Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
How is this game? I bought Star Ocean but the story and voice acting were too crappy for me to like it.

Is the story solid? The only thing that bugs me about this game is the art style seems so next gen brown. Are the environments colorful at all?

The story is not bad at face value, but just told through the most absolutely nonsensical, incoherent fashion.

The main draw storyline wise concerns the characters themselves, which are very interesting. well voiced, and have backgrounds that are not explicitly told through mounds of typical JRPG over-exposition, but still leave room for the players to figure out things for themselves. This is so even despite how tri-Ace incompetently tells the man plot.

Oh Gawd, the cutscenes of Chapter 4. Just when I thought shit couldn't get more hilarious and real, it DID. The Heroic Trio are confronted with Garagliano's statue of Leanne and the first thing Vash wonders is what is under the statue's skirt. Vashyron is truly God-tier.

It's all about glasses for Leanne.

I was so happy when I realized they were so accessible. Hnnng.

I've never really been into meganekko, but I'm looking forward to putting some nekomimi on Leanne's head.

Putting the Matrix glasses on Zephyr made him instantly a hundred times cooler than he was before, however. I would put the Matrix glasses on all three of them if I could just BUY them, but I can't. The shop only sells Matrix glasses for Zephyr.

Zephyr gets the coolest shirts, too. It's funny when I'm floating high above some trash mob pumping it full of lead and Zephyr flips over and I see the chibi Heroic Trio on the front of his shirt in slow-mo as I'm slaughtering my helpless enemies.

Leanne: "Do you want me on offense or defense?"
Vash: "Leanne goes both ways. That's good to know."
Zephyr: "Save it, willya?"

Haha, the Japanese one is a little different.

Vash "Ohh you like offense, don't you? I can tell!"
Zephyr "What? What does that mean?"

Heh, Zephyr is more of a naive boy in the Japanese version it seems.

I'm in Ch 5 now, enjoying the game very much, not hitting too much obstacles.

The only thing I would change is to be able to pick which enemies to shoot beforehand when you're doing the I.S. attacks. It's really annoying when you're furiously hitting the D-pad and you end up choosing the wrong enemies to shoot >:-/

I put glasses on everyone. She just looks odd without them, oh Zephyr too, but I made his hair silver and now it feels strange to change it. I wish I had more colors for Leanne.

Its kind of fun to change their outfits. It makes me feel like Im playing the Sims, I could spend hours on just the characters.

I'm at Ch. 7 right now. Please tell me I get this shirt soon.

Loved this game when it came out and got to chapter 4, but had to put it down.

Now I'm afraid I've forgotten everything. Including the semi-complicated battle system.

Gonna be a bitch to get back into it...

It's retarded you can't heal the stupid statue in Chapter 4. Good thing the dungeon is short so I can retry the whole dungeon and try to block the statue and take damage for it. Which is still stupid.

I was trying to throw healing items at it too! I finished the dungeon with just a sliver of health left on it.

Rushing also works. I like how sometiems the enemies won't shoot at the statue

Got past that dungeon in Chapter 4 and started Chapter 5. I have finally witnessed the glory of THE CUTSCENE. It was so good that I reloaded my save and watched it again. I don't even know how Nolan North was able to do those lines with a straight face. Then I reloaded the save again and switched languages to Japanese so I could hear the JP voice actor say Magunum for the lulz. The JP voice actor was hilarious too. It may actually be the greatest cutscene in the history of videogame cinematics.

Did anyone really spend the time farming turquiose straight hexes to connect the double effect terminal to the arena (in addition to the 1.5 item drop rate and the 1.5 exp rate?!). I dont think I have it in me to farm for more to connect that one, the 220 requirement is so steep.

I didn't farm per se, it's just the enemies carrying them were quite common.

With that said, it WILL be one hell of a farming if you want to bring that color towards Neverland.

Wow what am I even doing with my life, I just hit 90 hours on just chapter 8 still in the arena, this game is so addicting. The arena rank 3 bosses are such a joke at times, lol, one tri attack to win it (30-3). I hope they get more challenging.

So now that I have two MG's, should I be using two MG's and one HG, or stick with one MG and two HG's? It SEEMS like it'd be a better idea to have two machinegunners.

I usually had (if they werent dual wielding), one MG and two HG since they are vital for breaking gauges. However I went to dual wield two HGs, so one could be a dedicated grenade person just to get them to level up and bear more weight.

---

Two machineguns is vital for me for all enemies thus far (well except for some blob). Modify them to have high acceleration and charge speed to get the high attack power and the Full Scratch 100%!!! (and two EXP Trainers). My Zephyr with the dual MG's is pretty epic thus far.

I barely managed to do this during my playthrough(s) of the game ._.

For some reason, I think I like her animation when she is just wielding one weapon instead of two. On the ground, she is just spinning around the whole time, while in the one handed mode she seems to look more intense and serious with firing.

Over 40 hours in, on Chapter 12. I honestly can't believe I'm enjoying a modern JRPG this much (Demon's Souls and Monster Hunter don't count as JRPG's, dammit). The way the story is handled is great, I love the episodic feel to it. The battle system is just FUN. And the characters are all great (especially Vashyron, Nolan North <3). So yeah. I haven't enjoyed a JRPG this much in...man, nearly 10 years maybe?

