it.

Can we at least expect games having good output resolutions and stop demanding so hard on IA upscallers? I really can't believe that PS5 run most games at a worse native resolution than PS4 in their time.

Pisser isn't going away. If anything it'll be even be more featured.

AI upscalers like dlss is a game changer though. Pssr is still in it's infancy it will get there like dlss did.

The delayed release of Switch 2 makes me speculate that we're in for longer and longer console generations. PS5 has also not come down in price really and there is huge untapped markets left. Maybe 2028 will be its soft launch but it won't be worth owning until 2029 or even 2030. 8th gen was already slow to kill, despite its massive limitations. This gen does not suffer similar technical limitations and games will most likely scale pretty well due to the apparent lack of huge bottlenecks outside of the GPU.

Really doubt they will opt for Zen 4 or 5 four years from now. The Zen 2 in the PS5 was not four years old. It may just be costlier opting for a too outdated architecture. Maybe uDNA is the paradigm shift that Valve is also waiting for regarding Steam Deck 2. If so, it would present a similar breakthrough in low wattage performance as with Vega -> RDNA2.

Bro why would PS6 use Zen 4 (2022) or Zen 5 (2024) when it's launching in 2028... That's like the PS5 using Jaguar or Bulldozer derivative despite launching in 2020..

Game Cube Nintendo?
Just kiddin
I look forward to the PS6 but i'm not in a hurry. The longer this gen stays the longer my PC is actually capable.

Cost reasons? Those may be the only AMD CPU cores available on an older (4nm) node, and Sony is unwilling to pay for something which requires 3nm or 2nm silicon. I think next-gen will have a chiplet SoC.

If it releases 2028 then I'll probably pick it up 2030 at the earliest and hopefully it has gotten some exclusives at that point. Looks like my PS5 Disc Drive Edition will have quite a long life.

No way in hell Sony launches a console in 2027-2028 with a CPU architecture that launched in 2024. Especially since AMD has already mentioned Zen6 and Zen7.

LOl if it is zen4 and 26 gpu will be ridiculous underpowered for nextgen. It needs to be zen6 with rdna6 or udna2.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Great, easy to wait a couple of years for a new generation at this rate. Whichever of the two big console vendors gets there first, if it's not digital only, I'll be there.

MS is what's driving this, yes. Sony doesn't want to look like they are being left behind. Doesn't matter if all the games are crossgen.
Sony wouldn't want to be talking about a 2028 (four years out) product after just releasing one. Just a UDNA name turning into PS6 rumours is nonsense that's vaporware designed to prevent people from buying current products. That isn't Sony not wanting to look behind. It's whoever is driving this wanting people to wait.

Considering the pace of evolution in CPUs (unless you have Apple’s prices and budget), I think most of us would take the equivalent of the 9950X3D with a decent clock speed bump over Zen 2 in PS5 (16 cores CPU and 3D VCache on both internal clusters as well as covering the GPU) then try to chase even newer architectures.

They may go Zen 5 or Zen 5C if they want lower power and even lower density, but I do not know if they need a much faster CPU than that to be honest. Zen 6 depending what it targets might be possible but less likely and Zen 7 even less so. I do expect a Zen 5+ next year and Zen 6 the year after… maybe Zen 6C again after that.

PS6 is due is about 4 years, maybe less…

We will see what more the GPU requires and if the GPU and CPU are on the same die or just the same package. This might influence the use of a newer core if it is cheaper for AMD that way.
