Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

Some on the Harmonix forums are speculating that if there is a digital Xbone preorder, it's going up today. The Rock Band 4 store page was updated this morning.

It looks like there might be some bonus content attached because all the listings on the web store changed to "Bundle only" which happens when there are pre-order bundles. It was like that for some of the extra Forza content in some of the packages before the release date.

Isent the songs stored on MS`s azure servers or did i miss something?
Rock Band Central server on the other hand might fuck up if HMX still want that Locally at their HQ.

I imagine the RBC server will stay with HMX.

But even if they're on Azure, think of it like this. If they sell 20,000 copies on XBO day 1, and someone has 200 songs they're trying to re-download, that's a massive amount of download requests, not even counting anyone who wants to buy NEW songs.

For me to get everything I want for RB4 I need to do the following given my current budget:

Buy the Guitar+Game bundle via Amazon (+34songs) $129.99 USD
Buy Legacy Adapter $19.99 USD (hopefully)
Buy Pre Order DLC as available $11.94 USD (6 songs at $1.99 USD each)
Trade/sell physical copy for MS money and buy Digital (ideally break even)

This will get me a full band setup on digital with the maximum amount of songs I want for the least amount of money.

If I had all the money I'd just get the band in a box bundle and pre-order digitally.

I really wish that there weren't digital preorder exclusive songs, kinda sucks for everyone paying $200+ for the full bundle. Also almost all of the 30 preorder songs for the physical copy were exports anyway.

I asked Harmonix via twitter if an auto bass pedal kick cheat would be possible (my little brother is 7 and would have more fun skipping the pedal) and they said they'd pass it along.

Shit- I didn't think of that. If I go digital, I don't get the 30 free songs. That kinda changes everything. Need my Bang Camaro and Main Drag.

If you're going digital you can't buy a bundle at launch, so it's more than a fair tradeoff.

I kind of hate that the general strategy with new DLC (so far) seems to be whatever X band's latest single is. Looking forward to One Big Holiday and September though (Xbone definitely got the better preorder songs)

I'm just salty that I have to wait X amount of weeks for Cowboys From Hell and Babymetal. Unless they're available at launch for everybody, at which point forgive my saltiness.

The Babymetal song is super catchy and I'm not even a fan, I thought that stuff was a joke. But I gave it a listen and I like it a lot.

So what Rock Band 4 actually has is an 85-song setlist, except 26 of those songs are split up and divided between various pre-order platforms.

Rock Band 4's tracklist would be killer if they released the entire 85 for everyone. Instead they fuck it up and piss people off my segregating it between different pre-order locations.

I agree. It's some bullshit. I don't even know where I need to go for my songs.

Got any suggestions? I think Hardware Store would be awesome, especially for vocal.

I charted a version of this long, long ago (another guy redid the vocal chart to his taste, and I want to say this video is that chart or something closer to that chart).

It is rough around the edges but still pretty awesome and very, very challenging. There are a few neat ways to map the vocals on it. I'd love to see HMX's crack at it. :)

The store to buy them as DLC whenever they drop? :p

Gimme Chocolate is cool, but I want Megitsune.

!

A Babymetal connoisseur!

Megitsune is definitely the gentleman's choice, hoping we get that in the future.

I had written off getting Rockband with what I thought was an unreasonable "lol, I'll only get it if babymetal is in it," and now I'm in a tough spot.

Join us, Harmonix needs more whales to hunt. :p

Rock Band 3 didn't have 59 songs.

What is the demarcation point for an acceptable amount of on disc content?

Think about it like this - no matter which route you go, you're going to be given ~70 songs at launch if you go digital and even more if you go physical (even if some of it is RBN rehashes)

EDIT - and yes, this DLC shell game is a side effect of not having your costs mitigated with the backing of an AAA publisher. I'm most excited to have Rock Band on a current gen console with most of my DLC intact, that in itself is worth the price of admission but I know that's not true for everyone.

Rock Band 4 has 63 songs, and it also doesn't have a big publisher like EA behind it.

That's a miscount from me, but it doesn't have 63 songs. Sure, they may have that many on-disc, but if there are 26 pre-order tracks floating around, ready to be played day one, then what we actually have is an 89 track setlist that you can't even fully play. It doesn't help that on top of that the base game is stupidly expensive. 63 songs for £47? No. 89 songs for £47? Yeah that would be pretty cool.

Or you get just 63 because the physical bonus packs don't come with the solus game and there is no digital pre-order available in the UK for PS4.

I'm confused about this- I have most almost all of the physical pre-order bonuses as legacy content. Should I even care if i don't get anew?

Holy shit dude, that was amazing to see. The vocals seems insane, but really fun. I can see it being a hit at parties.

I understand where you're coming from, but I still feel like the only difference between RB4 and RB3's launch is that in one case (RB3) there was several weeks worth of DLC finished that were dripfed to us in the usual expected and anticipated fashion after the game's release, in RB4's case, they are showing their hand with regard to future plans ahead of time.

If a game is giving you 60 songs and the ability to import over 1000 more, that's a very good value. I'm essentially in the same position as you, I'm preordering the standalone physical game from Amazon, so no freebies for me. From the array of ~25 new DLC tracks, I'll probably buy 6 or 7 of them eventually.

I wonder if they've ever considered releasing upcoming DLC for both Rock Band 3 and Rock Band 4, or if that's too much testing load. I guess the 3 or 4 that came out this year for RB3 are the only new cross-RB3/RB4 DLC.

edit: if they ever do Hardware Store, I think for the sake of gameplay the entire coda would be charted as talkies.

Amazon does not seem to mention the track pack, unless I am missing it. Game.co.uk has a full listing of the 30 tracks.

Huh, another odd thing about amazon, it seems like mention of the 4 exclusive amazon bonus tracks has dissapeared from the UK site listing for the game and adaptor on XB1, weird.

Very odd.

I think I will end up going with Game since I have a few points saved up and the DLC seems to be listed correctly.

I'm confused too. I think i already have many of the preorder songs in rb3 because of the rb2 import. Our actually maybe because they were released in a free dlc pack? So won't i have those songs even without the preorder code?

Apparently, "Super-Sprode," "Shake," "Entangled," and "Megasus" are scheduled to be made available to purchase on October 2. Hopefully we get a good amount of other legacy DLC that day.

I would love to get it digitally on Xbox One but only if I can get the legacy adapter day one. It being available only via disc bundle makes that moot.

Oh, the GAME pre-order song is a bunch of stuff I already got, guess I'll stick with my amazon pre-order, hopefully the UK listing updates it's getting the same 4 bonus songs as the american pre-order.

As for future DLC, guess I'll get these 5...

My Own Eyes - Weird Al Yankovic
September - Earth Wind & Fire
Jane - Jefferson Starship
High Road - Mastodon
Gimme Chocolate - Babymetal (For the lulz!)
