Don't you mean Robert Zemeckis?Nonono. Richard Donner is the guy with the super-hardon for super-creepy "performance capture" CG, like in The Polar Express. Do not want.

I'm reminded of this:
It was in my video store when I was very young, and I fell into the (clearly intended) trap of thinking it was a sequel to The Goonies. It's actually an Australian film called "Frog Dreaming" - or in the US it was "The Quest" - rebranded to try to ride on the Goonies' coattails.
hopefully idris elba plays chunk.
There are some movies that shouldn't have filmed sequels. The Goonies is one such film.

Will it be based on the NES game?

but is it good? the cover looks badass!
As much as I love The Goonies, I can NOT see this being any good. Like at all and that makes me sad. Very much the same feeling as a Ghostbusters and Gremlins reboot/sequels.
I think part of the charm was the 80s feel of those movies.
I'm really worried about Ghostbusters (unless the 21 Jump Street guys get it as rumored, then I'm 10,000% behind it) but I would really like to see a modern Gremlins film. Reboot, remake, sequel, I don't care. I understand totally the charm of the old movies, but I want to see CG Gremlins crawling all over shit moving in ways the puppets and animatronics never could, being really creepy little fuckers and wreaking havoc.

NC-17I dont see how a Goonies movie would work with adult actors. Maybe they pass the Goonies to their kids?

Makes sense to have one of them unhappy with his life, stumble on an ancient map and then get the gang back together. Goonies for life and all that.
Is this going to be the one where they rescue the mermaid?

One more step on Hollywood's purpose to destroy every single good movie they made. What a fucking shame.

I'm losing my shit over here
I somehow completely avoided this movie growing up. And I'm a Konami-loving wierdo who owns Goonies on Famicom and Goonies 2 on NES
Is this worth watching as an adult with no childhood nostalgia for it?
Do you have a high tolerance for kids talking/yelling over each other? Then sure.Is this worth watching as an adult with no childhood nostalgia for it?

If the movie has all the same actors and a hard R rating - maybe.
