Is this not a clickbait and are they actually closing the studio like the title of the thread implies or are they closing the office and having workers go remote like is written in the article?

Which is it?

It’s clickbait nonsense. There’s no actual ‘Report’ that the studio is shutting down. OP made that up. Not for the first time

People are jumping to conclusions because of that 2000 people being kicked out and previous history of their game studios, many of them don't exist anymore.

And being turned into an asset/support sweatshop for COD...
It would be more dignified to shut it down.

If it was making new games the studio would grow, not get chopped in half.

Half your staff being laid off sure is a nothingburger.
Gutting their studio, who was already “just” a CoD support studio, closing their office, and leaving some people that were working remote (some permies and contractors, MS loves contractors) surely is great signs for the studio to resume their standalone games days.

This thread is great to see the influencers / astroturfers that just won’t stop trying to find any possible silver lining or gotcha to turn the narrative around.

Technically they weren't just the CoD support studio as they are also working on Crash Team Rumble. It's a multiplayer live service game and not a singleplayer game, that is true, but it isn't Call of Duty either

It's not a good look for the studio at all, and quite frankly if they end up shut down I will not be shocked at this point, but the thread title needs to be changed. The studio hasn't been shut down.

Great trend there… still…

If it helps, there were some rumors they were working on Spyro 4 as well. They were teasing it a few times in a similar manner they were teasing that Crash's multiplayer game
Gutting the studio down will likely not help. So rumours could be just more random chat trying to paint the mega acquisition as good for the company and gamers…

Definitely

But rumors about Spyro aren't tied to acquisition as they were happening even before it. Spyro 4 was teased multiple times over years. Toys for Bob teased some plans for a new Spyro game on Crash's 4 artbook, platinum trophy for Reignited Trilogy was called "Party like it's 2024" (as this year happens to be Year of the Dragon), Activision known leaker once posted a list of several games in development and Spyro 4 was mentioned among them. Majority of these games listed by this leaker were confirmed to be true over years. These are only vague teasers though and with Microsoft owning Activision they can always go in a different direction with this

Hmmm. Almost half of the studio has been let go. Their last Crash game was DoA. And they’ve been supporting COD for the last 3 years. Safe to say this studio is toast unless COD moves away from a yearly scheduled release.
