Rayman Legends |OT| "It's a bit like a porno" (Michel Ancel) WiiU/360/PS3/Vita/PC

Need to slightly modify the OT, you have edited the delayed release date of the Vita version in the EU to September 12th:

but its actually the 13th, great OT though :¬)

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/28/rayman-legends-delayed-on-vita-in-europe/

On purpose, other sources are citing 12th of september.

And for Ubisoft news I'd rather rely on the most reliable french website :

http://www.gamekult.com/actu/rayman-legends-repousse-a-septembre-sur-vita-A111353.html

For the NA release date on Vita, I used IGN. 3rd of september seems unrealistic now that they confirmed the vita delay as being due to "extra polish". I'll update NA release date as soon as we have a confirmed new date. 3rd of Sept seems moot now.

All it was was an IGN listing saying the 20th. It never really made sense because the 20th is a friday!

Oh just saw in the link you posted that a Ubi rep confirmed that it's still coming on the 3rd in NA. OP should update the OT for clarification.

But that Joystiq article about the Vita delay says that a Ubisoft rep confirmed that it's still coming on the 3rd in NA.

Ok, changed it back to 3rd of Sept for NA on Vita. This thing is mind-boggling. All versions are released earlier in PAL territories except for Vita due to "extra polish" yet the NA Vita version would be out in the wild earlier.

I hope they release the soundtrack for this, if the Castle Rock one was just a sample, I'm gonna need more if the appetizer was that darn good.

They've sent boxed retails of the Vita version to reviewers in the US. Whatever the issue is, it must have some regional significance, but we'll find out soon.

Perhaps it could be a language/translation issue?

Or maybe a music rights issue? I thought I heard Europe has their own rules about the kind of stuff.

Just talking out my arse, but those are two things that popped up to be a possible explanation.

Has to be something like that. Obviously not "we're just putting that extra bit of polish" considering it's still coming out on time in NA.

Sooooo stoked for this. Rayman Origins was one of my favorite games of the generation, and one of my favorite platformers of all time. I played one of the Legends music levels at a Gamestop Wii U kiosk and thought it was fantastic.

One can only hope. Would be a pity to release a broken game otherwise. Good news for fellow US gaffers, earlier is better, especially if the game does not have to share shelf-space with GTA V.

There's a guy on Youtube with the game. He is probably a good 3/4th done with it, and he said the game has run flawlessly on Vita. Better than Origins even.

Man, Christophe Héral is a genius. When the music and the fast paced sections sync up I just can't help but smile. I'm trying to savour the game but it's hard to stop playing :(

My first day off in a week and a half, and I just spent 14 hours playing (to completion) Saint's Row 4. Out of curiosity, I just checked Capsule, and saw this:

I really shouldn't stay up to play this, bearing in mind it's 1am... Still, good to know I'll have it to play on my second day off tomorrow!

Shame it's going at 1.5MB/s, instead of Steam's 7MB/s

This could be the very first game I've ever planned in advance to buy three times: Wii U for home, Vita for the road, and PC whenever it gets heavily discounted on Steam. Don't let me down, Ancel.

I know you won't.

Fake edit: Yay! After years of lurking, I can finally post!

I was in the same boat - Bought a Wii U for this back on launch day, but in the end got it for my new PC due to performance.

I know I will end up getting it on Wii U and Vita, though - I have Rayman Origins for 360, PC and Vita.

Welcome to GAF! Just got in some months ago myself.

Bit peeved that the EU Vita release has been pushed back. I was hoping to play this heaps BEFORE Killzone is released!

Any impressions on the PC version? Comes out tomorrow for me on Steam but I'll have to wait till the 3rd for the WiiU copy, and I need something to tide me over as FFXIV servers are zzz.

Turns out Greenmangaming don't send their CD keys out before release. Just stayed up until 2am to install it, only to find myself stuck at the uPlay activation screen, asking for a code I don't have!

First time using GMG for pre-orders. I hope they send it early tomorrow...

Performance? The game runs at 1080p/60fps on all home platforms. I played the PC demo and could not identify an obvious difference in terms of effects or IQ either. Now PC version is cheaper, but lacks the touch gameplay (which I find quite pleasant so far).

Now if you rock something higher than 1080p on your PC screen, I can see the reason to go there for performance.

I haven't played through it yet, so I can't say for shure, if you unlock something at the end, but so far I cannot choose whether I want to play as Rayman or Murfy in Murfy-levels in the Wii U version. On my last appointment at Ubisoft, this option was there in the Wii U version and the Ubi employees told me, it would be there in the final version, too. I find this rather scammy, because if it doesn't unlock, as a Rayman fan wanting all the gameplay you can have in Rayman Legends, you now need three versions of it:

Wii U for multiplayer with Murfy and several characters
Vita for exclusive levels
PS360 for No-touch-versions of the Murfy levels.

Did Ubi really change this just to make loyal Rayman-fans pay thrice for the same game?

I will check later today if the game has an option to play Rayman (well Globox actually) on Murfy's level. Was not made clear or notified during the game for sure (solo play). I think it's a loss. Playing on-screen character in solo seems to be a loss for those levels (it's fun in co-op though, due to synchro with your partner).

Definitely, Murfy is the better way to play it, but I cannot understand why they would lock this feature away if it was there before.

GameKult also said it's a loss in their review, though these Murphy sections levels are not that bad on other platforms.

Ironically, I'm getting microstuttering when running at 1080p, but not anything below. It's a £1000 PC, so it's not the hardware - must be my settings somewhere. Very annoying.

Great game though

Edit: Fixed it - turns out it didn't like 66fps (my custom resolution), and wasn't giving me the option to chose in-game. A quick delete of that in the nVidia control panel (who needs those extra 6 frames?), and it's smooth as butter. Thank God!

Tomorrow. It's only out today in Europe. Thankfully GMG, unlike Steam, includes UK in Europe.!

The Steam version unlocks at 6pm in the UK.

Available: 30 August 2013
This game will unlock in approximately 9 hours

The date is wrong but the timer is what's important and it's the same worldwide (excluding America as the game was delayed for some reason).

Late edit: Apparently, the timer has been fixed and it indeed unlocks the 30th. :(

I'm still annoyed about the way the delay was handled, but I feel as though I'd be doing a greater good if I buy this on Wii U tomorrow, even if it means I'll be unable to budget for GTAV this month. Hmm. Where will the pendulum be when I wake up tomorrow?!

Will the Wii U version look the best?

Probably, but I can at least say it's running perfectly, so no performance issues whatsoever. Surprisingly good loading times, too (way better than Origins).

Now that the engine has 3D elements as well, I highly doubt it. That'l be the remit of the PC version.

However, Rayman Origins ran at 1080 on all consoles so the difference won't be huge between any of those. And, from everything I've heard, apparently the WiiU version plays the best anyway so that should help make a decision for you.

Can't wait till the Miiverse community finally opens up!
Quite a bit of a bummer to not be able to post scores and all!
Also, my so who's not good at usual sidescroller (but is very good in runner games btw) loves the murphy integration.
Actually works way better than in nsmbu/nslu

I got the game on PS3 so I have zero stake in this but it's a bit baffling they wouldn't give WiiU single players the option to choose between the two modes for these levels.

Considering how awesome the Montpelier people are, it's not far fetched to think they'll eventually patch it in.
