This is really quite an interesting situation, and considering I don't feel like doing any school work, I felt I should share the current situation.
I'm currently home from University. My University, Acadia, is about an hour away from Halifax, where I currently am located. I came home on Wednesday, and on Friday they were forecasting 10cm of snow and 50mm of rain...that's 4 inches of snow, 2 inches of rain, for you backwards, Imperial folks.
Well, wake up Saturday morning, and it's snowing. Fine, that was what was forecasted. Of course, then it kept snowing. We wake up Sunday morning to no power, and thus no heat. And about a foot of snow. And it's still snowing. And it's windy.
The issue? This.
Six Transmission Towers toppled completely nearby. 100,000 people in the province are still without power.
Which brings me to my University Campus.
They currently have no phones, no internet, no power, and four of the residences lost their heat, and have thus been evacuated and are being forced to live on floors in other residences. Classes are suspended indefinitely, meal hall is likely not functioning, and who knows what else might be going wrong.
So, currently, I'm at home, with no idea when I'll have to go back, and no clue what I'll be going back to. Other than spoiled milk in my fridge. Other than that...should be an interesting trip back. Campus might not be getting power back until Friday. That should be interesting.
Also interesting is a crazy lady who interrupted a press conference to complain about the local power company. Storms always bring out the crazies.
We went through a Hurricane and a Blizzard (Over 3 feet of snow) last year, so we're used to such catastrophic storm systems, but still, it's proving entertaining.
