Nearly identical once I mention that RE2 and REmake seem to go back and forth on my list. Right now REmake is riding high from my REmaster experience. Though I am due for an RE2 playthrough (I play most of the mainline games at least once a year)....
RE3 doesn't get enough love. Nemesis is still the best mechanic an RE has had. You know how Silent Hill progressively destroys what you thought were the rules for when the world changes into Hell? RE3 does that with "zoning" threats in Resident Evil. The thought that reaching a door no longer meant safety was disturbing.
I think the Throwback Map Pack (on PS4) is the first time I've more or less had $5 stolen by a company. Whether I should be angry at Capcom or Sony, I don't know.
It's just a bit of a bummer since I paid for the content and still can't access it, meaning it remains a gap in one of my favorite games.
How to get the medal that says defeat Alex in sub-level without taking damage? I've done it twice without taking damage and I still haven'tt earned it.

Are you 100% you aren't taking damage? I think whenever she does her goo spit thing or comes down from the vents she will hit you, but not knock you down. I would make sure you just unload every single thing you have on her as soon as the fight starts and kill her as fast as possible

. That was quite satisfying and this pair of campaigns is better than REv 1's overall. Claire's Episode 4 shouldn't have been so short, I feel. I did finish the Campaign with the bad ending days earlier, but being a Type-A, I consider a bad ending a failure and got bummed out by it. So I just replayed it today.
At first I didn't understand how that one decision made that much of a difference and didn't think much of it to change it when I played Episode 3 the week before. Then I noticed that aside from
the achievement pointing to Moira shooting the gun, there was now a faint image of Claire in front of Moira on the episode select screen when Episode 3 is highlighted
. Today, I replayed to fulfill the conditions for the Good ending
(now Moira in front of Claire in the same episode select screen)
and it made much more sense, as
Moira overcame her fear of guns to rescue Claire, survive the 6 month period of The Struggle, and rescue Natalia
. The true endgame was worth the replay.
Still annoyed that I got the bad ending first, If only because it feels like I stumbled into it instead of trying and failing to complete something. But, I can just count it as being a completist and wanting to get everything in the game done. Which I will, starting with S-Ranks and Campaign collectibles.
Re: the ending-deciding QTE: when I first played it I switched to Moira only to be told to switch back to Claire by the game. My guess is it just shows the switch prompt after a set amount of time, which is kind of poorly designed if so.
I had the same happen to me. This is probably how I screwed it up and didn't replay it earlier.
As for Raid Mode, it's great. With how fleshed out and improved it is this time around, it's clear Capcom recognized how popular the original Raid Mode was in REv1/UE and how hooked people got to it. (translate and check out this JP Wiki on it sometime, there's a lot of info). The character leveling and skills to pick (along with leveling skills) give players even more to do this time around.
But there are some things I miss from the original. Like how characters had their own quotes at the start and end of a mission (with the end quote changing depending on the rank). And how every character had their own unique melee attacks instead of the same standing and down attacks being shared between a few of them. A few examples: Jill's spin kick was good for knocking down groups, Jessica's axe kick was good for striking weak points on single enemies, Quint's melee wasn't even physical; he sets a small bomb and runs from the grenade-sized explosion. That gif of Excella's melee attack from RE5 Mercenaries is the kind of stuff I'm talking about.
Things like that added more personality to REv1's Raid Mode, made it feel like it's own thing. Not that I don't enjoy using a Gomen Ne to kill enemies with Gina this time around. Can't wait to see what else they do with REv2's Raid Mode, events or otherwise. Maybe some more characters, weapons, stages, and skills to play with?
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a really good package overall. I had enough faith to put $25 for a pre-order and after the rocky launch with issues of choppy framerate and gameplay on PC and other platforms, things are getting fixed improved. There's still more issues to iron out, but the game is looking like more of a viable purchase now. You done good, Capcom
Are you fucking kidding me Crapcom with this The Struggle bullshit on a timer and rations and all, with that painful stealth section near the end...it doesnt even start you there if you dont kill enough little rabbits for rations...lmao,fuck this shit...I hope Natalia little extra mission is better.
The only stealth worse than RE2, in recent memory, is The Evil Within.
Honestly... the stealth in this game is kind of a blemish on an otherwise good experience. Like The Evil Within, however, places where the stealth is forced are pretty bad. This makes Little Miss almost entirely shitty (at least what I played). Slightly related note: I don;t enjoy timers as a gamplay mechanic in campaigns, and I think RE2 played that card a little too often. Really soured me on Claire's Ep4 honestly.
Time is fine in mercs... but it's annoying in the struggle, and really annoying in the campaign. At least, overused in the campaign.

Yeah both stealth ideas are very weak in both games. I understand why that should be something in horror games but it needs to be handled far better in the future. It always just felt off.

Don't tell me its more of the same for Natalia? ...and do I have 10 minutes to do it otherwise its game over...? why even have a timer at all,Moira's mission might be tolerable if you could take whatever time you want...now I have to start over...that section in the sewers was a pain to get through I dont feel like doing this again, only to fail in that stealth part again...make me start at the third part at least...I dont get this ration nonsense.
It wasn't really forced in the main campaign... unless you were going for medals. But you could see from the way they set up the scenarios, it's what they were encouraging in a lot of places.
Like I said it was "kind of a blemish". The extra campaigns, yes it is forced. Unfortunately. Because it's pretty shitty. They don't do anything interesting with it. By even early stealth game standards, it's quite basic/blah.
But at least it wasn't as bad as The Evil Within stealth. Well actually it's pretty much exactly the same, but TEW had janky camera and character control, so it was more annoying there. The player control in RE2 is so much better, so that really helps.
