It will be glorious (if the game is easy to mod, that is).

Maybe we will finally be able to see Mafia Leon and armored Ashley in cut-scenes ;)

I've actually never played this game because of how easily freaked out I get, even though I've had the Wii version in my possession a couple times.

Oh boy.

Wccftech is garbage. Complete garbage.

So now the naysayers can shut up about this game not having 60fps cutscenes and not having higher resolution than 1080p.

Seriously, when was the last time Capcom put out a shit port? Especially when QLOC was on the job.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

"SHADOW QUALITY"

wonder what that really does, the game doesn't really have that much of shadows outside of certain parts and really poor ones for enemies.

I can't even tell how many times I died at the first boulder until I finally learned that 5+6 means aim + ready knife.
And then the game pulled 1 + 3 on me :'(

I played the first 1/3rd of the game with kb and no lighting. It looked and controlled like shit and I still believed this was one of the very best games I've ever played.

When the lighting patch was released and I bought my very first gamepad in my history as a gamer specifically for this game I was in heaven.

I played with no mods as well, so the first time I played the game I had no idea what the hell the numbers meant, had to search around to find a thread with the answer (game was fairly new at the time). Think it was LCtrl, LShift, Rshift and Enter for all the button prompts that would appear, though it was like 6-7 years ago now.

I can't believe I pre-ordered it.

Really glad I never did get it again on PS3 considering how much of a copy and paste job that was. That 60FPS trailer made me compelled to experience RE4 in the most supreme vision possible.

Psh, 15? Looks like a soap opera on fast forward. 12FPS is where it's at, son. Twice as cinematic.

I FINALLY GET IT! This is why novels are considered such high art! Those are like, less than 1 frame per second. Except for those damn speed-readers.

And paintings! Those are one frame, FOREVER. MOST ART! BEST ART!

Thanks for the links Iron Badger

Magic is gone at 60 FPS

I actually agree with most of that post.

60FPS for cinematic storytelling just doesn't work (For me anyway). And feels completely awkward.

Personally I play a ton of games at 30FPS and 60FPS(Even higher for MP games. At least 120FPS. And personally I can see the difference in framerates VERY easily. Even beyond 70+). Depending on the context. (Like if I was playing The Mercs in RE, I would absolutely need 60FPS for best precision. But in the Single Player not trying to bother getting achievements I prefer 30FPS by far. It has a certain weight with the movement that feels more cinematic. /shrug)

Different strokes different folks of course. But The Hobbit at 48FPS definitely didn't feel cinematic at all. Nor "Realistic". There is a certain feel to the pacing of the frames at low framerates like 24 and 30FPS that 60FPS just doesn't feel right with when it comes to cinematic style storytelling.

This is one reason I lamented the MGS HD collections, at least put a damn option in there man. The 60FPS in MGS3 was as inconsistent as the original 30FPS. Not helping at all with the inconsistency.

That "cinematic" argument for games is bunk because film is a series of still images that is "exposed" for 1/24th of a second, so when something moves while being exposed, it blurs near-seamlessly into the next frame. There is no exposure time in games, so 30fps just looks more jittery.

It anything, I was playing Quake and Doom at 100fps, and now I'm playing games at 60fps :(

Hence things like camera simulation and motion blur (If you go frame by frame in a film, there is a lot of blurring between frames)

But also: I'm of course an outlier and as my name suggests..

Devs, take note...

That 60fps trailer convinced me to pre order the game. If your game is running at 60fps, please make 60fps footage available. Compressed YouTube video doesn't cut it anymore.

Playing the game before the lighting patch was hilarious, especially when you got to the castle or the prison later in the game. Snow-white walls, corridors lit up. Atmosphere was nowhere to be seen, and yet the game was still great :lol.

Haha yes, once I installed the patch, all I was getting was PS2 lighting but it was so MUCH better than the pre-patch situation that the graphics looked almost like nextgen to me.

That's some amazing insight, I'll have to keep this in mind.

You cracked the code! The true reason games will never be considered art is finally revealed.

I remember that the PC port of MGS1 had all cutscenes locked to 24fps unlike the 30fps of the PSX version. Only the PC version could be that cinematic, thanks Kojima!

For those curious, this is what Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition looks like rendered in 4K in Dolphin.

30 fps, 360 controller support, no texture packs, 4xSSAA, downsampled to 1080p.

All these controller scrubs.

See you say that but sometimes playing on a keyboard was way better than a controller. Quick time events for starters. I had some generic PS2 knockoff controller at the time that had the buttons labeled a bit wierd to say the least but seeing as the game just prompted you to press 2 & 4 for example with little to no context to which buttons they actually. So unless they were numbered to their dinput counterparts it was an exercise in trial and fucking error until you remembered what was what.

I got an email update from ResidentEvil.Net about the new online events for Revelations and 6, it also gave the news about RE4 but confirmed that it won't have ResidentEvil.net support. I wasn't expecting it to have it but it would have been cool to have online events etc. Ah well.

I said £20 was too much. Now streaming is here and I can ply it in the living room.

Saw it for £15, apparently that's a fair price in my brain.... Nnnng, spending here I come.

Do you guys think we will be seeing Code Veronica HD after this?

And RE1, 2, Nemesis, RE Remake, RE 0. I hope so, i'd kill for these games on Steam.
I'll buy the whole thing instantly even if it cost $100

I really hope RE 4 sells good. I pre-ordered and can't wait to play it again. Last time i've played was in 2005 when it was released on PS2.

The PC ports of those HAVE to come to Steam, as they are already done and only need the FF7/8 treatment.

It would be funny to finally have CV on PC. I remember all those fans asking for PC release on Capcom's official forum when the game was released on Dreamcast and PS2 :lol.

There was already a Code Veronica X on XBL/PSN, right?

Edit: Oh, that's just a port of the GameCube Port of Code: Veronica. Yeah, HD would be nice

It wasn't just a simple port. They converted the game to MT Framework engine thus vastly improving lighting:

Of course, it's still has low-poly (when compared to nowadays' games) models and low-res textures, because those were left untouched.

I love how there are maybe 2 or 3 seconds of gameplay in that trailer. Everything else is a montage of action-oriented scenes from cut-scenes and FMVs :lol

o_O God the castle is so beautiful

Count me in as wanting to see CVX HD on PC too eventually.

Wow, that looks surprisingly good. It's really a testament to the quality of the original graphics, especially the textures.

That and the amazing power of downsampling.
