I know it isn't directed at me, I have read this entire thread and seen it ebb and flow, with a bit of amusement and schadenfreud that internet forums offer. I have been following the other threads on this game on this site as lurker. I'm not going to get into tech discussion as I am still wowed by what was pulled off in Super Metroid on the SNES, because game play is what bears fruit in my fun factor. Single player alone will deliver this, I am jazzed about the huge online coop and how they plan to implement objective based battles, but it was the secondary coop story mode with classes that sent my hype into plaid.
Insomniac delivers more than expected everytime I have bought one of their games, I put them in my collective affinity of loved developers like Konami, Capcom, Bungie, Naughty Dog, Treasure, and others (Bullfrog R.I.P.). I admit I have a stupid love, really irrational hunger for all things sci-fi. B-grade to multi-million dollar blockbuster stories manifested into any media, noir or cyberpunk. I eat it up, especially alternate histories.
The story weaved in the Resistance world is very compelling and enough to keep me frothing for the release date, I won't even go on how much sleep I lost on the ARG regarding Project Abraham (followed it on three sites and still go back and review it), but it is stuff like that and developers like Bungie that put their games out as something more. If you follow the story arcs, you would be hard pressed not to get lost in hype. Thankfully these companies deliver, so it isn't unwarranted hype.
Sorry about the above ramble, I am no fanboy of any particular system, game or developer, outside of appreciating those who have given us great times in our hobby.
