RE5 trailer released

Why is it that people always say this? It doesn't take a whole lot of imagination to understand how the game will play...

Take the concept of the trailer and consider the gameplay of RE4. Realize that there could be changes/improvements made to the formula and mash it all together. You now have a basic idea of how the game will look and play. That should be enough to get excited. :)

I'm not talking about how the game will play. I just learned not to get my hopes up from a little demo. Things change you know. It may not even look like that at all when it finally ships. Remember RE4 in the beginning?

I can't understand why everyone busts a nut over any cgi or realtime demo thrown at us. Who cares...lets see the damn game!

p.s.- RE4 is my favorite game this gen so I am looking forward to this btw.. =)

Wow. I really hope the running Zombies go beyond a single cut-scene and are a feature of the gameplay.

Just imagine it combined with a state of the art physics engine and destructable terrain. The tension would be incredible as you run room to room, flipping other tables in your wake, blowing doors open with shot guns as you try to escape.. Only for them to bust through a window and knaw you to death anyway.
I'd pay good money for that...

Someone shares his wardrobe with Leon... Anyway, even though the Ganados sometimes ran, more often than not they just walked... Lazy bastards. This trailer probably reminds people of 28 Days Later not ontly because of the running 'zombies' but because of the use of the shadows they project, a trick Boyle used a lot in 28 Days.

You should've bought RE4 then, cause everything you just mentioned is in it. Just replace tables with boxes/cabinets/shelves etc.

I think the art might be holding RE5's graphics back. I don't think the art is as attractive as RE4's yet, and that was one of the big things that put RE4's visuals over the top for people.

Obviously the game is not ready to show, but a teaser gives us something for us to base our expectations on. You simply apply knowledge from the past (based on the company, the series, etc.) and it's not difficult. Things DO change, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to excite ourselves with initial trailers. People said the same thing about MGS3, for example, and look how THAT turned out.

RE4 is an exception, not a rule, especially for Capcom. However, despite its change, the initial trailers still gave us ideas of what exactly the game could look like and they WERE accurate.

That's all!

Nice. :)

To this day I've still not played a gamecube. But I'll definitely be picking up four if it has this once it comes out for the ps2.

That's a shame, as GC is so damn cheap. Why not grab one and play the handful of AAA titles it offers? For the cost of two games, you could be playing RE4 tonight. :)

Doesn't look much better than RE4 my ass !
Technically speaking it does much more than that.

With that said, this is clearly pre rendered, even though after seeing re4 on GC i am pretty sure that's exactly what we can expect from RE5 next gen.

I'm sorry but I disagree completely. I've pumped myself up many times based off of some cgi/realtime demo trailer only to be let down with the final product time and time again. It's just a hype marketing tool made to get all us fanboys excited regardless of whether the game is great or not. I'd rather hold off on getting all pumped up until I hear impressions of the play experience and/or I see some gameplay movies. Call me crazy, but I guess thats just the way I've grown over the years. =P

Oh I do plan to one day, just have to get myself into a less of a finacial...blackhole.

Are they really as cheap as a game nowadays though? Been dying to play all the new shiggy games.

I suppose you've just had bad luck...

The only recent bad experience I've had was with Silent Hill 4. The trailer remains one of the best I've seen, but the game disappointed heavily...

Yeah, they can be had for very little.

It's a bit more than a game, but you can get a refurbished GB for $60 at EB. The machine is VERY well built, however, so I wouldn't worry about buying a refurb. A new GC goes for $99, though.

The teaser looks good. Most of us realize it's much too early for an actual game to be this far along. It's a visual target that capcom must live up to, and that potential excites us. We don't have to be fanboys to appreciate ambition.

That's an excellent way to state the perspective; though I don't put much stock in trailers and such myself until they include gameplay footage.

If they have the zombies running like 28 Days Later, then obviously the controls would need an overhaul too, if they succeed in doing that, that it would be enough of a step up from RE4 as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise, it would never exceed RE4.

ohholymotherofgoodness. I can't believe how my feelings about this series have changed. I luv u RE4. and now 5.

"doesn't look that great" = "will run on downgraded revolution"

actually, I hope their on every system, these games are so shit hawt.

Looks great, but shouldn't this be blowing away all other games?
Eh? What do you mean?
Looks awesome, but ign mentioned that the pics in famitsu were taken from a 2 minutes trailer. GIVE US THE FULL TRAILER CAPCOM!

I mean RE4 is among the best looking console games of this generation. I guess I need some real gameplay footage to see the environments and stuff.

Capcom should consider doing a quick RE4 Xbox port to get the fanbase excited. It'd be nice to have GC visuals + PS2 extras in one package. :)

Hahah! I take it you aren't a programmer jarrod. Quick port? No such thing most times. :lol

Well the game is still probably pretty early, and dont forget that re4 was released at the end of this generation.
Just because re4 is probably (arguably) the best looking game this gen doesnt mean that re5 must be the best looking next gen game.

Sure, but at least with Xbox they'd be moving to a generally more capable architecture. I bet Capcom could get it done by the holidays and it'd be more than worth the effort.

There's no way the zombies are going to be constantly running at full speed, it just wouldn't be a RE game. Also, since they're carrying over the gameplay mechanics from 4 then the main character would be at a severe disadvantage without being able to run and gun.

Once again it'll be just like in 4. They'll walk for the most part, but sprint/run towards you to gain ground if you're too far away. Hell, they were walking in the earlier portion of this trailer. It's a cutscene people. They ran a lot in RE4's cutscenes as well but weren't constantly running in game.

yeah oli, the lava room was fuckin amazing! man i love RE4 cause it's filled with moment of genius like that. Thats why i'm anxious to see this title play well.

the director of RE2 is no slouch though.

the game definitely looks cg quality... especially in that last comparision shot.

I am definitely looking forward to it.

Small leap my ass. Download the ign insider trailer.

This looks so much better than RE4. The amount of geometry on screen is stunning.
I think the main character model could be improved. The facial animation is amazing but when I'm looking at him in screens he doesn't look much better than a RE4 character.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it also seems to me that given RE4, we can't be sure what to expect gameplay wise and that this trailer may have nothing to do with the final game.

i must admit the larger trailer looks CG, which is a compliment.

btw. i don't think the environment shot for RE is a fair one. I've played through and have seen jaw dropping envirments. that wasn't one of them. :lol

RE5 is more than a year away and looks amazing right now. *drool*
