Resident Evil Nostalgia Thread

No way I'm the only one here who is bleeding his heart out with the nostalgic good memories with the old Resident Evil games.... Re1 RE2 RE3 RE:CD REmake and RE0.

The prerendered backgrounds.... the good music.... the amazing atmosphere and the isolation feelings.... the save rooms.... solving puzzles and searching for keys to unlock doors.... and the old feelings that the story and the characters are connected in a very good way... and of course THE ZOMBIES!!!

The over the shoulder camera that RE4 brought to the series is great, supper great and amazing and I LOVE IT... but in the same time I hate all the other things that RE4 and then RE5 changed in the series.

I miss the old creepy feelings, the tension moments and the jumpy ones too!!

Now now, this thread isn't about comparing the new RE with the old ones... or how RE Revelations brought back some elements from the old Classic ones.

This thread is only about sharing our nostalgic good old memories we once had with the classic ones.

And how DESPERATE we are for REmake HD port and of course... REmake 2 :(

anyway... here some pictures and tracks to get this thread rolling:

and of course the save rooms themes which I miss SO MUCH :(

RE1 Save Room
RE2 Save Room ( it's my favorite <3 )
RE3 Save Room
RE:CV Save Room
REmake Save Room
RE0 Save Room

Post pictures or tracks that means something to you from the old classic RE games, anything that hit this nostalgic nerve inside your head.

and share also your memories too.

for example... one of my absolute good memories is buying RE2 in 1998 with my cousins and sleep over to stay all night alone in the basement with the lights turned off playing it... and all of the sudden while running in the hallway these zombies hands start grabbing Leon from the window and we all screamed so loudly that my aunt came down in shock with such a horror look at her face and like ( what in the deepest hell was that screams about O_O" ).

Oh RE....

I miss you :(

Revelations got me on a classic RE kick. I just bought REmake, and 2/3 off of PSN. Looking forward to playing them for the first time this weekend. :o

Code Veronica X is definitely my favorite of all the RE games, with the possible exception of 4. Love everything about it.

I beat RE3 again before picking up Revelations. I'd kill for a XBLA pre-rendered RE game. I'd slay angels for a RE2 REmake game.

I wouldn't mind if RE6 repeated something like Lost In Nightmares from RE5, Capcom knows they can do that stuff if they want, they're just not interested or something.

Also, there's something great about REmake, no matter how it's now a ten year old game, it doesn't look or feel old. Dunno what it is, but it feels like that to me.

So many good and terrifying memories associated with the first three games and the GC REs. I'll never forget the first time I stepped into room with the long dining table on REmake. I was just amazed by REmake's atmosphere and the first zombie encounter left me with the meanest urge to explore the game as much as possible.

I also loved how beautiful RE0 looked as well. Billy and Rebecca were also a fantastic change of pace. I loved RE4, but those games share a special place in my heart along with the best videogames have to offer.

Love them all. REmake the most out of the tank titles. Survival Horror perfection along with Silent Hill 2.

I still prefer Resident Evil 4 above all of the RE titles though.

I'm a massive RE fan so I can enjoy even the more questionable titles. Love Dead Aim.

While I would like a RE2 remake in the same style as REmake, rather than in an RE4 style, that's as far as my desire for old-school RE games go. I think we have a very nice and solid variety of titles using that style and I honestly would not like to see a brand new title designed in a such a manner, as it would be a desperate and probably half-assed attempt at trying to recapture a magic only the likes of Shinji Mikami and Hideki Kamiya could fulfill.

In terms of in-game universe story progression, what we have now in the series from RE4 is rather quite suitable, irrelevant of whether or not you like the gameplay style. I'm also quite excited to see how Capcom balance the horror with the action in Resident Evil 6. Resident Evil 4 was a tense game many times throughout, though RE5 was a bit weak. Overall, my enjoyment hasn't dwindled whatsoever.

REmake Would looks awesome in HD... Check out THIS!

I really wish they would do a classic RE game with the over the shoulder camera from RE4... it would be perfect and will please the old fans!

RE5 LON was a very good example...

I also hate that they are killing the isolation feelings and the atmosphere by forcing a co-op partner on us.... JUST WHHHHHHHHHHHHY?????????

