Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition PC Trailer

Every entertainment medium can claim a handful of groundbreaking works that are worth revisiting over the years. For example, I'll buy Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park every single time they're re-released, because each new version (usually!) brings extra refinement and clarity to the overall package.

The same can be said of Resident Evil 4, one of Capcom's best-selling and highest-rated games. Each time it's revisited, we get an improved experience retooled for modern machines. Today we're announcing a brand new version of the game for Steam (and Windows PC in EU) that'll feature sharper textures, crisper text, a silky smooth 60fps framerate and full Steam support (Achievements, Steam Cloud, Trading Cards, global leaderboards, full game controller support) for $19.99 / €19.99.

RE4 for PC/Steam includes all the stuff you've seen in previous iterations (including Separate Ways and subtitles in French, Spanish, Italian, German and Japanese), just in the highest visual quality and smoothest fluidity ever released by Capcom. You can pre-purchase now on Steam to get an 80-page digital archive and the 62-track RE4 OST.

PC gamers will be able to play the groundbreaking survival horror masterpiece in the highest visual fidelity ever with stunning HD running at a smooth 60 frames per second for the first time. Resident Evil 4 will be available on February 28, 2014 for $19.99/€19.99.

Alongside the announcement, the Steam pre-order campaign has also gone live today which includes a digital soundtrack with more than 60 tracks and a digital artbook for those that purchase early. The new PC version will include everything from the prior iterations including subtitle support in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese as well as previously released bonus content such as the Separate Ways epilogue.

Resident Evil 4 received numerous “Game of the Year” awards when it debuted and currently stands as one of the best-reviewed games of all time with an incredible 96 ranking on MetaCritic. A complete visual overhaul has been performed to bring this revered title to the highest graphical quality ever. Fully optimized for the wide screen, texts have been sharpened and textures have been upgraded on characters, backgrounds and in-game objects.

In Resident Evil 4, special agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue the U.S. President’s daughter who has been kidnapped. Finding his way to a rural village in Europe, he faces new threats that are a departure from the traditional lumbering zombie enemies of the earlier installments in the series. Leon battles horrific new creatures infested by a new threat called Las Plagas and faces off against an aggressive group of enemies including mind-controlled villagers that are tied to Los Illuminados, the mysterious cult which is behind the abduction.

To complement the exciting new direction, the game introduced a modernized control scheme, rear third person view and gameplay mechanics which have blazed the trail for subsequent action titles.

The Resident Evil® franchise, which pioneered the horror genre in video games, has sold 60 million units since 1996 and spawned a series of successful motion pictures that have grossed over $900 million worldwide. As a truly global entertainment brand, the franchise has also expanded to CG anime, manga, novels and numerous merchandising lines.

But RE5 is already on Steam, I don't want to play the inferior game.

I'll buy it for the Ada missions.

yes!

finally I can see for myself what the fuss is all about

You have to remember the time period. What we had available at the time be it graphics on consoles and how different it was from Resident Evil 3 and that there wasn't much else like it.

I expect a lot of threads saying how Resident Evil 4 is a bad game as now its not graphically impressive and we've had multiple games since that do something similar.

I love how hard they are pimping the framerate. It's gonna be so weird getting to finally see it after so many years and playing it on 4 different platforms.

That page better go up ASAP because I need to buy this shit so bad.... for the 5th time.

I just repurchased the Wii edition.

Think I'll hang onto it until this is out and I've read impressions though because, uh, Capcom.

I was just about to play the game again on Dolphin. Fuck that, it can wait.

Someone needs to mod in Wiimote support though...

A week and a half before Titanfall. Will give me something to do to ease the wait, RE4 is no short game. I haven't played it since 2005, it will be pretty new to me, I don't remember a lot about it.
