That would just be another Chuck Greene. Doesn't make sense since the quote of the eye witness specificially talks about a second man.
Frank is confirmed in DR2 anyway, in that shitty picture the guy on the right could be ANYONE. This is really non news.

I reckon it would be cool if there was a unique zombie out of the 1000's of copies which was a zombie frank west with a camera shuffling around

Yeah, I was pretty pissed off when I managed to avoid the appearance of a certain character (
Big Boss
) in MGS4 only to have it ruined by a gaffer who had him as an avatar on a completely random, non-MGS4 thread. Thanks a lot buddy. So I understand why some people are annoyed by this.

Hey, cool, as someone who intentionally stayed away from all DR2 media and PR, I am so fucking glad this thread exists. :|

People were expecting Frank West not to be in the game? I think that's the big revelation here.

The element of surprise is still greater when not knowing he's in the game or suspecting he's in the game then when you know for sure he's in the game.

Next thing you know is when he shows up in the game and what he does..

It takes away a bit of fun when you know it for sure and the title of the thread ain't helping either. The title states he is in the game, a question and confirmation with pic. Leaving out the fact that the pic doesn't tell us much tho, just by reading that you already know it.

Even though I always fully expected West to be in the game, this thread is hardly confirmation. The pic doesn't tell you anything, it's just speculation. Everyone here is jumping to conclusions. I don't really doubt that it is Frank (the internet tends to be creepily accurate when it comes to things like this), but really, the pic doesn't flat-out state that.

I can totally see where you're coming from though. It's just that I'm way past the point of really caring about stuff like this in videogames. I'd just rather the game is good with loads of cool shit to do and find and I'm pretty sure DR2 is gonna be delivering that.

That's something I'd like spoiled: confirmation that this is as great or better a game as DR 1 was. Though the only one that can really confirm that is me playing it and deciding for myself.

Oh no certainly the pic doesn't tell us anything. My only problem is the thread title, I read it as: Frank West Spotted In Dead Rising 2? (insert excitement here) Well we got a pic to confirm it and its inside here!!!

And yeah it would be stupid not to include Frank West somehow into DR2.

I think people hold video game storytelling in TOO high regards to find something this small defeating. Or did I miss all the /s's? It's understandable in RPGs but a Capcom zombie game? You guys do know that Wesker is behind this too right? OROBOROROR!

This isn't about storytelling.

Man, only on GAF are people complaining about being ‘spoilt’ while everyone else is just happy to hear the news. Your definition of a spoiler is just ridiculous. :lol

I can somewhat understand people not wanting to know this.....but at the same time why are you on GAF then? You know that this was going to get posted on here sooner or later. Not to mention that this’ll be all over gaming sites in the next few days.

I didn’t think the title of the thread would be a problem because of the ‘?’ imply that it’s you know, still not 100% certain, which it still isn’t! So yeah, sorry but I feel I've done nothing wrong here. It’s just how IGN ‘spoilt’ Ada being in RE4 all over again.

Did anybody here frequent the Official Super Mario Galaxy 2 thread? People there spoilered
Throwback Galaxy (aka. Thwomp's Fortress)
, even though there was video footage of it in an "Iwata Asks" interview.

Whether or not YOU think something is a spoiler, you should have enough common sense to know when you should use some common courtesy.

I love people and their "media blackouts".

You want to know absolutely nothing, yet you go on a video game discussion forum, and expect not to have openly announced game features discussed without spoiler tags.

I'd say it's the tail wagging the dog, but it's more like the flea wagging the dog.

They pretty much have to, right?

I'm sure Capcom did not anticipate Frank West becoming such a cult video game character.

And why I ask? What the hell is the big deal about frank besides the one line everyone repeats over and over?

There's a big difference between spoilers in a thread, and spoilers in a thread title. If you think there isn't, then why do you even post here at all? It would be fair game for somebody to put stuff like: "[Somebody] dies in [Whatever]" as a title. Obviously, that's a bigger deal, but a line has to be drawn somewhere. Hence having some common sense and common courtesy.

I don't care too much about knowing whether Frank is in the game or not, but the difference is that I'm capable of considering whether other people care or not, and I wouldn't make a topic with a title like this.

The fact that there are a lot of people here who object to the title in this topic means that disregarding their opinion is self-centered. It doesn't matter whether you agree or not; you're in the wrong.