Also, dual SMG's = EASY MODO. :D

If the information helps, I grinded through most of the arena with 1.5x terminal EXP gain + EXP rings on all my characters. By the time I had gold starred all 50 ranks all my characters were between level 180-210. The bonus dungeon and bosses were an absolute breeze. I would recommend not grinding the 220 turquoises unless you really want to hit level 300 for some reason.

To add to the conversation about the game, I loved it all the way through. The gameplay was addictive and fast, the world was interesting, the story was told in a great minimalistic fashion, and the characters were really likeable. I feel awful that I bought FF XIII the day this came out and waited so long on this instead of skipping on that garbage. The two endings (counting the small scene after the secret boss) leave the game open for a sequel, and I really look forward to hearing what's next in the series.

I just got this game again on the PS3, after playing it on the 360 when it first came out. I remember how hard it was, and got stuck on the escort painting mission. Any tips I should watch out for?

This game is still $60 dollars too. I plan on beating it this time, lol.

I dont have EXP rings on all of them yet but I did put the 1.5x on it, and two EXP rings on Zephyr (dual wielding MG) and one on my HG character. Gonna do ranks up to 40 today (35 all starred) at chapter 9. Any minimal level for getting through Neverland, or would I need to grind by that time...(if Im at around 67-77 now)

Ok do I suck or is the first boss impossible?
I'm level 7 with all my characters and I can't beat this boss.......

What tactics are you using right now? Are you building up scratch damage with the SMG? It's been a long time since I played Resonance of Fate. The first boss is some kind of spider-like robot, right?

Your level should be fine. Have you tried doing a Tri attack? Maybe your running out of Hero points. Well I assume Zephyr is your machine gun dude, so at first just attack with him and do as much scratch damage as you can and then only when you feel you can take off a body part attack with of the others to make sure you keep getting Hero points back.

I think theres some environmental thing you can destroy when the boss is near. If so try that, but maybe not use up a hero point. And just play around with the environment. The boss may not hit you if you are in cover. Probably pretty obvious to you, but just making sure.

But yeah I don't know what else to say. If you want to grind go ahead, but switch up the weapons between characters if you do.

used a lot of scratch damage on it, and now it worked.
Don't know why I couldn't beat him yesterday :)

Throwing the Christmas presents in the Christmas chapter was pretty fun and I loved the comments by the kids. I feel as if I am over leveled for everything now. Zephry is at 98, Vashyron 71, and Leanne at 86. Bosses fall so easily (especially with the Full Scratch Damage at 25% now I think).

Chapter 4, something like 15 hours in and the game is definitely fun, but I happened to get into a random battle with a glowing red hex and it was a boss like level 55 or something, which of course smacked me, is this common throughout the game? I think I'm only like level 10, 9, and 7 (girls levels up slow :( )

Also, when do I start getting newer weapons? I wanted to try dual wielding (especially SMG's) and get a pistol for the kid with the SMG (he's useless after he uses the SMG for scratch dmg)

This game is getting annoyingly hard. I'm at the Chapter V boss, the Yeti thing. I can hardly scratch him hardly. I thought the Walkers was bad, but eventually found a way to kill those. My guys are around 20, I have been customizing my guns, or think I am. Dunno if I'm doing it right or not. I did get that handgun for 100000 rubies, seems to help, but still not much. I have to much weight to dual wield on any person.

The red hexes usually lead to more bezels. The ones they present in each chapter could actual be defeated. I believe I defeated them in each case, but I also completed every available battle int he arena before tackling them.

In order to quickly get my characters weights up, I just went to the arena and focused on getting them to get more experience with the grenades since I usually never used any before, which helped me to get them to dual wield. I also customized to quickly increase the MG to have more bullets and higher charge speed and acceleration.

Molotov Cocktails + Incendiary Rounds will make short work of the Yeti.

Really, the game gets a lot easier once you start exploiting elemental weaknesses.

Wow connecting the 1.5x EXP Gain and then that terminal to double the effects to the arena (and two EXP trainers on two of the characters) was well worth it! In just literally 3 or so hours, all my characters went from the upper 70's to now in the 120's (Zephyr at 152). MG levels so fast on the rank 42 or 43 in the arena. Hopefully this means I can blitz through chapter 14 fast! (139 hours on this first playthrough)

Getting into chapter 13 now, I've heard this is a difficulty spike? Will it matter that I'm around lv 150, with 100% scratch ability?

I am loving this game so far. It's not traditional, but its got me hooked!

100% scratch with 100% penetration are the real game killers. Just boost your charge speed to around 40% and charge acceleration to around 150-200 range (iirc) and you're all set to tackle even the extra dungeon.

Well, you're completely overpowered. Not sure if this matters to you in one way or another. :p

That was my next question, actually!
About charge speed and accel. Im at 27% and 150, so I have a ways to go yet.

I can get to around 86 charges in a hero run, so I need a little bit more to actually use 100% scratch, but it's rare to encounter a monster or boss that doesnt get fully scratched from one hero run hehe.
