agreed, I just downloaded it. How am I supposed to buy PSP games on it?

Some further details from John Koller, via Gamasutra:

http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=23918

"Yes, all dual-format, and we aim to go backward as well," Koller says, adding that Sony plans on converting at least 300 existing UMD titles to digital.

"Going forward, with one or two exceptions, virtually every UMD that launches will also launch digitally," says Koller. "If you own a PSP-3000, you can purchase the UMD or you can download, and if you own the Go, you'll have that content... with content parity, price and timing parity across the board."

found out tonight that with the included bluetooth you can sync your Dual Shock or SixAxis and using its video out play it on your tv with a real controller. Being able to play Peacewalker like this is reason enough.

SOLD.

why would you want to? it's a portable system. i do want to know if the ps3 could play psp games. Also since sony is the only one selling the digital versions of the psp games, they have a guarantee price monopoly unless i am wrong.

Some games just feel better on a real controller and with a big screen. Peacewalker, I expect, will be one of these games. Especially if you get additional DS3 controls to control the camera with the right stick.

i'm a little out of the loop on PSP and PSN in general, but can you buy PSone classics and put them on your PSP w/o needing any kind of hack or walkaround? Is this something they plan on doing for the Go? Even though the price is steep i'd definately consider getting one if the selection of games is robust enough (that means putting that fucking impossible to find Metal Gear PSP up for download, assholes!)

Has it been confirmed this is still using 11b instead of 11g (or n)?
11N??? Thats PSP3 shit right thur!!
11b is the one on Go, not a big deal to me.

Also the DS3 connectivity is great!

You can buy PS1 games directly from its Store front and MGS PS1 is coming for PS3/PSP for US PSN store.

I asked about it like way back earlier in this thread.
You should have asked one of the reps when you were demoing the GO earlier.....I think this is an issue sony is trying to ignore.

but what if i don't have a PS3. Can I buy stuff from a store directly on the PSP via WiFi? Not to bring up this comparison again but will it be basically like an iPhone, where i can download music, apps and games directly on the phone with no need to even hook it up to a PC? And are PSone games available this way? I was browsing through the recent FF7 thread and it seemed like people were having to do some sort of workaround to make the game work on their PSPs.

Has anyone asked about our old UMD's?

There's rumors of a possible mail-in program in which you'd send Sony your UMD, and they'd give you a code that will link the digital copy to your PSN account.

You can buy the games right now using wifi on the current models. The work around is only for us using custom firmware, not the average user.

Someone posted earlier in this thread that they did indeed ask, and the reps replied with something along the lines of "we're investigating different possibilities".

I think it's neat looking and it seems a lot more portable, but I can't justify spending any money on another PSP, much less $250. I barely play my PSP-1000 as it is.

Yes you can access the PSN store from the PSP directly. That work-around is because they have illegal Custom Firmware running on their PSPs. Using the firmware Sony provides you shouldn't encounter any issues I would imagine (correct if wrong)?

There is nothing illegal about custom firmware. It's what people may do with it's capabilities that can be illegal.

I'm confused - I downloaded it and just clicked on the Playstation Store thing on the left and there's the PSN. I didn't try downloading anything, but it was definitely there. Am I missing something?

That will work fine for me.
I hope they support JP and US games.
Otherwise I will HULK SMASH those bitches.

??? Did you guys miss the the menu item for the Store on the lefthand menu?

Dammit, the more I see it, the more I wants it!

Just upgrade that wi-fi standard to something more modern Sony that's all I ask!

outunderthestars said:
what is the difference in the different wifi standards?

The current 802.11b standard that is in the PSP transfers data at a maximum 11Mbit/sec, while G, which is more the concurrent standard is 54Mbit/sec. If it it's Draft N (they haven't finalized this completely yet down to the exact specs so it fluctuates wildly), we would be talking a possible several hundred Mbit/second dependent on the version.

All the positive hands on have me warming up to Go. I might pick one up if I can trade in enough old games etc.

The game will run perfectly fine on PSPs running OF 5.50.

