Resident Evil Revelaitons |OT| 3D Jill Sandwiches

In the middle of Episode IV. About 4:30 in. Quick impressions:
+ Really digging the design of the Jill & Parker sections. Structure of the boat is as old school RE as we are going to get.
+ Good ship ambiance. Moody soundtrack.
+ Limited supplies, ammo, etc.
+ Magic/Storage boxes are now gun customize safe havens. Love it.
+ Graphics/visuals are nice.
-"Previously on Resident Evil..." is out of place and questionable.
-Jessica is such a whore.
-Chris/flashback/non boat sections are boring and feel like filler. I would have really preferred the entire game to take place on the boat playing as Jill & Parker.
-Can't mix herbs. =(
-Weird ranking system. A rank which averages two categories? Why show the time it took to complete a section if they don't even take it into account? And accuracy and death? Why not punish me for using herbs? In all my years of gaming I think this is one of the oddest ranking systems I've ever seen. Not the worst (Lost Planet 2 holds that one), but definitely questionable.
Nevertheless, I am still enjoying it for what it's worth. It's ALMOST a return to form, but it's certainly not quite there yet. Will check out Raid mode with a buddy once I finish the main game. I'm sure that will be cool, at least.

If you're a high enough level you can do it on your own. Just have to grind. But co-op does help, especially the last 4 levels.

yes, two screens/12 slots in the beginning. But you can upgrade it later. I have 24 slots now.

I usually would like "Previously on..." kind of stuff in my games because I love Japanese cheese/melodrama. But in my RE games? I don't know how I feel about it. The series just seems like a big joke to me now when it was legitimately cool back in the day.
Jessica is such a throwaway, non-RE feeling character. I was so done with her when she blurted out some line about her ass or whatever during Episode II. Also, mixing herbs is such an RE staple. Now herbs have replaced first aid sprays as full heals. Just doesn't feel right to me.
I know there is an achievement for not using herbs, but that still doesn't rectify the odd ranking system. Seriously, accuracy and deaths? Averaging two categories? Soooooo wiiiiierd. But whatever, I'm still digging the game for the most part.

I got stuck at the elevator and keep dying from running out of ammo and I guess missing the targets. You know playing as Parker Luciani.

Just beaten campaign mode...
I'm not going to post anything about it right now other than this: it was fucking brilliant!
So good. Parker is a fucking boss, he's my new favourite character as of now. RE is 9th in my activity log for all time played but top for average playtime, I somehow played for nearly six hours alone today!
I haven't even touched the missions or raid mode yet. I really hope this does well in the long run, I'd love us to get another.
It actually has me looking forward more to RE6 too, despite feeling a little let down by 5.

So far I've made it up to the promenade in Chapter 3.
From what I can tell, they're definitely trying to combine old and new more than ever. Revelations takes a page from Lost in Nightmares. Creepy, dark, gothic atmosphere. Enemies that you can hear from around the corner. Combat in tight spaces. Definitely good stuff.
The corridor shooter part with Parker wasn't bad. It was like an action-focused interlude. A fine way to break things up. I prefer the "main" story with Jill and Parker, though.
I've been trying to decide what options to use. I like gyro aiming a lot, but I also like the full strongest 3D effect, and I don't see these two things as compatible. I've tried to figure out if I enjoy the 3D enough to forgo the gyro sensor, and I'm starting to believe that the 3D is worth it. Takes some getting used to and has some ghosting effects, but after using it for a bit it definitely makes a difference with the visuals. More aliasing, yes, but the environments just looks better when they pop out at you.
I will say that my hands have cramped a few times. Makes me want to buy a special grip. A game of this intensity doesn't work as well with the 3DS design as, say, Mario 3D.

You should buy the hand grip sold on Amazon for 9 bucks. It makes a huge difference and feels very comfy.

No, it's not that tons of people are buying them, it's that there aren't any available in the first place. A friend and I went to about 6-7 Gamestops and no stores had the game available, only for pre-orders. We managed to find 2 extras the guy sold us at a Toys R Us.
