I was trying to stay positive on the upcoming gen. I figured I would get a PS5 if GT7 was coming soon, which the first showing suggested, but now it doesn't seem like it is. I'm still considering getting it for Demon's Souls and CoD but now I'm leaning towards just playing CoD on PC and getting a new graphics card after AMD announces, whenever I can grab one at my Microcenter.
I thought the showcase really did not respect the viewer's time. You have this brief nightmarket scene for Mile Morales just to pander to the Sony fanboys who actually like cinematic third person slow walking scenes, which is hilarious for anyone who browses GAF. Then the bridge fight looked underwhelming and filled with QTEs. Deathloop's trailer did not add anything to the first cut. The framerate in Black Ops was atrocious, which included many of the same scenes supposed running in real time on PS5 in the original reveal. Resident Evil had a boost to its framerate from last time but I'm not sure what they needed to show this time. I felt the same way about Horizon. I don't know why they needed a showcase for the same lineup of games when they could've just announced the price and focus on something else like the interface and digital delivery.
Final Fantasy XVI was the final nail in the coffin for this series and me. I know a lot of people are going to hype it up because it's an exclusive and it has a medieval fantasy look. But I don't play action JRPGs, the combat does not look like a worthwhile use of time. In the turn based games you can come up with interesting job class combinations to try to beat the encounters as efficiently as possible but this is just button mashing.
I will give them credit for Demon's Souls, it looks phenomenal in motion.
