Damn heroes and their helmets. Either their to cool to wear them or to wimpy to take them off.

As far as the screens I think they look pretty on par with what is "average/ slightly above average" as far as next gen goes. Hopefully since all they are doing now is basically working on the graphics it will move solidly into the above average range.

Yeah, that looks crappy. I think some of the textures look great upclose in Resistance, though. They must be using detail textures for some objects but not for others.
Even the 2556x1440 screenshots aren't native resolution. The ones on flickr also have lots of compression artifacts and are oddly fuzzy.Nozi said:Yeah I'd like to see the high res shots.. anyone want to imageshack them or something?

These screens were taken before a lot of the recent polishing has gone into the game.
In another thread I said lighting has been going in. This is one of the last things to go into some of these levels. This lighting is essentially another coating of polish that really just gives some areas a completely different feel. Some seem to be taking that comment a bit out of context (NeoGAF etc.). The overall point is that we're in the polishing phase now, and the game is continuing to look better and better and some levels have made huge jumps over the past month.

ask him if they will be adding motion blur or and filters in the final game

come on Insomniac! ... show them already!
Doom_Bringer said:Seriously go play these games:
F.E.A.R.
Lost Planet
PGR3
Hitman Blood Money
And come back here! I am telling you right now that you'd want all those things (sparks, blur, ppe etc) in all next gen games. I mean these effects define next generation! They should be in all games

I've played three of those four and I don't agree. And it's not like any of those features (or even more than one in combination) is somehow exclusive to next-gen. I don't think running down a checklist of technical features to include is any kind of way to make a quality game, for any generation of hardware.Doom_Bringer said:Seriously go play these games:

Bigboss = you are talking like a newbie. sparks, motion blur, and ppe haven't not been overused at all! The only thing that has been overused is normal mapping

Doom_Bringer said:motion blur makes any game look very good! Just look at Crysis
teiresias said:and SPARKS . . . DON'T FORGET THE SPARKS!!!!
Doom_Bringer said:Its not about quality its about graphics. I mean are you really saying that Resistance wouldn't benefit from F.E.AR. particle effect system? I mean there were only a handful of games last gen that did sparks properly (Burnout, Ootogi 2 and ZOE2). IMO a better particle system would add finesse to the gun fights.
Things like motion blur and PPEs would only improve graphics fidelity and make the games next gen
Doom_Bringer said:yes sparks are very important in FPS games

Have you played BF1942?? The game has a pathetic particle effect system! Maybe I should take some pics and upload em here
