Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

I would love to get it digitally on Xbox One but only if I can get the legacy adapter day one. It being available only the disc bundle makes that moot.
Same here, except that I also have wired RB1 drums (with Goodwood Mods drum heads) so I'd like for a way to use those as well.

My Mad Catz Replica Strat (the full size one) and Logitech Premium GH guitar (assuming is works with the legacy adapter) would be fine to use as they are presumably both much better than the wireless RB4 guiatar.

The majority of my previous RB time was spend on guitar, so I could probably get by with no drums for a while, but now my kids are old enough to play with me and they will almost assuredly want to play drums.

so the PSN digital download of the game came with 10 songs. Is it safe to assume the XBone digital download pre-order bonus will also be 10 songs? Actually, is it safe to assume the XBone version will even get a pre-order bonus like the PSN version? I'm wondering if those new 12 songs will all be DLC on launch day. Being an XBone gamer, I, of course, hope they are in fact pre-order bonus songs.

Have they said anything about selling it on its own? It sucks that you have to either get the game + new instrument(s) or game + legacy adapter. Unless you want to get two copies of the game for some reason.

When the digital pre-order page was up, it said 12 songs.

Didn't take a picture, but stopped at my local Target on my lunch break and they've already built out a home for the full band kits along with the Guitar Hero stuff.

Got super lucky and EA Support gave me a working RB3 Export code. Hopefully it won't be too long before they get it all working for RB4 and I will be ready to rock! Ahem.

I didnt realize RB3 came with one! Do we know at all how this feature will work?

I am assuming like the previous ones. You had a code on the back of the games manual and within the games menu you entered the code. I think you had to have a working code on RB2 to use in Rb3 and then you could buy an export code (Well, this is what I have just done anyway)

Would be nice if they just checked the GT and let you export.

How does DLC work with PS4 system accounts from different territories? Will I be able to use all of my UK DLC if I buy the game from the US PSN?

What? You mean like they gave you a RB3 manual code?

Yes. I think it depends on who you get and how you talk to them :D

They gave me a working code which I redeemed and then you have to buy the export code for 6.75 (UK)

It means everything is ready for when they talk about the export stuff.

>table flip<

Could've been worse.

There is no such thing as an export code for Rock Band 3 (that code on the RB3 manual has no purpose at the moment. It's just there). There is one for Rock Band 2 that you can use in Rock Band 3. That might be why people are confused.

So, here in Canada, EB Games has the 30 track pre-order bonus, and PSN has the same pre-order bonus as in the US. But sadly missing is the 4 track US Amazon pre-order exclusive 4-pack with the DFA1979 and Alabama Shakes track.

What gives

Yes, I should have corrected myself. I got a bit confused since I am in RB3 and buying the export key. :D

Sorry all!

There is a code on the back of the RB3 manual, so I assume that will come into play for RB4?

Do USB hubs work with PS4? PS4 has only two USB ports, but I need four (1 drum, 1 microphone, and 2 guitars).

I used this when I was playing FFXIV.....had my headset, controller, mouse, and keyboard all plugged in and none of the devices disconnected or anything

edit vvvvvv yes a non powered one will disconnect devices drawing to much total amperage from the port. I've had it happen lol

It still blows me away that there is no bonus DLC for preordering the standalone disc on Amazon.
Yeah, I'm very disappointed in that. There doesn't seem to be the bonus DLC for the standalone anywhere...maybe Gamestop has it?

If I have to use my Gamestop credit to buy the guitar version, I suppose I might. But I would much rather try without getting new hardware.

Either that or I need to get out and test the new hardware somehow before I buy. Are there any plans of having the hardware at Costco? I would love to get it with their implicit warranty.

wait whats this bonus DLC, I missed this. I just know the 4 song amazon pack, and the 30 song preorder. Is there a digital preorder pack as well or something?

I have no interest in buying new instruments, so I'll just have to deal with the lack of bonus DLC and buy whatever interests me.

Seriously, if RB4 wasn't backward compatible with previous instruments, I wouldn't be buying the game. I don't need more plastic toys than I already have.

Dang, you got me all excited thinking they had actually fleshed out and got a RB3 export working! Bah!

This preorder songs nonesense confuses the shit out of me.

I'm in Germany, I will buy either the German or UK version of RB4. Preferable the digital version as I need no new hardware and want to have it ready to go w/o putting in the disc first.

What do I have to do to get
- preorder songs (30?)
- PS+ preorder songs (10?)
- Gimme Chocolate (XB1 preorder exclusive?)
???
I don't see any mention of this on the local amazon pages (instruments bundle or standalone) and it seems there's no preorder of RB4 in the EU Playstation Store...

With the weak setlist it feels like I'm buying only half the game if I don't get this done somehow. It's so close to release wth :(

I'm with you.

If the Xbox One did not need that Wireless adaptor thing, I would just be buying solus. The fact I have to choose between all new kit or somehow find a wireless drumset and get the adaptor pack. Not sure why the PS4 version does not need it.

probably because you can write drivers into games on PS4 (see skullgirls fightstick driver) whereas on xbox you need a hardware converter

That makes sense. Really annoying choice to make.

It still means I need to find another Wirless guitar to go with the Band In The Box version. I don't think the USB ones work right?

I have a cronus max.....I wonder if they could dupe the xbox one into thinking the xplorers a wireless controller....wouldn't be hard for them

I agree. It's a weak setlist, and some of the best songs are pre-order DLC. That's some bullshit.

But I hope they start explaining how it works because it is extremely confusing.

Xbox One and Xbox 360 use different wireless protocols. PS3 and PS4 both use bluetooth. Or did they use a wireless dongle on PS3? If so, they'll just use that again.

Pretty sure it's the latter explanation. (PS3 used wireless dongles which will work on the PS4. 360 did not.)

Wait, what? What version of the game do I have to pre-order to get this? I thought it was future DLC that got leaked and not bonuses.

Fucking confusing.

Yeah it's pretty annoying but the songs revealed today are the preorder bonus songs for Xbox One.

It's safe to assume they'll be available as DLC on PS4 but HMX hasn't said anything official yet. I preordered the digital version on PS4 for the bonus tracks but the Xbox bonus tracks are better :(

Do we know whether it's for the Digital or Retail version? I'm getting it boxed!

Yeah these songs are for the digital preorder. It's ridiculous. Sure hardcore fans are going to want the preorder songs, but they'd probably want new hardware too right? With standalone hardware coming sometime next year the only way to get the songs and a new guitar at launch is to get the guitar bundle with a physical copy and to preorder the digital copy.

I just got an awesome bonus at work so I went fully crazy and ordered the digital release, a guitar bundle and the band in a box bundle, so now I'll have all new instruments, but also two physical copies of the game to get rid of.

I don't think we actually know. Right now, the XBox's Store app shows Rock Band 4, but you can only purchase it as part of a 'Bundle' (the bundle itself has not been added). There's also a lengthy section of DLC tracks only available as part of a 'bundle'. So presumably, the bundle is the game + those tracks. But nothing has been officially announced. It appears they're a digital pre-order bonus, likely available for purchase in the future.