Although 1 and Nemesis are my favorite, I still think the upgraded shotgun noise from RE2 is the most convincing "you just fucked up whatever you shot" sound effect to date.

Resident Evil 2 was my first Playstation game and my first RE game. I picked up both from a nearby Wallmart. After beating RE2 and Suikoden I immediately went and played RE1. Thus, a bond was created between me and Capcom.

I had to invite friends over to watch RE2's CG intro. It looked like real life in some scenes.

RE2 still has the best cover as well. I picked it up based on the cover alone.

Yeah, I played 2 in PC (dat hard mode) and Chris had that shotgun in Extreme Battle.

I remember how the sound clipped and cracked hard on my speakers. I thought they would break down at some point.

This would have to be the ultimate prototype find in the history of gaming.

Someone needs to get on that soon.

At least one individual has publicly shown he has a version of the beta. He toyed with a RE forum community before refusing to release it. He asked for thousands of dollars in exchange.

Code: Veronica has to be my favourite (I'm really hoping they being back the Veronica virus), although Darkside Chronicles retold it/changed it way better. The voice acting was better too, sounds a lot eerier.

^I love the RE 2 cover as well. I don't have a favorite RE game though, I love too many of them. I'd want another Outbreak more than anything else too.

1st time I played RE1 I played as Chris and found it way too hard so I never played it again, about 6 months later I read in a magazine that Jill was actually the easy mode.
Doh!

When I finally did get into it I wasn't so great with my saves and in the end I had to get from the 1st Tyrant encounter to the end with red health and no herbs/1st aids. Took me so many attempts but I did it.

RE2 memories include having a competition with friends to see who get the furthest in the one hour demo. My friend got all the way to the sewers. My other big memory is watching him do a knife run for the whole game and only beating Birkin with only a little bit of time left on the clock.

It's my favourite series after Metal Gear and I'm one of the few from the 1st game who actually enjoyed RE4 and RE5's changes.

The first is the scariest and most atmospheric one, but 2 has always been my favourite.

I've played it like 30-40 times through and know every item location and every line spoken from memory. Just played both scenarios last week and it hasn't aged at all.

Zero is the only one I don't really care for because of those damn leech-monsters and the bit gimmicky character switching. The parts that connect it to 2 are cool though.

When it was released on the DC... I was totally blown away!!!

It was so perfect for a RE fan, and I loved how the camera worked in it.... and how they focused really good on the story and the characters... and boy the game was long in a very nice way!

Back in ze day it's release was hot shit on the DC. I remember IGN giving it some crazy high score and downloading some of the opening videos on slow ass internet. People may hate on it now but it was a goty contender when it came out.

ahh memories of being scared relentlessly while watching my bro play these....bad times.
freaking william screaming sherry as a monster.

Resident Evil Chew 2 was my first PSX game and I loved it. 5 is the only other entry I've played.

I'd love to have a collection of the games in 480p. Playing the psone games on hdtvs is a little taxing. I wish I had the dreamcast versions of 2 and 3; but playing the original with more visible character models would be nice.

I have very fond memories of Resident Evil and RE2 back in the day. I've played all the others, but these are my faves.

Hell, I was into Resident Evil before the first game even came out. I'd drool over the screen shots of the first game in magazines months before it was released. It just looked so different than anything else out there. So I counted the days until Resident Evil came out for the Playstation and was there day 1 to pick up my copy.

That copy, of course, I still have. (And it's in mint condition to boot.) It's one of my prized game possessions.

Oh yeah, RE nostalgia, cool, hey guys, let's danc--

*record screech*

*door swings open, and RE4, RE5 and RER walk in with Fonzi jackets, collars popped, hands in pockets*

RE4/RE5/RER: "Hey guyz, what's dis? Shitty tank control oldies? Pfffffft!"

*RE4, RE5 and RER shoots the old REs in the kneecaps and roundhouse kicks them... RER charges its roundhouse kick first*

I couldn't tell you how many times I played through the Resident Evil 2 demo. I think I have never been so hyped for a game.

I don't know if you realize this, but RE4 and 5 (discluding Revelations because of strafing) both have tank controls.

Different viewpoint though.

Code Veronica on the DC was my favourite Resi game. The right balance of gunplay and survival horror. None of this Resi 4 & 5 Rambo rubbish.
