Red Dead Redemption |OT| Whistling Morricone in the desert

The only glitches I got in the game were double girl, a game freeze, twice having to reload after the context sensitive button prompts vanished and a really weird blackwater glitch. My horse shot up in the air and the camera started panning around me Matrix-style while John was floating about 50 feet in the air on horseback.

Thieves Landing seems to be the most glitched area most of the trouble i was having was in that specific place. Like it was not allowing me to hitch my horse without it going haywire and the fast travel horse and cart was bouncing up and down.
yeah lot's of glitches, it looks ugly and the performance sucks

Just got my game. I was one of the people that were turned off from Rockstar after GTA4, and I was not going to get this game this soon (got a great deal, $38 amazon). I played a lot of hours of it and I love it. There are things to do in this game unlike GTA4 where you are pretty much limited to story missions. I like the random activities that can happen at any time. It makes the world seem more interactive, oh and I even like the mini games. I didn't like poker at first then I got the cheat costume and it made it more interesting. This should have been labeled GTA4.

Rockstar Redeemed.

Everywhere else has been perfect.

Fuck that place. Always too damn dark.

3 bounty hunter missions left and I can not find any got-danged wanted posters. Maybe there is somewhere I'm not checking...anybody have a list or link to all the places that wanted posters spawn?

You know, a few pages back I posted some very high praise for RDR, and that praise still stands, but I have to admit, I do agree with those detractors commenting that the game world feels very empty. There has been a persistent rumor that massive amounts of content got cut, and/or big features were cut after months of work, because they weren't working, because of budget, etc. Makes me wonder what the team had planned, early on in development.

This is the American Old West, or Frontier, if you will. There's already enough content (sure lots of it repeated) to fill a 40+ hour game.

So I whistle for my horse and when he spawns near the other side of the river does he appear. If anything I could tell this horse was derp because he ran into the river and not for slurp.

:'(

One thing is for certain, you won't see any of them being posted till at least 8-9am. The Sheriff actually comes out and puts them up. Sort of like going into a store when the owner isn't there, you walk out and see him walking towards the shop to open it.

Just mess around and eventually the posters will show. Although I'm not sure if you have to be at the near area for that to happen or not?

Fuck you R*! FUCK YOU!!! YOU KILLED JOHN FUCKING MARSTON!! That was just fucking bullshit!

I literally got mad at R* for that, you didn't kill Nico, you didn't kill any of the other fucking GTA character, but John?! Seriously! He was awesome... he needed a happy ending! *angry*

Something like this happened to me, and I had finally gotten myself a horse that looked almost exactly as Zorro's Tornado :(.

I nearly jumped out of my skin when a cougar slashed me in the back while I was picking flowers. I was not expecting that nor the noise.

I shot the damn thing 30 times.

I don't think this is true at all. All the ambient events that players encounter are literally designed to help ELIMINATE the loneliness of the Old West.

They're designed to give players various things to do on their treks to certain waypoints, as well as to convey the notion that things are happening in the world independently of you. With many of the random events also featuring some sort of violence or deliberate negligence of the law, it also helps to emphasize the "Wild" aspect of that time period.

But the game also puts a great deal of emphasis on lonesomeness as opposed to solidarity. Marston has almost no relation to many of the characters other than they may have info that he needs - he's basically going through the journey on his own, the solo cowboy on an adventure. The environment in RDR is huge but isn't littered with a significant amount of structures or other human-built objects - this is very purposeful, since industrialization had only began to creep into the West during the game's time period, and large swaths of land were empty (outside of the resident wildlife).

Litter this game's map and game world with dots and objects like it's Saints Row or Just Cause and you lose a great deal of the immersiveness of the setting, and it also doesn't gel with the time period.

I can't believe they killed him.
After all of what he have been through, He deserved a happy ending. :(

Edgar Ross should had died by the hands of Dutch or something! Then John Marston could live happy with his family! Seriously I'm Pissed... I didn't want Jack to turn into what John didn't want him to turn into.

Maybe I have god on my side or something, but for some reason, I have put a solid amount of time into the game and I have had NO issues at all when it comes to glitches, or freezing. I have had 1 or 2 points where I have experienced frame rate drops, but then it went right back to working again.

But question about my progress,
I just got done with the mission where you escort the army(?) train through the mexican country side, protecting it from rebels
, can any of you let me know how much I have left approximatly?

Amen to this. It's one of the first open world games where I've really just enjoyed the trip to where I'm going.

