Very telling how little PlayStation 1st party has coming up when they announce a game that won’t even go into production until after his current game comes out… we looking at 2031 for HJ’s espionage game?

Stellar Blade put me off when I saw that breast physics were applied to a pre-teen girl's model. Gross.

How interesting, considering you got everything except what you were complaining about yesterday.

Probably C

I liked it more than Microsoft's showcase, but admittedely I still wasn't wowed by anything. Out of presented games, I'm quite interested in checking out Rise of the Ronin, but I do agree with comments saying it looks rough, especially in comparison to Ghost of Tsushima. Stellar Blade might be interesting as well. Metro for VR is disappointing, I would rather see a proper sequel. Don't have too much to say about Death Stranding 2 as it's just too bonkers for my taste. Until Dawn remake is a really headscratching decision, although it's still the best game out of the horror games we got from Supermassive

Really excited about Kojima's announcement though

I really can't understand why sony have funded rise of ronin. Is ghost of tsushima 2 not being worked on?

You mean to tell me more than one type of the same game can exist at once?

Stellar blade looked like a technical mess trying to be nier automata but maybe they nail it and it comes together performance wise by launch. They have what? 3 months.

WTF are you talking about? Performance looked great in the SOP, game is smooth. You're just making stuff up now to downplay.

Rise of the ronin looks like it could either be amazing or a assassin's creed, GOT sekiro rip off that doesn't nail it.

You do realize the team behind it also made Nioh, right? Why not use that or Ninja Gaiden as your go-to comparisons?

Ds2 looks like genuine insanity and saved the show. Looks amazing can't wait to see that running natively in front of me.

The only accurate thing in this post.

Jurassic will be amazing but I'll be playing that on pc like the other biochock games.

Cool.

Not a high bar.

Well yeah some of the SOPs were pretty bad, but most of them were at least decent and a couple were pretty great IMO. This one is at least at the "pretty great" tier, maybe a bit higher.

I start at a neutral C.

Stellar Blade did not improve or hurt my opinion of it and did not fully sell me yet. I really just wanted to get a sense of the gameplay systems but I couldnt see more than a 1.5 second quick edit combat with most of it just being finishing animations. It certainly looks pretty but I need to be confident I will like how it plays to spend $70. This is a draw.

I didnt see any real major 3rd party stuff that excited me. Dragon's Dogma 2 looks great. I already knew that. Not very impressed with the rest. Judas is of course on my radar but the trailer was kinda a wash for me. The indie stuff was fine. A draw.

Rise of the Ronin looks rough honestly. I decided to not spend $70 on this one. I'm not really wanting open world gliding and npc dialogue in my Team Ninja games. It looks a little shaky graphically but thats not a deal breaker for me. The flow of combat feels more simplistic and abrupt like Wo Long and less like Nioh just from looking at it, which is what I dont want. Will get down the road. This is a minus for me. Dropping show score to C -.

Death Stranding 2 trailer is bananas. I loved it. Exploding with originality and interesting art. I honestly am still not sure I want to play it since I bounced off the first one, but this was great. I give it a full letter grade bump for the entire show score which I didnt do for Xbox. Show is up to a B-.

I give a half point boost for the show format. It was fine. Good pacing and Sony needs to get staff out there talking to the audience, including Herman. I am bumping show score to a B.

Silent Hill 2 looked awful. I have not had any interest in it though so its not much of a change for me. I thought the free thing looked a bit bad as well but at least its free. A draw.

Final score: B

I can’t give it less than an A personally after getting to see Judas gameplay, that insane Death Stranding 2 trailer which looked amazing, and Silent Hill 2 remake gameplay.

Extended looks at Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin both looked great as well. The VR titles even looked fun with that Metro game and the fantasy one.

Hardly any filler or employee camera time, just trailer after trailer. My personal favorite State of Play so far.

Rated it a B.
Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin and Death Stranding 2 made the event for me. I am very excited about them.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Metro VR.

D. Stellar Blade looks amazing, Judas looks interesting. Death Stranding 2 looks like some clown shit. Nothing else of interest for me. Meh.

I got interested in games I wasn't particularly looking forward before (Stellar Blade, Silent Hills games and Sonic).

My jaw was dropped for the entire duration of the DS2 trailer.

The pacing was great. No trailer overstayed their welcome yet showed enough (for a trailer).

We also got a couple of games for PSVR2 and a free Silent Hill game. And we'll have another state of play focusing on FFVII Rebirth in a few more days.

Granted, I wasn't hyped for every single showing, but that is to be expected.

