I really love my playstation, but I am fed up with sonys bs so rated F for Fuck them.

I am feeling what the xbots felt for over a decade at this point.

Honestly...for the first time in like 5 years this was an A show for me,with many games I'm interested in and it being pretty much 90% japanese focused shows how much the western side has fallen to the gaas and dei focused disasters.

PS Studios was also almost completely absent from this outside a brief, unnecessary teaser(why?) of Ghost of Yotei. The GAAS initiative completely destroyed their output and its more and more evident with the lack of any news and announcements from many studios that have been mia for years and should not only have had announcements of projects by now but actual game releases.

The last great Sony presentation was in 2020 with the PS5 showcase when they revealed Demon's Souls,Horizon FW,RE8,GT7 etc. But this one was great and I hope Sony continues like this with a big focus on japanese games!

It's being developed by Arc System Works. That was, like, the whole thing. Exclusive does not mean first-party. (Plus it's coming to PC.)
It's being produced by PlayStation Studios.

B.

Started very strong for me but began to fall off in the second half. Once again Japan is keeping the industry alive.

Lumines Arise looks incredible and anyone who played Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite knows exactly what's up. New Suda 51 game and Silent Hill f looked great. I'll get Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles if it's even half as good as the fantastic Tactics Ogre Reborn. Everybody's Golf is so back. Metal Gear Solid Delta looks like it's going to have the Subsistence multiplayer mode included which is incredibly exciting. Loved the Nioh series so a third game is welcome. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls looks like an insane partnership.

About the only Western game that looked good was Sword of the Sea but they have a lot of pedigree with Abzu and Journey and this looks very similar. The rest? Ghost of Yotei's teaser was so short it may as well have not even featured. 007 First Light's Bond looked classless and the game seems to be just an action game. It's looking like a Bond game from IOI is turning into a monkey paw wish.

The rest on show was pirate themed slop. Avast Western devs! They need to walk the plank at the next SoP.

Yeah, but it's still being developed by a third party. I guess I should clarify that I'm surprised we didn't see any Sony studio developed games.

Disappointed by 007 and Pragmata. The trailers were not powerful at all.

The SoP had ok content but this kind of disappointements make it a mixed bag. And i consider myself lucky to not give a fuck about Ghost of Yotei otherwise it would have been another disappointment. So i would say a C.

The Arc Sys partnership was a great move from Sony and Xdev though.

And i'm happy Suda's making another stupid game.

New Miz game even if it is a Lumines sequel (no shade, but after Tetris that's a step down as far as puzzle games are concerned), new Suda 51, Nioh 3 with demo today, Final Fantasy Tactics, Bloodstained 2, Arc's Marvel Fighter along with a lot of the games we already knew about (Silent Hill, MGS3, Yotei, Everybody's Golf) and Pragmata and Baby Steps finally reappearing. Probably the best State of Play Sony has done.

Wait 4 days before definitely claiming anything about Capcom.

It would be a big deviation from their norm if it turns out to be true.

RE2 remake onward all recent RE games have been announced at Sony shows' / states of play.

C, some cool stuff was shown, but also lots of meh stuff.

Yes, but stuff like DS2 is having a showcase in a few days, Yotei is having its own SoP later, not surprising. And I mean, Spider-Man PS4 was widely considered first-party despite SIE not owning Insomniac at the time.

Best SoP I've seen in a long ass time. Great shit all round. A lot of unexpected announcements and games to look forward to now.

Best show Sony has put together since COVID. It is apparent now, that getting AAA game from studios every year is a thing of the past. These remasters, collections, and ports included with new AAA games is the future.

Sony did good today. I expect most of these games on all platforms. BOND looks surprisingly good.

Again, I wont overthink and over analyze to much, but its a good show, a "B" for me. I just hope there will be exclusivity talk with some of the game especially Pragmata, Romeo, and Nioh 3, even just time exclusives.

Pretty good for once! It is a little sad that I am mostly only looking by forward to playing newer versions of old games, but hell don't fix what isn't broken.

B+
I didn't expect any major first-party game reveals at this State of Play. I think it's going to happen at Summer Game Fest.

- Saros gameplay is going to be shown during their 30th anniversary, and that's in July
- Intergalactic will probably see a full reveal at the Video Game Awards.

I rated it a C, hardly anything for me. Stuff that I was hyped about I was already hyped about. Some of the stuff made me go, "Well, that's neat...", like Bloodstained. But nothing new that got me super excited unfortunately.

Tom Cruise James Bond? Lmao.

Gave it a D. I'm interested in Pragmata, Silent Hill f, MGS Delta and the Bond game, but I thought trailers for those games were meh. Why even have Ghost of Yotei on the SoP when they show nothing? Also, wtf was that ending? A 10 minute boring interview, really?

It's "produced" in the same way Bloodborne was "produced" by Sony. The brunt work will be made by ArkSys the same way From Software did for Bloodborne. Sony will just provide tech support and collab with budget and what not but it's a PS Studios game on paper only since Ark Sys is not owned by Sony.

When people ask for PS studios games they mean ones owned by Sony.

Its a D for me, i thought it would be a disappointing showcase and it was.

I think the PS5 pro is probably one of the most useless consoles sony released and that State of play confirmed this for me.

Some positive points

Japan Renaissance is in full force thank god
No gaas push whatsoever
Focus on gameplay centric games

Ill give the show a 7/10

It reminded me of good E3 shows minus the first party stuff

So sony might be healing and going into a new (old) direction

I got some more optimism for the future. Little but is there.

It's a PlayStation Studios game as long as it's being produced by the PlayStation Studios division. Why do we have to get to this over and over again?

Unbelievably bad show. I don't understand why Sony has such a good rep on this forum when it comes to PS5.
This. Just garbage after garbage.
How people are rating this As and Bs is just insane. Clearly pubity hasn't hit yet. Have a word with yourselves.

E3 2015 and 2016 were A's. This wasn't even in the same league.

We just don't know what Geoff has yet (nor Xbox). He has been grabbing some exclusive Capcom reveals lately and sometimes Capcom will throw Xbox a bone with a big reveal, and Xbox had a great showing last year.

Regardless this is why I don't browse around this forum too much during SGF week. Too many fake rumors, too many last minute leaks, too many random twitter users saying something that will shoot expectations to the absolute highest of the moon.

So for me personally this entire show was pleasant surprise after pleasant surprise and also a way to give nearly every Japan team their much due respect and flowers.

Think about that. They are about to takeover this fall.

When was the last time Japan fully took over the fall season in releases?

It's exciting.
