There are too many people especially in GAF argue about the review scores.

My point was don't let "score" decide if you gonna enjoy the game or not.

For example Pragmata might not get high cores either but it makes zero difference to me because I know my taste games I know I'm gonna enjoy not matter what.
For me it's about knowing if a game will actually give me what I want or what I don't want.

Some games have hidden flaws, design twists, or even moments I'd instantly skip, like jumpscares. Reviews, clips, GAF impressions, they're all just different angles to see the full picture before I commit my time

Waiting for reviews is about gathering context and spotting potential issues before committing, not surrendering my taste to a number

i been pressing R3 for lock on target and L3 for resetting camera angle for the last 20 years, i really dont have a problem pressing them every now and then in order to finish a combo.

but hey, ppl can have double standards as much as they want, i just find a odd thing to complain about it.

Also, just buy a fucking controller with back pads and map the damn thing on those.
Nothing to get worked up about. I just prefer not having to combo R3 & L3 together for any actions that you do regularly. But yeah, remapping is an option.

Not much of an negative as a whole though, game looks. 🔥

Thats the issue. People dont watch/read the reviews, the ONLY looks at the score....if the game has blow 80 metacritic score then the game is "trash" which is so fucking stupid.

Quick question, what's the tits situation in this game? Do we get to see any? Mini games?
I'd also like to know. At least we know that we can punch women in the face.
Souls-like combat is a nay for me
Yep, if that's really the case, I'm out as well. I still hope they'll patch some kind of an easy mode into that game. I'd really love to dive in and explore the world, without being forced to git gud for weeks.

"Real gamers like this game, real gamers like what I like" What makes one want to believe that this is true?

Oh, you know what it is -- it's an ego-boost, a need to tell yourself you are a Real Gamer and look down on the plebes who don't meet your standard.

I think the point is being missed. People who like easy games are still gamers. People who like hard games are gamers. People who like popular games or niche games are gamers. This "real gamers are like this" narrative is not only a fallacy, but needless gatekeeping that doesn't comport with reality.

Of course the point is being missed. Reasoning with people motivated by that kind of ego/superiority stance rarely works. Thanks for sticking up for us unreal gamers, though. 🤠

I think it just looks fairly standard combat overall, the key will be how it handles deaths... I have kept myself on a bit of a black out so I'm not sure if it's revealed how death is handle that to me is what can be a difference maker.

Seeing clips of Kliff grappling around a tower flipping up and but stomping it into splinters makes it look pretty damn fun to me.

I'd imagine that people saying it looks boring are story gamers who need their yellow paint and quipping side kicks so that they know where to "find the fun" (more cutscenes).

I sent it back lol. As soon as I read peoples posts with the word souls-like I panicked. Maybe further down the line I'll grab it once its had a few major patches and I can work out what this game is all about.

From what I've read and seen this is not a souls-like outside of maybe the boss fights. It looks like a fun and varied typical ARPG w/ lots of fun physics stuff in the regular battles. I mean you take on dozens of soldiers so the individual combat can't really be souls-like I don't think.

I'm so on the fence. Game looks right up my alley, but I know it will be patched and be better in 6 months. And be half the price. Plus I have a loads of games I've picked up in sales lately that I still wanna play.

I couldn't see Souls elements in the gameplay I saw but then I saw someone mentioning Souls-like fights and I was like « nah »

Good if it's not the case then

The regular enemies in this game is closer to a dynasty warriors games than souls. It's practically the exact opposite of souls.
They're just to do all your cool moves. Just cause a game has blocking, parrying and dodging with challenging bosses doesn't make it souls. This game has practically everything in it.

I don't think it'll feel like a souls game man at all, bosses may be challenging but I don't think it will feel or play like souls and I love souls games, but this doesn't appear to play or look like one imo

I'm on the fence now. The game seems crazy excessively long. I'll get burnt out I know it. Again maybe further down the line I'll pick it up.

Maybe I'll try that.

