Rayman DS IGN review

5.0 Presentation
We're getting a straight forward console-to-DS port of Rayman 2. No DS specific extras beyond a basic, unimaginative HUD on the lower screen.
6.5 Graphics
The 3D is pulled off smoothly, but the texture work is very blocky and the original's bright and vibrant look comes off dark and muddy on the DS screens.
8.0 Sound
The peppy Rayman soundtrack and cute "garbled" dialogue are well rendered on the handheld.
6.0 Gameplay
Even though the game still has some of the best platform level designs around, the fun is brought down significantly due to sloppy controls.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
It's definitely a meaty adventure that encourages multiple plays through each level to unlock some bonuses.
6.0 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Herm. Hum. Yeah... er. Yeah. Bummer. Is this a port of the N64 one or the (awesome) Dreamcast one?

It's a downgraded port of the N64 version.

It's a shame such a classic has been butchered. Even the PSX version looked and played MUCH better than this garbage...

What was Ubi thinking?

Indeed, as a note to those who haven't played the DC version, it can't be overemphasized how the shame of this port shouldn't taint the good name of the wonderful Rayman 2 Dreamcast.

I dunno, but so far that's 2 great potential DS ports ruined by farming them out to subpar teams (NST's Ridge Racer and now DC Studios' Rayman 2). I wish everyone would start following EAD's Mario 64 example. :(
