I have an appointment at the optometrist on Tuesday, and I'm due for a new pair of glasses. Can you recommend some glasses which would look good on my face? (If you haven't seen my picture recently, just imagine a volleyball with eyes and a goatee -- it's about the right shape and color.)

I was in the same boat too, I have to go shopping with friends because I'll NEVER be able to pick out a good pair without a second opinion.

On the other hand, I was looking at laser eye surgery options, and they look quite affordable. Most pairs of glasses cost around $225 (Cdn) for the frames, and then more for the lenses. Laser Eye Surgery is only $400 or so for each eye.

So I may just skip over glasses, which for me are quite cumbersome because my perscription results in thick lenses.

Have you tried contacts? I get a 6 month supply of the daily contacts and wear them each for a few days. 6 month supply lasts over a year for me.

If you are going to use them (or anything) everyday for hours on end, spending good money on them is well worth it. Right now bottom or top rimless are in fashion. Go for a darker color for certain as gold rimmed/silver rimmed still look very 90s. The smaller the size of the lens while remaining comfortable to see out of the better.

I agree with Fight for Freeform's initial sentiment. Have a girl with decent taste tag along when choosing frames...

I got some Magnetwist frames last July and have been very pleased with them. Prior to that I had Kenneth Cole and I like those, but Magnetwist is the leading brand for the sunglasses that clip on via magnetics which is just ridiculously handy. Plus they're titanium frames which can be useful as well. Pricey (with all the add-ons for my lenses and what have you, about $500), but worth it in my opinion considering how long you can wear a pair of glasses and how much you use them.