I can understand dunking on those games as, collectively, thats corporate slop being forced down gamers throats and told to like it so they can monitize you.

Yuck

Cynical. Some for good reason (Highguard, Concord, even Marathon that seeks to monitize the player), and some for not good reasons, (Crimson Desert, a single player open world trying something new).
Nah dog. You've lost the plot homie.

This is just you cherry picking then because you got a hard on for this game.

Marathon is far from slop, nor is it trying to nickel and dime you.

To be fair to Taul Passi, he had to play it without the fix for +100 hours (he also gave it a 9.5).

Still debating whether or not to get it tbh, bad story is a complete no-no for me.
Paul has some wild takes tho but it's good that he obviously enjoyed it. I hope many of us land on that side of the spectrum and come out happy with it.

No, it's not bullshit just because your feelings are hurt. You're either functionally illiterate or you're playing stupid. The author literally complains about the story being nonexistent.
No, he complains about its inherent nature to a PlayStation brand marketing identity.
You're genuinely retarded and this doesn't come to discussion because it's not even part of any review, nor has any of them criticized its nonexistent narrative. You try to bring up Astro Bot as an example of 'no story, only fun!" to justify your reasoning of why other ACTUAL story-driven games don't need to get critiziced for a poor job in the field. Astro Bot is not story-driven in any way like Stellar Blade or Crimson Desert.

Tbf, you only activate sparta rage with that combo of buttons but it seems like they are kinda massively used in crimson.

Back buttons are gonna be clutch.

I'm worried about the inventory system, namely this stuff mentioned in the Gamespot review:

It's disappointing, then, that you're frequently pulled away from combat and exploration to manage your inventory. You only have access to a few slots in your backpack, and while you can expand it by completing side quests and purchasing extra pockets, absolutely everything takes up inventory space. That means any extra weapons and armor, aside from the ones already equipped; all of the various crafting materials you need to upgrade your gear; the tools you need to use to acquire these materials; quest items that stay in your inventory even you've finished the relevant quest; furniture you can use to decorate your home; ingredients needed for cooking; the actual cooked meals themselves; books, wanted posters, notes, and recipes; the items you need to unlock new abilities in the skill tree; any bugs you catch; flowers you pick; everything.

The main problem with this is that you don't have any storage access. You own both a camp and a house, but there's nowhere set aside for you to stash items you might need later. Upgrade materials aren't that easy to come by, considering you need to mine them yourself, but I regularly had to sell or drop items I could've used to improve my gear, just to create space for new items.

Cooking is particularly frustrating due to how many ingredients each recipe requires. Early on, it's hard to fit them all into your inventory at once, despite the fact that eating food is the only way to heal. You can eat rare ingredients, but the healing effect is negligible, so you'll want to cook some proper meals. However, this creates its own issues, as some food items are incredibly difficult to come by.

You can purchase certain ingredients, but others can only be attained by looting dead enemies. Rummaging through pockets might only result in a single lentil, and when you clear a camp, the enemy's bodies despawn, so you can be often left with nothing. Thankfully, the remaining items are automatically transported to a chest back at your camp, but it's just awkward enough to become annoying over numerous hours. It's a needlessly aggravating system, not to mention how silly it is when you need to take a break in the middle of a mission to try and find a cooking pot.
All of those complaints are patchable tho, some of them maybe even in a day 1 patch. Just gotta see…

6/10 IGN :goog_relieved:

Yea I agree. Which I think most games are serviceable stories, they're all just good guy bad guy etc game stories are always more like just a catalyst to the actual fun, stories rarely ever blow me away but that's just me.
Yeah same for me, barely any videogame stories out there that really got my interest. Dragon's Dogma is one, but for how crazy it ends up being. Then there's Mass Effect, L.A. Noire, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Baldur's Gate I + II... not much else. Like yeah lots of games have cool stories but I wouldn't label them as something amazing.

It sounds like its a decent game that will get better with future patches. I'll buy it at some point , backlog too big right now lol especially for a 100+ plus game.
