Perhaps I'm a complete idiot. But using direct connect shouldn't it be possible to use remote play without even having an internet connection?
I ask this because that's what I'm assuming, PS4 and Vita send signals to one another.
Having enabled direct connect, I get messages that the wifi signal isn't strong enough from time to time.
I just got the Vita and I've tried it a few times, earlier today it worked, but it was crappy and I was 5 feet away from the PS4. Tried again a few hours later and it worked so well. Been trying again since and it's either horrible or just not strong enough to connect even though the two devices are a foot away from one another.
Lastly, when I go to network settings on my vita I can see a PS4 access point, which I'm assuming is my PS4 because I can't see that option on any of my other devices, tablet, laptop, pc etc. But, it's asking for a password, no idea what it is.
Any help would be really appreciated and yes I've read the OP and did a couple hours worth of research and messing about with no luck.
Edit: Since making this post, I can't connect at all. It just won't connect and I have no idea as to why. I have ports forwarded, my ps4 is wired directly to my modem, I have it set to direct connect, but even without it doesn't work, wifi power savings is turned off, my upload speed is just over 10 and download is 18. My wifi security is AES. PS3 RP feature is not turned on.
The only thing I haven't tried is the 2.4GHz WiFi connections because the link in the OP is borked. I don't care about playing from a distance for now, I just want to be able to use RP so the TV is free for something else.
Edit #2: So I managed to get it to work somewhat/hopefully, I took my vita close to my modem and it seemed to be working pretty well. But when I went further away and closer to my PS4 it was worse, which had me thinking that it was not even trying to connect directly as it was set to do. I then deleted my access point on the Vita and ever since it has been working pretty well as long as I remain close to the PS4, although the sound cuts out for a split second every so often, but that's not a huge issue. We'll see how this works over time, but at least it's progress.