There's a big difference between legitimate spoiler like "[Somebody] dies" and a character from a previous game showing up in the sequel. I mean, really.

If you don't want to know anything about a game, then stop visiting discussion boards. It's not the community's responsibility to keep you sheltered.

Did you even bother to read my very next sentence?

If it's not the community's responsibility to keep other people sheltered, then why bother with spoiler tags at all? Why isn't everything fair game?

He's a likeable character most people can relate to.
He's a regular guy, not specially handsome, he's kind of chubby and goofy looking when you dress him up with weird clothes, he's funny and he doesn't take shit from anyone. Also, he also manages to kill thousands of zombies with mannequin torsos while eating frozen pizzas.

And he's covered wars, you know

I wish one of the mods would edit the title into:

Guess who was spotted in Dead Rising 2?

or

Frank West was spotted in...

That way no one would guess it dot dot dot

Way to apparently not know something about dead rising that even the most casual fan would know.

I have watched the initial trailers but have purposely kept myself in the dark as to not spoil anything. This would have been a very nice surprise to find out in game. WTF is wrong with some of you people?

You essentially said, "Yeah, my example is useless hyperbole and overstatement, but the line has to be drawn somewhere."

My point is that the line should be drawn with actual story developments and twists (hint:that's what the spoiler tags are for), not something as trivial as a character's widely-expected appearance.

he makes some nice character progression as well.

Of course he's in it. Isn't there another character from the original confirmed to be in the game? If they're bringing back one Dead Rising character, they sure as hell bring back the protagonist that everyone liked.

If a certain well-liked past character makes an appearance in the story of Resident Evil for instance you don't think that's a spoiler?

Well not really but then again I'm not stupid enough to make a thread that contains possible spoilers about any game right in the fucking title.

I remember people getting banned around here around when Twilight Princess was coming out for suggesting in the OT that Ganon might be in it without using the spoiler tag. Ganon in a Zelda game seems incredible obvious too but at least they were in the OT when posting it. I can't imagine how many people would go ape shit if they made a thread at the time with that nugget right in the title.

Funny. Your posts essentially say: "I determine what other people should find objectionable, and what they should anticipate and find enjoyable in a game."

A character's precense in a game is a big deal to some people. Telling them they're wrong makes you incredibly arrogant.

All I ask is that people not make thread titles like this one. You expect people to not come to GAF or any other forums altogether. Which one of us is being more inconsiderate?

Well I’m sorry if I’ve annoyed some of you.....but I still think you’re insane for thinking this is a spoiler.....and even if you think it is a spoiler, aren't some of you overacting just a bit?

As soon as I found out about this all I wanted to do is come here and spread the good news to everyone. But instead I get shouted at and stoned. **runs off and cries in the corner**

Many blogs ran with this story using the same title, it's not even a confirmation. How is this even a spoiler when the game isn't out yet? You guys are too much.

I don't think it's so much the fact that you made the title in the first place (especially considering that it's on Capcom's blog), but the fact that instead of simply acknowledging people's complaints and changing the title to be considerate, you and other people decided to argue the point and tell people who objected that it's not a big deal. It might not be to you, but it is to others. Some people enjoy games in different ways to other people, and some are bigger fans of certain game franchises than others, so they're a lot more likely to want to avoid information of any kind. Telling them that their way of anticipating a game is wrong and that they shouldn't be browsing GAF isn't going to endear you to many people. (That wasn't specifically aimed at you; it was a general statement)

Hmm......good point. I really didn't think anyone would care this much though. I just thought that everyone would be jumping for joy since I knew a lot of people around here really wanted to see Frank again!

Don't worry about spoiled milk and spilt tears.
Are you going to make the official DR2 thread in a few days?

Have you prepared?

GAF has become a place for whiny bitches who cry spoiler at all kinds of shit. I think his horrible development started when people considered announced characters for Smash Bros. spoilers.

Anyway, this is not relly a suprising development. After all we did hear Franks voice in the first teaser for this game.

I was actually wondering about who was going to do it the other day.

I would, but I'm going to be extremely busy in the next few weeks...

You don't suppose you could do it.....my apprentice! You are worthy!

I think it's kinda funny when people consider something like this a spoiler.

"Oh great. The whole game is spoiled! I don't even wanna play it now."