I completely agree about 'littering the map' with a bunch of things too ... would really detract from the overall ambiance of the game while riding.

I can now confirm that the AI cheats at Poker.

I was at the Blackwater High Stakes game, I have an Ace, and two Aces fall down on the table. Pretty secure hadn right?

One guy bets all in, despite me raising a fair amount. He must be pretty confident in his hand. How can that be?

I call, and he puts down double aces.

There were 5 fucking aces on the table. :lol It doesn't work that way!

I think the overcast sky is there because, for some reason, that part of the map gets crap framerates. No sun means no shadows to slow things down even more.

I get the "Old West Loneliness" thing they were going for, but in reality by 1911 the Old West wasn't just dying, it was at the end of the death rattle.
By 1914 it had been buried - Model T Fords were very affordable for average Americans, and towns like Armadillo had long since passed.
There would have been a lot more people, and more things going on, but I prefer it the way it was portrayed in the game.
Although I do wsh we could have seen more of a change after the Jack transition.

Yeah, that's for damn sure. There was one guy I was playing with. Always getting good hands on every turn. Either straights or flushes. Fucking ridiculous.

I'm in the final area of the game, and at some places in Tall Trees I'm getting this weird outline around my character and parts of the environment, and trees are fading in 50 feet in front of me. Don't you dare die on me now xbox, I'm so close to the end!!

Damn the bears in Tall Trees! Thanks for the info on the raccoons, got them. I was in the process of getting elk skin and the big horn skin. Had about 3 of each, heading back to save. Get killed by a bear. Redo this area, got about 2 of each, killed by a bear again. Third time, I just get 2 Big Horn skins, on the way to save, 3 bears maul me!

Screw those bears!

Why didn't you start a private free roam? Shooting other players is part of being in a public free roam.

EDIT: never mind, forgot about the achievement/trophy requiring public free roam, sorry.

Wow i started playing this game a couple days back.. it is SOOOOooooo glitchy!!

wow... numerous things just randomly glitch up and stop working... For example... I pulled out my gun while i was driving a horse and carriage... anddd.. then.. John stopped animating... he was just frozen in place... i could still drive and shoot etc etc... but he just was not animating..

Orrr I went to the movie house... and as soon as the movie started ALlllllll textures in the world disappeared.... I was only left with the polygon models and shading.... but everything was just Brown polygons everywhere... game was still playable but ya alittle annoying... Loading the game wouldn't fix it.. i had to restart the console.

Lets not even get into stuff warping, clipping through objects, teleportation... etc etc..
Game is MAJOR GLITCH CENTRAL!!! this is like Windows ME holy crap..

Game is still fun though.

It'd be nice in a Rockstar game to get to pick and choose sides to work for, with different outcomes.
Yeah, being able to pick one side of the other in Mexico would have reduced the 'errand boy' feel quite a bit.

GDJustin said:
- Racing! Imagine if there was a horse-racing league ~10 races total... escalating difficulty.
- Tournaments! Incredible there's no poker tourneys! They would be elimination-style, and would culminate in a big Blackwater tourney.
- Shooting arcade/minigame. Surely by 1911 they would have had some sort of primitive shooting gallery?
- Delivery missions. Start off easy. Just deliver this here within a time limit. But as you progress you begin being harassed by bandits/the law.
- Escort missions. Same as above.
- Robberies / Heists.
- Turret defense missions.

These are all off the top of my head, and with the possible exception of the shooting gallery, they are all made up of components from the main game as it exists today.

I know some of you might be thinking "races? deliveries? Escorts? These are terrible ideas!" but the point is A) They're side missions. B) They solve the problem of the game world being so empty and C) They are meant to be consumed 1-2 at a time to break up missions. As it is now, there's often very little to do between story missions.

Imagine if Mexico opened up another 3 poker tourneys, another 5 races, another set of 5 "defend this town" turret missions... etc. It would make the game feel much more full.

One of the things I enjoyed about GUN was the Pony Express missions. Obviously not still in business in 1910 (I don't think), but something similar would be awesome. And more races for sure. And more options for robberies would be awesome. But one the whole, I think they struck a pretty good balance.

Wow. I've had almost no glitches. Some odd control issues a couple times, and the textures went AWOL during poker in Blackwater, and maybe 3 freezes. In 2 playthroughs. Seems odd that so many people are having so many glitches, while others almost none. Bad run of discs?

I experienced about 2 glitches throughout 20 hours of game-time that made me go "Wow this is stupid"
