RIP Tom Petty, dead at 66 after cardiac arrest. TMZ and CBS reporting.

Way waaaaaay too young. Again rest in peace. When these kind of reports appear I always start to wonder who's next and that's sad. There are several artists left that are of a certain age. But at this once again shows, age really doesn't mean all that much at all. My own father was proof of that for me.

So sad :(

This just makes listening to Traveling Wilbury's album that much harder. Such a legend. Will miss him!

Just listening to Wildflowers again this morning, it's really an amazing front to back album. Echo is also really good albeit not as revered. The title track is one of my all time favorites of his.

For being a "southern rocker", Petty nailed melancholic and heartbreak like almost no other. Just thinking about that one gets me misty-eyed.

Fuck, I'm trying to watch the Brilliant documentary Runnin Down a Dream on Netflix ( seen it twice or 3 times before) its one of my favourite documentaries, but its hard, I had to stop after a hour :(

If you haven't seen it i suggest you give it a watch but i will warn you it is 4 hours long, yes four, not a typo.

The constants in the car if my dad was driving when I was a kid always seemed to be Tom Petty, Eric Clapton and The Eagles. Lots of memories in the early 90s of Tom Petty, especially the videos.

He'll be missed.

I was never a big fan of his music but always found him vaguely interesting due to his sharp and real lyrics so I ended up watching the "Runnin Down A Dream" documentary just a few months ago. It basically turned me into a bit of a fan and now he dies. Shit...

RIP Tom, a truly interesting, unique and cool guy.

Still bummed out about this. This is legit the first "celebrity" death that has ever really hit me. I was born in 86' and as far back as I can remember I loved all his music, my older brother was a big fan so subsequently I became a big fan. So many good songs that actually have meaning behind them. Can't listen to the Wildflowers album without getting choked up. I can say that for a lot of his songs.

As others have said, if you haven't seen the documentary Runnin' Down a Dream, it's on Netflix and it is a great watch if you are a big fan, or just a fan of music in general. Documents them from before their inception and the way through to 2006 I believe.

3 out of the 5 Wilburys are gone :(
