RE5 trailer released

Hideki Kamiya is directing RE5? I highly doubt that if he is currently doing Okami at Clover.
 
Kamiya isn't directing Resident Evil 5.

He doesn't like to do sequals in general. And that's from his mouth.

Given I'm not too aware on the JPN side of things, I can guess (with reasonable substance) that the director of Resident Evil 5 is Minoru Nakai. The director of Onimusha 3 and I believe Onimusha 1. Both of which are Studio 2 games, which is what Resident Evil 5 is.
 
What's up with the cough at the end? :lol I'd understand if this was filmed at a conference or something, but this looks like direct feed. Maybe Capcom thought it'd add fear? Zombie cough! Or maybe... the main character gets sick again.

Like I said in the other thread, not really ALL I expected out of a next gen Resident Evil title. The environments are much better, but the character model doesn't seem like a next-gen leap from Leon. But I guess you can only make character models so life-like, and Leon's is almost perfect. Diminishing returns?

Hmm, IGN had their camera perfectly centered then, and the crowd was perfectly quiet except for the cougher. Not saying I don't believe you, but that's odd.

Anoop got video of everything - he drew the center position in the filming lottery and it looks great, so check for it on IGN later.

Like television and movies, lots of real time cutscenes in games use fixed camera angles.

Having fixed camera angles isn't bad in actual gameplay.

It allows for a cinematic experiences as well as not forcing the gamer to babysit the camera view.

Come now, consider what this actually is...

There is virtually no chance of them reverting to the old style. RE4 was a smash hit and this is Capcom.
 
Seeing that in motion gives me more comfort in the whole "next gen" thing. Yes, there are better graphics and such. More importantly though i'm looking at the overall character models. The way they are moving now, not so robotic but with seemingly fluid almost human movements. That was pretty cool, more please.
 
this gen they gave alot of polygon budget to faces to make them look better. Look at Leons gun and clothes in the RE4 shots. Not to mention the backround, lighting, and textures all look much better. I also have to say that is the best hair I've seen :lol

True but remember this is a teaser trailer, with all animation created specifically for it, and perhaps it'll be a cutscene too. But yeah let's hope! :)

Yes its a trailer, but I haven't seen anything this generation with as fluid almost human movement as this, cut scenes or otherwise. That's my point really, its a good sign of what's too come.

I don't really get what technology is there in next-gen that improves character animations. I understand about improved physics and such but I thought character movements would still be dependent on mo-cap and the skills of the animators right that won't really change that much?

For sure, I noticed that too.

Just isn't the actual animation of characters more limited by the developers' ability than the actual console's power?

Regardless, things are looking up for next-gen.

The MGS this generation are still the standard for real time animation in a cutscene. It's above this I think.
 
I think this is amongst the most impressive of the next-gen stuff I've seen. If Capcom puts this together looking anything like this trailer, it'll be awesome

Especially in 720p on a 50 inch widescreen :D
 
This is by far the most impressive demo I've seen out of Sonys camp and possibly MS. I really enjoyed the atmosphere.

1. I loved how those birds appeared to be a roof to that building. I guess thats where the static cameras really show their worth.
2. I love how fast the zombies moved. I'd like to see a mix of speeds but having a zombie coming at you like that is really freaky.
 
Doesn't he look like the spanish guy that helped Jill in Nemesis? Or did he end up dead? This cannot be Chris, he look way too different than in REmake... And I think Capcom can base their old character on those that were made for that remake, since they look so damn well real...

Er, that looks a lot alike. He just put his hair down and grew facial hair. Other than that, it looks very similar.

I disagree, even in MGS3 they still looked stiff. Good, but not as good as this. The real test actually will be when they talk. So far that seems to be the worst to get right.

If you consider Chris has probably aged the same number of years between C:V and RE5, and stressed all-to-hell from dealing with fucking zombies for the better part of his adult life, then chances are that's him.

Edit: Oh, the first pic is RE1 Chris. Hrm, well, still...
 
That looked awesome, granted it doesn't look like a big jump at first glance from RE4 keep in mind that we're looking at this baby in a low res trailer.

as for the comparisons, if Chris has been globe trotting and chasing after umbrella he could have beefed up a little and misplaced his razor

it's possible, aside perhaps from his eyes changing color

Wouldn't have had the slightest interest in this 'til playing 4. Now, it's my most anticipated title, pretty much. I'd also be fully behind a remake of 4 for next-gen consoles, if Santa is listening...

Really, if they're going to have lots of running zombies I bet the controls will be changed accordingly. I'm hoping for Devil May Cry-like controls (in terms of movement freedom). Based on that trailer it seems like Capcom wants to take the frantic action in Res Evil 4 even further, and I don't think tank controls would cut it in that case. I mean, the argument that tank controls are there to add suspense/make it harder to escape from slow enemies really goes down the drain with fast-paced action like that (yes I know about crimzon zombies in REmake, but I think this is more extreme if the enemy count is similar to Res Evil 4, for example).
 
If they give us FPS controls with 3rd/2nd person camera like in Gears of War, I'll take it as tangible signs of divinity and start going to church again. :lol
 
His eyes are too close of each other to be the same man (in reality). But it definitively could be him... By the way Solid, you probably chose the worst picture of Chris from REmake; he did not looked like a geek during the game IMO...

Wow this looks amazing. :D

Seems like it weont be out till well after PS3 launch however. Sony have some mean hardware.
