Have you answered what your job is, I haven't been following the thread. Also, have you seen Royal Pains? Do you know the people that own the house where the show takes place? That's the Hamptons right?

Not going to reveal where I work lol. Never seen Royal Pains so I have no clue.

Still curious about how much your parents make a year and your yearly budget/allowance your anonymous after all.

if you were really poor you'd know what having peanut butter and bread every meal was like
I was at my friends house when I was a kid and he made me a peanut butter and garlic sandwich. I asked why the fuck did you put garlic on it and he said, "when you eat peanut butter sandwiches everyday sometimes you need to add spice to give it flavor"...

I reiterate being poor sucks! Can't wait until I graduate and am making six figures!

I don't have a problem with people accumulating wealth, nor the children of the wealthy enjoying the benefits of said-wealth. What does irritate me beyond belief is the showing off of wealth as to illicit the jealousy of the non-privileged. The vast majority of the world does not have it as easy as you: keep your blessings to yourself so as to not make those less fortunate than you feel inadequate in their own lives.

but is it a real job that required a lot of skill and experience to obtain it or... is it the kind where someone you know pulls some strings and you end up sitting in your big office not doing much while still earning some mad dough?

I wish one of these dudes would skip one of their bar nights and pay my measley 65k in student loan debt. Would be a win/win. Makes them look nice. And frees up $750 a month for me.

Remainds me of this old cartoon "beverly Hills Teens":

The best thing about being rich is being able to not have to worry about not affording Hospital bills if something goes wrong.

And going on vacation and not worrying about taking any days off from work.

I'm going to start and play the lottery, who am i kidding even that is rigged against me.

Jesus! I really should stop coming to this thread.

Pretty much this, but I have had my share of closing some decent sized deals though.

Yeah, this is probably the worst aspect of rich people posting pictures and tweets. Never mind the wealth itself, just the attitude. It's as if they want to be hated by...everybody.

But that receipt is fake though. It has been on the internet for a loong time.

Are you sure that it's a fake? Because there's a comment (from Laurent) on a french website that confirms this, see for yourself (french): http://critikparis.unblog.fr/2012/05/31/addition-salee-du-nikki-beach-st-tropez-un-fake/

Honestly, 10€ for a coke it's not surprising in this kind of place. If people are willing to pay, it doesn't bother me at all, their loss (or their parent's lol).

It's the hashtags and captions that irritate me. I don't begrudge the wealthy their lifestyle or belongings. Indeed, many of the items they seem so proud of I find tacky and flashy and wouldn't buy even if I did have the money. It's also weird to see something like cell phones be such a common denominator amongst all classes. I might have a Timex as opposed to a Rolex (I don't even wear a watch, actually), but my iPhone is the same as these privileged scions.

I wonder if some of these people suffer from a lack of sense of purpose. I'm talking about myself here, but if I spent a good chunk of my life doing nothing but spending it on crap and partying, I would feel like a bit of a loser since I'm not contributing to society whatsoever. I'd be just a leech who got all his money from mommy and daddy.

This just makes me sad. People say money doesn't make you happy but taking off the stress of finance away sure as hell would....plus lots of cool shit. :(
Don't worry supposedly the riches going to trickle down to us sometime soon.

Sometimes, yes.

LOL, all that money. Man, I'm glad I'm leading a tiny life with 8 dollars in my bank account. Why? Because I don't have a CARE in the world about anything. Bills are getting paid fine, I'm eating fine. I don't NEED anything besides a bed, a roof and my sweet husband.

If I had boat loads of money, I'd buy an underwater encased house and just disappear from the world. That's just it. Seriously, no partying, no drugs, no stupid amount of friends or losers from the family to bother you, no bills, just nothing.

Just you, a library of books, movies, and games, the water, the sun, and fishing.

Sometimes I like to dream more than being awake. I'd invent, write, or paint on my own time.

I'm enraptured. >_>

I swear I would be a boring rich person. I know people tend to say that but I mean it.

I'd get a decent house and car but I speculate I would spend most of the time traveling and donating to charities.

I think that's ultimately the biggest indictment of the gilded class. Given their huge advantages - best education, access to capital, political clout, freedom to take risks, etc. - those born into wealth don't punch anywhere near their weight in terms of social utility. In contrast, we have tons of evidence that a thriving middle class is a huge benefit to society.