There is no 5.50 CFW, so people running a CFW will have to add a text file that tricks the game into thinking its running on 5.50.

Either way, it runs perfectly fine.

Lastly, running a CFW isn't illegal, its what you do with it. I run a CFW on my PSP because it lets me get more use out of a device I own. I went on a recent deployment to Iraq (it sucks, don't recommend it) and having a CFW on my PSP allowed me to take my PS1 games with me and leave the discs at home.

With Media Go software, you can:
■Easily transfer music, photos, audiobooks, audio clips, and videos to and from your Sony and Sony Ericsson portable devices
■Subscribe to podcasts and video blogs and automatically download new episodes
■Discover new video and audio podcasts from around the world in Media Go’s podcast directory
■Rip songs from your CDs and transfer them to your Sony and Sony Ericsson portable devices
■Look up album and artist information and artwork from Gracenote® MusicID®
■Organize and search your entire media collection with ease
■Add useful ratings to your media and use them to sort your media
■Purchase new media from online stores, including:
■Sony Ericsson PlayNow™ arena
■Partner stores
■PlayStation® Store
■Automatically synchronize content like playlists, podcasts, and recently added media to your Sony and Sony Ericsson portable devices
■See overviews of your devices so you can monitor total space used and total space available
■Add SensMe™ data to your music files and create playlists based on the music’s mood and beats per minute
■Play your media using several different views: compact, large-screen, or full-screen
■Purchase, backup, and restore PSP™ games

Its interesting that it works with SE Phones too... finally SONY!

In Media Go software, you simply click on PSN Store tab and it opens PSN Store inside Media GO, looks almost the same as PS3 PSN Store

Don't take what I said the wrong way, I use CFW as well, love it. All I was trying to point out that the only people having trouble were ones using CFW which isn't supported by Sony (illegal was the wrong choice of word)

Expected. Well at least in japan they offer you different prices between physical media and dowloaded media like the new My Summer vacation 4, In UMD 4980Y, download 3800Y, quite a difference there. Ithink If they want new people to jump into the digital era, at least give them an incentive like the ones given in JPN

Tsk, tsk. It's not just about downloading, but the ease of data transfer. Why bother having to keep USBing everything when you can have a fast wi-fi standard right on the system?

Things like streaming and remote play would be loads more effective with a higher standard.

Having such a downloadable only media device but not using a wi-fi that is standard in 2009 is just backwords.

If anyone ever has a home wireless home network like I do, the router would be limited by the client requesting the data transfer in a mixed environment, even if it's N speeds, my PS3 would limit it to G speeds when I use the media streaming capabilities.

This has such fantastic media potential, it would be strange to hinder it in such a way.

The U.S.

I think I figured it out. The store isn't an option because I have not connected a psp to it yet. Mine arrives tomorrow, and I was hoping to be able to shop for content and download it tonight.

anyone know how much Jeanne d'Arc is on psn?

they tried to do it with Warhawk on PSN, and stores retaliated by not ordering game after initial shipment (it was sold out right away). After that, PSN pricing is the same as Store for all games.

Weird, it shows up for me directly under Photo Albums.

During the setup assistant (pops up after you've installed the software and launched for the first time), did you tell it that you would use the PSP with Media Go?

I didn't.

And that's to be expect. I was the one who posted the solution in the official homebrew thread to fix the problem (its really a simple fix).

I can see that but to be honest, when I had my old psp, I had no problem what so every with speeds or problems with my remote play.

I see what you are saying though and I agree, it should have G but B isn't that big of a hassle, maybe for downloading directly off the store but I'm sure people will download it via ps3 or pc then just transfer it. It would be faster than ways anyway but I suppose it's just for the convenience .

too bad you have to have PSP connected for actual download...

Software itself is not bad, it will probably take few versions to make it stable and good.

That is really lame. :(

it downloads the game directly to your PSP, you basically use Media GO as PSN Store front. Most games are not that big.

I am also suprised by the pricing - lots of older "UMD" games between $10-$15.

Lol, I can drag and drop from Sense Me playlist to Itunes playlist...thats pretty great on its own. I hate Itunes personally.
