Well, if something happened, I don't mind being somewhat lenient... at this point we're pretty much past the folks who can't be bothered to show up for battles. It's just odd that we didn't hear from them at all.

It's been... weird. We didn't talk about it in the thread because Olive and I usually play each other every day just for fun. But I was out all weekend and didn't have a chance to play until sunday night. Since I got back, I've never seen olive online ever which is unusual in itself.

Uh oh... well, the goal was to run a round starting today and ending either Thursday night or Friday night, then a round after than that would end on Monday or Tuesday... but that might be a problem.

I thought I wouldn't have made it as far as I have. For sure I thought I was going to lose in the previous round, but I somehow won. Lets see if my luck continues.

If nabster wins that one, the tournament is over. If he loses that one then it would go to a final 1v1 with whoever did win the match.

Well, I'll be on tonight again. I don't have anything better to do except hard school projects that are due soon. I'll plan on 8 p.m. and later, if everyone's good with that. Even though I lose most of the time, the IRC bunch is still fun to play with.

Especially when I get to team up with nabster for 2v2. =P Once I learn how to use Snake, we'll be unstoppable!

Actually that was mostly luck and me camping away from the fights for the most part and waiting for items. I don't think my skill in the game carried me this far, although yes it's part of it. Technical skill is still important, mindgames aren't.

I used TLink over Meta Knight as I find he can live to higher percentages and is quick enough to get out of the way unlike Charizard. Those are the only 3 characters I can play. My "FFAs require little skill" is not limited to Smash Bros, I apply it to most games. It's more politics than anything. Weaker players will gang up on the stronger player to give themselves a better chance at winning. 1v1 or 2v2 or another combination of two teams is what works best.

In a tournament like this where Top 2 advance, it's a slightly different strategy. I was staying away from Mila last round because I knew he'd just beaten nabster with his G&W 1v1 and didn't want to engage in combat with him. The other two I'd never played so I figured chance of being good was better than fighting someone who I knew was good. However I got hit by some items and a WarioWare minigame I wasn't react to due to lag which screwed me over anyway. But yeah, it's politics >.>;

I probably shouldn't argue this point here though. We can take it to the smash topic on the gaming forum.

Oh and my prediction is the person who wins this tournament is someone who usually does 1v1 itemless matches >_> I'm telling you the skill required to do well in items matches is not really different from regular itemless matches. I remember someone said that the chances of the winner of the 1v1 and this tournament being the same are unlikely, but I still think that's false. Although a lot of the people left over in the 1v1 never entered this one I think.

We'll see, although I'm not doubting the truth of your claim at the moment. I would be curious about tracking the results of a few different tournaments, though.
