PSN, Battlenet, Riot, and others DDOSed; PSN returning lightly toasted with butter

Did you just call the Xbox a toilet?

That title belongs to Jaguar.

Quoting from ED: "You're/Your is widely accepted as one of the most difficult aspects of grammar. Indeed, only very few people on the Internets have mastered the challenging task of figuring out witch won too yews wear."

So the guy now made terrorist threats? He just dug himself a bigger hole.

Eh.

They'd be caught eventually anyway. It's the same story every time some kiddo gets a hold of a big zombie army. They trash around and piss all over everything and then are quietly arrested and forgotten about 2 months out.

Same thing happened to Lulzsec.

Can someone catch me up to speed? What is all this bomb threat stuff about??

People who touted they were doing the DDOSes also sent a tweet to an airline saying they got a tip off explosives were on a plane (same plane as a higher up in Sony was taking)

For people who think that DDoS attacks are hacks and require any knowledge, this is how a popular piece of software for participating in a DDoS attack looks like. As you can see from the complexity of the interface, hacking in Watchdogs requires more skill than this.

(don't try to use it as it can put you in some serious shit)

Recaps:

Recap:

LizardSquad took credit for DDoSing PSN, apparently in the name of ISIS or something.
FamedGod got pissed and gave out IP addresses of everyone in LizardSquad.
LizardSquad apparently think that there on explosives on flight of John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment, which has apparently been redirected.
LizardSquad are now tweeting "funny" videos which include footage from 9/11.
FamedGod will be PSN back if we report LizardSquad on Twitter.
But worst of all Brazzers was affected.
This Fame person brought down PSN. A group of others called Lizard has DDOSed lots of other things, but most importantly, caused a flight redirection through a bomb scare on a plane. They then also claimed credit for the PSN takedown.

Fame then posted the Lizard group members' IP addresses and told people to report Lizard's Twitter page. He says if it gets deleted, he'll "restore" PSN from its DDOS status.

Stuff is "limited", whatever that vague as shit statement means

Look at the date of that service alert. It's from 2 days ago.

If you go the US version it actually gives you the details of what's wrong.

Hi Xbox members. Are you having trouble connecting to Party Chat on Diablo III on Xbox One and Xbox 360? Additionally, Xbox One users, are you experiencing server unavailability issues? Us too, but we’re working alongside our partner to get these issues fixed ASAP! We’ll keep you posted when we have more information on this issue. In the meantime, thanks for staying patient.

Basically, party chat is having problems and there's problems connecting to the D3 servers.

However, XBL is still up.

The good thing from this is that Sony has to have multiple data-centers to avoid a future network outage (if true).

Honestly, the best thing to come out of the 2011 Sony outage was they were fairly straightforward about what was going on once the dust had cleared, and they specifically addressed the types of security oversights that were taken advantage of. It was great communication outside of the original window. A DDoS is more of a cudgel than anything else, and there's really not much they can do to avoid it in the short term.

PSN will be a better service when this is all over.

Guys! The PS3 PSN store still works :D! I just booted up my PS3 and the store was able to fully load :). I guess it is the Vita and PS4 stores that aren't up yet. Must mean that Sony fixed the PS3 one first and will move on to PS4/Vita next.

I guess but why weren't they doing that already? Earlier in the thread posters mentioned there wasn't a way to avoid this but they're apparentky actively trying on Xbox and Live is still up and running so there must've been some preventative action Sony could've taken.
