attention.

Obviously, but it's attention from random people they don't even know based on fraudulent posting, thus, I don't understand the motivation lol. I'm not talking about the verified people, as I guess I'm willing to give the reddit mods some credit, and maybe some of the verified people have heard their information from some sort of reputable source, and I guess then it is worth posting.

And nintendo extra is literally a worse name than wii u. Sounds like it's for larger people or something.

The one and only! https://www.reddit.com/r/Nintendo_NX/comments/4cyr2t/details_regarding_nx_console_nx_ue4_dev/

We're all taking this in jest right? "Haha those crazy leakers!"

Unsure honestly... he's eager to prove himself wrong though if we don't get that ND. Thank you for the link. I feel like Star Fox being in the ND is the biggest red flag. Seems unneeded at this point. We just had an ND with SF0 in it.

About the leaks in general. I dunno. We have LCGeek in here who has had good info previously and is surprisingly providing what is to me positive news. We have...how many verified Reddit leakers? Is it just the one in the OP and then this NEX leaker is trying to get verified also? If that's correct... I guess it potentially lends more veracity to their leak but at this point I'm taking anything even verified with a grain of salt. I don't know any of the leakers personally and that's about what it would take at this point for me to believe text alone for certain, what with the recent debunked leaks. If I'm liable to believe anything ITT, though, it's the stuff from LCGeek. How about you?

Reading the leak..."One Nintendo game will use UE4." Has Nintendo ever used an engine like that for one of their own games before? I thought they only used proprietary engines.

Eh. These people who lie are just trying to see how long and how badly they can fool us. It's pathetic but they probably think we are pathetic for taking them seriously

I'm not taking them seriously lol. Since the "ddr5" guy I've basically ignored anything that isn't verified coming from reddit.

And even the verified stuff I'm going to take with a huge grain of salt, as they may just be lying about whatever sources they have to the reddit mods, and I don't know how thorough the reddit mods are either.

I wouldn't even believe the verified, I still have a hard time believing Nintendo would opt for Puma or Puma+.

What did I miss in the last few hours? There's an announcement of some kind coming?

ETA: thraktor, does your megapost mean the Nintendo Extra leaker's info is any more or less legit or possible?

Thraktor basically narrowed down the two most possible choices for Nintendo to go with for CPU.

So far, me, Thraktor and Pokemaniac believe the clearest answer would be the Cortex-A72 ARM processor because it's more efficient, it's cooler and gives them a better CPU performance increase over Xbox One and PS4. It also means they get the benefit of using the same ISA as their handheld.

If they went Puma, the performance increase is actually very small over Xbox One and PS4, it runs hotter, and they'd be locked into Zen and other x86 processors with less benefits for Nintendo unless there's some kind of thing they figure out.

Either is a possibility but I personally believe it's going to be the A72.

So far the only legit person with actual credentials of leaking previous Nintendo CPU's is LCGeek, and that I trust over the Reddit leakers. But they also don't know the architecture just that the performance is better than the Xbox One and PS4.

The only way I could see that being remotely possible is if Retro's game is running on UE4, but even then it's a pretty big longshot.

I don't think puma would be all that surprising honestly if amd said look, we'll basically tweak the ps4 Apu with puma cores and give you a good deal. I could see nintendo going for that.

To be honest I'd rule it out purely on the basis that he claims to know the final name of the console. There's absolutely no reason Nintendo would tell any third parties (let alone small indie devs) that before the public reveal. He's also far too specific about where he's working. If you're leaking info that's behind a tight NDA you want to make it difficult for the ninjas to find you, you don't just go ahead and tell them that you're in a mid-sized European developer working on an indie UE4 game that you're porting from PC.

Although, yes, his claim that CPU performance on NX exceeds PS4/XBO by about 30% is within the realm of possibility, but that doesn't mean he knows any more than you or I do.

I would be incredibly surprised if Sony didn't either own or at least have exclusive rights to the Liverpool APU used in PS4. They would have paid AMD a lot of money to design the chip, and they wouldn't let AMD just hand it (or a lightly modified version of it) over to one of their competitors.

They use Unity for prototyping.

The only reason I can think of Nintendo having a UE4 license is if they have it for 3rd party collaborations.

Star Fox news makes no sense at all. An embargo on the game literally lifted today and the next one is the review embargo - as far as Zero is concerned. Guard preview embargo lifts in a week.

Bingo. Would be beyond absurd to have a Direct on NX/Xelda and talk about upcoming Wii U titles such as Star Fox. It'll be an all in NX info or bust.

Not that I trust the leaker, but Nintendo wouldn't shut the hell up about Pikmin 3 well after it came out, so I wouldn't put it past them to talk about Star Fox at that Direct.

Pikmin 3 had DLC, the animated shorts, a demo release, and whatnot to discuss at least.

It appeared in so many Directs, its all flooding back. I suppose Nintendo had not much to show back then but would like to imagine there would be a line drawn when they talk NX.

IMO the leaker is probably fake but I don't know why he mentions a Direct. If there isn't one announced in the next few days then he's pretty much automatically discredited.

Yeah. That's strange. However, it's not exactly crazy. If it is a direct for the NX then I can understand Nintendo not doing the typical "announce a direct 48-72 hours" beforehand thing they do. So he's not exactly taking a big stab in the dark.

There's no precedent for a Direct that wasn't a"E3 Digital Event" to be announced to early though? However, the hype, oh the hype, if they say "NX Direct in 48 hours, kay thx cya!"

Maybe the leaker is fake and is just tired of trolling those nintendrones now.

Or maybe the leaker is actually Bill Trinen.

We'll find out soon-ish I guess

Guy makes ten different predictions about Nintendo. He misses nine, but he's lucky and nails the one about the Direct. Six months later, he's back with a new "rumour" and gaming blogs say the source is hot because he was right about the Direct.

That's why I think it is strange, but if it is for the NX then I wouldn't be shocked. However, considering how tight-lipped Nintendo has been I dont see it I think it will be you typical announcement. 48 hours, see ya then.

It's a gamble but there isn't much to lose, if he is wrong he can just leave that account and start another one with some other bullshit.

I'm sorry, is there a mysterious second leaker now?

Haven't...we...seen...this...before
we've like 3 leakers right now and more to come from the shadows.
There's a war in the underworld of the secret mystic leakers sects, a deathly sacred race for the ultimate NX leak. Fake or true, whatever.

Unsure if this was covered. But the Nintendo Extra guy was deemed "unverified" on Reddit:

Update 3: Alright, final update. OP claims to have connections to NoE. We reached out to a UK source and they immediately threw up red flags based on some key aspects about the proof provided. Somethings not adding up so we're gonna play it safe and leave this Unverified.
