Err no.artful_dodger said:Top picture : Lighting broken

This isn't a technology leap, its a bug fix.
I believe ALL released/known shots are old build, I wouldnt assume anything doom_bringer.Doom_Bringer said:We haven't. The pics in the PSM were from an old build (like early July or late June)
Yoboman said:Okay, so what makes you so sure that these images has the supposed upgrades? From what Insomniac said, it's only a recent addition.

I agree it looks upgraded, just the dates we can presume these builds are from don't fit.Doom_Bringer said:I was only guessing

"Over the E3 demo? Hah! I'm incredibly impressed with how much the graphics have improved in the past two weeks. I almost didn't recognize a couple of levels now that the lighting has gone in."
I'm probably reading too much into it, but the way he worded that it sounds like the whole lighting system they had going was placeholder.
Wollan said:I think you will be disappointed thinking the models will look exactly like that. Sure it's ingame models and textures but I doubt you will see them in that perfect lighting, shine..etc. I doubt the look of the game will greatly change before release. (Meaning, if you don't like how it looks now you're out of luck)
but there will be scenes and times when directional lighting will play a part, and make the scene look more like those ingame model renders. which is also what dodger said. but your're right, the shots to date have more ambient lighting.Kittonwy said:Actually that's what dodger said, these are the in-game models according to him, it's just that the directional lighting shows the details in the textures better but the in-game shots have more ambient lighting.
Yeah, I think the lighting choice here works wonders for the models, it's a shame it doesn't look more like that ingame.Kittonwy said:Actually that's what dodger said, these are the in-game models according to him, it's just that the directional lighting shows the details in the textures better but some of the in-game shots have more ambient lighting, but the game will use both types of lighting.

Yes, though most of the journalists will have to wait a bit before writing about the event.
Though the very soon was in regards to something else that you may see before the press event. We'll see, I thought it was going to be sooner, but you never can tell sometimes.

Mmmkay said:There are quite a few of them. They look to be part of the full site when it opens. If you decompile the main flash file, it has lots of code to indicate some kind of interactive timeline which is supposed to be on the page. They've disabled it all in the code though, and you can only access the files directly, as opposed to running them interactively as they're supposed to be.
This array lists the flash files currently accessible:
var nodeNamesArray = new Array("1908_sept.swf", "1914_aug.swf", "1917_march.swf", "1917_oct.swf");
There's another array with a lot more dates though, but no content to go with them:
var datesArray = new Array("1908", "1914", "1917", "1917", "1918", "1919", "1919", "1919", "1920", "1921", "1921", "1921", "1922", "1922", "1923", "1926", "1927", "1928", "1929", "1930", "1930", "1933", "1935", "1936", "1936", "1936", "1937", "1937", "1938", "1938");

Rice-Eater said:Jeremy Dunham(IGN Editor) just said that the news will be embargoed until September. I think this means that we may not get a preview and media until at least Friday. This falls in line with what the Insomniac guys have said, which was
"Yes, though most of the journalists will have to wait a bit before writing about the event. "
So I guess Tuesdayaton, will be on hold until Fridayaton or whenever the gaming press is allowed to release info on it.
Though the very soon was in regards to something else that you may see before the press event. We'll see, I thought it was going to be sooner, but you never can tell sometimes.

Huh? The website is just poorly made that's all. There's no actual ARG progression you could make with those swf files, they really shouldn't be accessible.squicken said:Welcome to next gen viral marketing PS3 friends. Enjoy the awesomeness.
Or... Like we've all been telling you, the meteor hosted an alien parasite. Those parasites then went on to take human and animal hosts and breed an army.Doom_Bringer said:I kept saying over and over that the enemies in this game are of alien origin and the invasion begins with the Tunguska incident (where a meteoroid exploded over Tunguska but here it has been replaced by probably a UFO)

jjasper said:I think you are currently looking at the "something else"
jstevenson said:But you won't be without information next week. There will be some stories and stuff.
There are two things happening next week. One is a media event on Tuesday, which will be embargoed until some time in September. The other is what James Stevenson started this whole thing off with when he mentioned something happening very soon, and it's separate to the Tuesday event. It's likely an exclusive story with one of the major online websites, or probably a feature in a magazine which will filter out onto the net as its print only embargo passes.momolicious said:what? so since theres embargo we wont see anythign new?
The only difference is that it's yellow now. No enhanced lighting, at least in that shot.Doom_Bringer said:Are they going to change the HUD? The e3 demo HUD was pretty lame IMO. I hope they release a new trailer too!
I doubt its full dynamic lighting and shadowing. They probably changed the sky box and added HDR lghting
This is what the insomniac dev meant by enhanded lighting

Then again, inengine should be the standard this genration imo.
Who to believe? =\Kittonwy said:I read (well PSM isn't really "reading" per se but that's beside the point) from PSM that the cinematics run on the in-game engine and the black-and-white photos turn into cutscenes which go into gameplay.
