Ditching the debate is the smartest thing Trump has done all campaign. This was the last chance for people to beat Trump in a debate setting before the first primaries. So naturally, by not showing up, people are not going to watch, and now the poll numbers are going to stay the way they are.

I think FOX will try to prop up Cruz in that debate so that he beats Trump in Iowa.

Since the other candidates don't like Cruz at all, FOX runs the risk of having at least one of them say they won't go either if FOX can't get Trump in, because anyone else showing up will just be used to make Cruz sound better than them.

I really do think he will show up. He has threatened to boycott debates before, yet he shows. He did what he did just to get the media to talk about him more for a couple days.
