PSM: PS4 specs more powerful than Xbox 720

My point being that if you really care that much about whose specs are slightly better than the other, why not just go PC and have the option to upgrade, especially now that the game libraries are approaching total convergence?

Also, whatever happened with OnLive? Did that turn out well?
 
They said the same thing about the PS3 and we all know how that turned out. With an extra year of development they still managed to produce a system that was marginally more powerful than the 360 and needed a talented development team to really show it off. Sony likely knows what the next iteration of the Xbox contains and they have an opportunity to launch one out of the park by revealing their console later. Memory is paramount and I cannot stress this enough. If they really want to dominate in the next generation then they need to produce a console that isn't arguably better, but is unquestionably.

One potential downside of the next Xbox is the integration of Kinect and although it can be interpreted as either a plus or minus the inclusion will definitely have an impact on the cost.
 
I wonder how financially unsustainable they're going to get.. should be fun to watch these two companies play financial chicken.

Because Windows.

I think OnLive is pretty good, but depends a lot upon your connection. Also, the masses are not aware of its existence yet.

Are you referring to multiplatforms or exclusives, because there is obviously a difference in the exclusives.
 
If after Vita and the PS3 Sony is dumb enough to focus on power over positioning they deserve to go bankrupt. Nobody bought an iPad due to the specs.
 
Considering what developers have said about Vita development, I don't think anyone has to worry about PS4 being easier to make games for.

To me it looks better but no one can say it looks that much better.That was the other guys point about things not being noticeable like a xbox 1>ps2 situation.
 
PS3 is "more powerful" than 360 but it's lack of ram has bitten it in the ass dozens of times when it comes to multiplatform games.


Unless the 720 is going to be wiiU level of tech come back to me when we know how multiplatform games look on the two consoles.
 
Great as long as they price it right and do something with all that supposed "power". Its funny that before a console is released all we can talk about is "power" but when its all said and having the most power doesn't mean much for games or sales.
 
lol @ the Uncharted 3 vs Gears 3 dick-measuring contest.

played both, the styles are different so it's hard to compare, but they both looked good.
 
With the rumor of two different Xboxs and Kinect-mania, it doesn't seem too far fetched. I just hope Naughty Dog or some other developer tells them "More memory!" over and over. I honestly want 60fps & better load times more than anything else.

And MS damn well better switch to bluray or something else. No more farking dvd limits holding everyone else back.

That's because developers were/are too lazy/can't be bothered to code properly for the PS3.

Yes, i agree. If there is going to be a significant gap between them Kinect will be the reason for the lower end Xbox 720 hardware, and thats the chance for Sony to take advantage of and attack MS. Give the PS4 1 or 2 GB more RAM than the new xbox ... everyone will see the differences. That would be a major advantage for them if they are smart and would hurt MS - which seems to want a box that can do everything but nothing really good - in the long run.
 
have there been any rumors about the ps4's internal specs yet?

I mean we already know a good bit about the next xbox but I havent read anything reliable about the ps4.



seems weird they would run this story yet I dont think we have any idea whats gonna be inside the machine.

I would say, that in all aspects of the technology (because its not just about visuals), Uncharted 3 is noticeably better than anything on 360.


If anything, it'll be the PS4 that ends up being more powerful than the 720, and not the other way around.
 
I can't believe we're still debating whether ps3 games or gears 1/2/3 looks better as if it's close at all. No doubt Gears looks great but it's a whole different level with most of ps3's exclusives. There's no shame in admitting that.
 
It has been known for some time now that Sony will not be skimping on hardware. Look at the Vita, for example. The PS4 will be a beast. Here's another prediction that will end up being a fact: the PS4 will be much, much, much easier to develop for than the PS3. Sony has been talking to developers about what they want in the machine.

If ps4 is launching last, wouldn't we expect it to be more powerful? I mean why would you wait for the console that launches last if it wasn't at least marginally more powerful than the rest (excluding exclusives).