All considered, it was a pretty solid A in my book. Definitely not S, but that tier isn't in this poll anyways

D. Death Stranding 2 was literally the only thing I'm moderately excited for TBH. Though I'm KINDA of interested in that Godzilla collab with Dave the Diver, because I loved Godzilla, but I haven't even played that game yet, lmao.

I was on the fence for Silent Hill 2 because Bloober, and I'm glad. What they showed at least shows me I shouldn't be excited at all. That looked so incredibly rough, I can't believe it was even shown when nothing has been shown other than the initial reveal trailer awhile ago. Also, I was always indifferent about SH: The Message, and I'm glad I was as well. It's cool that it's free and available now and all. But it looked like just another walking sim horror title, it felt like they were really trying to strike gold like PT did, lol.

I usually give a C at best and D at worst.
But Rise of Ronin, Stellar Blade and a few other highly increased that score.

Unfortunatelly that ugly woman at the end made me reduce points. So a solid B it is.
The lady talking? Lol

Cool.

If you can't see the jankiness in stellar blade then let's see how it is it launch. The rest of my stream was fine but framerate and consistency was all over the place in that game. If they nail the nier automata clone it could be great. We will see. I need to see more. I can't see why you're gushing over it but each to their own. I hope it's good.

I'm surprised you are so shocked at my comments about rise of ronin, it looks very similar to GOT to me and I was just under the impression that a sequel is being made of that game that we expect to be announced soon. Of course similar games can exist I just didn't expect something so similar. The combat looks nothing like ninja gaiden and more like GOT To me. Do you not see it?

Seems strange that they would show death stranding 2 and mention the other game at the end in January of 2024...what do they have for the second half of this year?

Silent hill looks shockingly bad.

Very little that looked of interest gameplay wise, once you take away the cinematic it felt like a lot of retreads with better graphics (e.g. "rear automata", "bioshock above water", "walking simulator 2.0").

It's not often that I get genuinely stunned but DS2 looks simply magical, so wonderfully twisted. Perfection! Overall B-

Resident Crybaby
  • Stellar Blade looked fantastic
  • Silent Hill F2P looked bad
  • Silent Hill 2 looked bad and a huge downgrade from the initial reveal
  • Judas didn't impress me, unfortunately
  • Several unremarkable looking filler games
  • Rise of Ronin looks legitimately terrible, visually. I don't see the appeal of that one at all.
  • Until Dawn looks great
  • Death Stranding 2 set a new graphical bar

Solid 'C' from me.

Sony thrown themselves into the GaaS hype, and it shows they clearly regret that decision. The best example was the cancelation of the Last of Us Online.

They have nothing to show other than a remake of a game they released last gen. Aside of the previous announced games.

Think I’m gonna give it a solid B. Might have rated it higher if I could get into Death Stranding but it’s just never clicked for me. Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin definitely were my show highlights.

My PS5 will see a lot of use in March between FF7 Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin.

Combat looks nothing like Ghost besides the very begining when he's swapping between stances, then it diverges completely

Yeah that's where I'm at. Very little expectations from me, but they did a great job here. All of the games looked pretty fun & interesting tho of course some being stronger than others for me. Stellar Blade, I really think that could become a nice little franchise. Probably get an anime adaptation down the line, plus hopefully a sequel; the world design, aesthetic, character designs all look great.

Rise of the Ronin, again, it's not a graphical showcase IMO, but it does look like it'll have Team Ninja's dependable combat in place, plus it could be one of those games where the story and different play options (like the romance options mentioned a while back) do a good amount of lifting in addition to the combat. I still have some questions about SH2 Remake if it'll capture the spirit of the original (and it would be nice if it and the modern RE Remakes outside of 1 & Zero included a classic fixed camera mode, just for purists sake), but it could manage to hit the mark. I have faith in it.

Death Stranding 2 looks great, really no more need be said there. I'm even more curious about the not-MGS project Kojima Productions & Sony/SIE are working on. Sounds like it'll be a 2026 release if I caught the mentions correctly. Just to complete the circle, they should get Kurt Russel to do the main character (I mean, Snake is inspired from his character in Escape from New York anyway).

Stellar Ass, Rise of the Ronin and Death Stranding 2 are my types of games and the announcement of a new Kojima game made me hyped.

Only stellar blade looks like it has half decent gameplay. Like half of them are horror/survival realism games, which are oversaturated in the market.

Not a good night to be running off the discord script.

It was everything the other showcase should've been, barely 3 sentences from devs, all about the games.

Some indy trash for sure, but I like them, gives your eyeballs a chance to recover between big hitters.

And oh my, did they hit big

If the other one wasn't a couple of weeks ago, this would've been a solid b, but having seen that this has got to be an A* result.

And most stuff out in the next month or so.
