Seems he was right. Could be coincidence. :lol
But sheep-sheep, they've been saying Resistance having a ton of audio and can only fit on a Blu-Ray for quite some time.

Your point seems to be a bit moot to me. They could have designed 2 demos yes, and the downloadable version would have consumed less space, but the retail product would still have to rely on redundancy.Skilotonn said:That's what I'm saying, since there would be no other reason for it to be bigger than a PC demo if it weren't disc-based... oh well... the size doesn't matter much anyways...

Schneider offered some distinguishing stats. Thanks to high-res graphics and orchestral music, the game, he said, currently takes up 22 Gigabytes of memory on a Blu-Ray disc

jjasper said:But Oblivion fit on one DVD so that is all we will ever need, so Blu ray is pointless.

Skilotonn said:I thought we were only comparing the demos? I know that it wouldn't have been the same case for the final version, since it would be on a disc... I was just thinking of a reason why a PC demo which had to be made for multiple DVD's would be bigger than a console demo that was being downloaded directly to an HDD...
:lol Yeah everytime someone mentions Blu ray and its advantages a certain group of people list the game as 100% proof that Blu ray is not needed and will never be needed.Mononofu said:Are you Joking?

You're probably right, just something like Halo 2.Wollan said:I think it's something similar(or equal) to the Halo 2 system and I know it ranks players to equal levels. If it ties in with XP or something like that I don't know.
Drek said:22GB games is a damn good way to limit piracy. Even if people crack the system to run pirated code as well as find a way to rip and burn the media wide internet distribution would be near impossible at any significant amount.
Well played Sony, well played.

If that means they're using a party sytem like Halo 2, then WOW. Resistance seems to be the torch bearer for PS3 this winter, and I think we're shaping up to see lots of "Gears of War vs Resistance" threads.
I know DVD might not be enough space for next gen games, but you really have to wonder what exactly requires 22 GB. Surely you guys aren't making some sort of more GB=more awesome game correlation here?

:lol To be clear then, it wasn't meant as a diss to either game, just simply a way of deciphering what the feature was.LiveFromKyoto said:You guys shouldn't compare this game to Halo. People attack you for that in these parts. Ravenous hungry people, with dead eyes.

The Insomniac rep specifically attributed it to both "high-res graphics" and "orchestral music". They've talked about putting normal maps on just about everything in PSM coverage and then of course you've got high-res textures and whatever other layered texture effects they might be employing. There's the potential for there to a decent amount of variety in the level design due to mixing various human architectures (where the UK is also a mix of both centuries old and modern architecture) with the Chimeran stuff. 22GB out of the gate is still rather surprising - I wonder if that's a number that reflects anticipated redundancy on disk or is pure asset.squicken said:I know DVD might not be enough space for next gen games, but you really have to wonder what exactly requires 22 GB.
By using the PSP as a LocationFree device for the PS3, one could play offline coop remotely, so they game would basically be online. When you got attacked by one of those things that jumps on you, you could shake it off by throwing the PSP against the wall. Visceral!teiresias said:PS3 is powerful enough that you can play online while offline - BELIEVE!!!!
