Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

I know it's most likely been asked but didn't see a list on the first few pages and it's hard to search a billion post from a phone so i am incredibly sorry if it's been asked to death.

I know you can export songs from discs and bought and a complete list may or not exist if it does that would be awesome to have but my biggest question is can i buy these songs on their website store like playstions store site or xbox's site and still have them transfer since i no longer own a 360 or PS3. I already have a bunch of songs i bought from RB/RB2 on 360 so i will probably stick with the bone.

Yes, you can use the online marketplace to purchase songs from previous gen consoles.

So wireless OG rock band PS3 guitars will work on PS4, according to the compatibility chart. How does this work? Is the wireless tech the same?

Ps3 instruments have always used wireless dongles to communicate with the instruments. Simply plug and play.

There are things we hardcore Rock Band fans don't talk about, this is one of them.

The other is the Nickelback and Naked Brothers Band DLC

ahaha.. exactly. I'd be ashamed of what I spent total.. I don't even want to know myself.

They've been party nights where people went in the store and bought songs on my account --- yah they asked before buying it, but it's not like you're gonna say no when you're having fun!.

And then the credit card statement comes and you're like "damn!.... guess it's cheaper than going to a bar anyway".. lol!

Has there been any news on that standalone adapter yet? I want to get the digital version on Xbone. There's also no way currently to buy instruments separately correct? UK btw.

FYI, if anyone had the legacy adapter ordered on Amazon without Prime, and joined Prime today with the $67 Prime special, you can change the shipping in your order to the slowest speed, then go back to change it again and the $7.95 2-day charge will now be free.

2-day is required on all the bundles to get them release day, so this may be the same.

However, I'm wondering if they can ship the adapter out early since there's no street dated game included.

I don't think I have too many exported DLC now that I think about it. I had RB1 and 2 on my PS3. And RB3 was on my 360.

Obviously RB3 wasn't available for export so that only leaves RB Blitz. And with my 360 gone, I have no way to export anything even if I were to be able to pick up RB1 or RB2 again.

They had some great tracks too, really unfortunate.

Not sure about UK, but the standalone adapter went up on US Amazon earlier in the week. $25, though Microsoft offered a $15 off promo code. Unsure if its' still in stock.

Instruments are next year, apparently. So... That's annoying. Because I'm going to have a disc copy of RB4 I don't need - all my DLC is American, and I'm in the UK. (I'm guessing it won't work across worlds...)

I'm nervous about my legacy adapter order on Amazon not shipping in time for release day. Even though I got it while it was still in stock, my order status hasn't budged from:

"Not yet shipped
Delivery estimate: We need a little more time to provide you with a good estimate. We'll notify you via e-mail as soon as we have an estimated delivery date."

Anyone else in this situation?

Yes. That's nothing out of the ordinary for them though in terms of the order itself. It will update when they have more concrete stock information. It often says that for pre-orders or recently listed items where they still need more info from the manufacturer. Obviously it's dependent on them getting stock in time, though.

Sorry for asking a question that im sure has been asked before.

I've never owned a RB game before but want to get as much stuff exported from the old ones as possible in time for this one.

I know basically anything after RB2 is a lost cause so I'm ignoring that stuff alltogether.
Is there confirmation I can simply buy the export pack for Rock Band 1 (on PS3) and that will let me transfer all the songs somehow? I've been looking for a while and cant find a definitive answer.

I'm going to repost FyreWulff's post as it contains lots of good information to help you out here.

FyreWulff's Next Gen Guide To Quickly Expanding Your Rock Band Library

None of this guide requires you to own a 360 or PS3, or even put in a disc. This guide will also only cover methods that work 100% right now; it may be possible to get some other expired exports and offers, but YMMV.

Rock Band 1 Export Key - 5$
Xbox | Playstation
This will give you 54 songs compatible with Rock Band 4. You do not need the Rock Band 1 disc; this key will become a digital download on your One and PS4.
Value: 10 cents per song

Rock Band Blitz - 15$
Xbox | Playstation
This will give you 25 songs compatible with Rock Band 4. And a game! All of Blitz's songs are available individually on the store otherwise. It's likely Blitz will be compatible with the One's Backwards Compatible mode as well.
Value: 60 cents per song

Rock Band 2 Harmonix Pack - Free
Xbox | Playstation
This is a pack of Harmonix songs from Rock Band 2 that were given to everyone for free!
Value: Freedom cents per song

Rock Band Track Pack Volume 2
Check your favorite retailer, new copies only
A physical disc release that contained a collection of 20 Rock Band DLC songs that also includes a marketplace code for that disc's console family. Notably, it's the only way you can now obtain Snow ((Hey Oh)) by RHCP, which was pulled from the store due to license expiration, making it worthwhile to get this song pack. You only need to redeem the code from the manual to obtain the songs.

Value: 65 cents per song . Average price of the Track Pack is 13$

Various Free Songs
These songs are free on the store for promotional reasons.

Still Alive [X | P]
Am I Crazy [X | P]
Charlene [X | P]
I Still Believe [X | P]

Rock Band: Green Day
While the game's export has officially expired (it may or may not work for you at this point), the entire disc setlist is available on the store as regular DLC in album packs and singles.

Songs Re-released
Rock Band 1: The covers of Run to the Hills [X | P] (non-export) and Tom Sawyer [X | P] (export) have the original artist studio versions available on the store, which are linked. Wanted Dead Or Alive [X | P] is available as RB3 DLC. It's also available as part of the Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits Pack [X | P].

Rock Band 2: Alive (export expired) has a Live [X | P] version on the store. Give It Away [X | P] (non-export) and Spoonman [X | P] (non-export) are available as DLC singles or via the Blitz export. Livin' On A Prayer [X | P] is available as RB3 DLC. It's also available as part of the Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits Pack [X | P].

Lego Rock Band: Fire (export expired) has a Live [X | P] version on the store as a single or as part of the "Are You Experienced" album pack [X | P]. We Will Rock You [X | P] and We Are The Champions [X | P] are available as RB3 DLC in the store. You Give Love A Bad Name [X | P] is available as RB3 DLC in the store. It's also available as part of the Bon Jovi: Greatest Hits Pack [X | P].

DLC: Fortunate Son [X | P] , Working Man [X | P], Limelight [X | P], and Number of the Beast [X | P] all have a studio version of the song that was released after the cover version. The cover versions are still available on the store, so pay attention to the big "As Made Famous by" when shopping on the store. I've linked the studio versions.

I didn't know I could get RB1 just like that. Definitely going to do that then. I really thought I needed a 360 for it too. What about Rb2?

Has there ever been an official word on when/if the older dlc that's on sale will go back up in price? I'm weighing my options currently. I could just buy a ton of that while it's on sale or pick up the game and get the dlc as I go.

bro that's not an afternoon that's a week. goddam

I had to redownload most of it when I replaced my 360, using the clunky Download History web interface. I figure it will be an afternoon if they've got a good solution for it.

How much total do you have invested on DLC?

Honestly, I can't really say, because things got dicey with the exchange rate for a long time and Microsoft continually moved the goalposts for this sort of thing. I did buy everything at release pricing (so no $1 legacy DLC purchases), and with pack discounts vs. exchange rate price increases + tax factoring in to MSP purchases, I'd say it all still worked out to about CAD$2 a song in the end.

So the answer is too much.

So I have a question regarding exporting of content from the previous generation. I currently have a PS4 band in a box preorder that I am considering changing to the XB1 version because I owned all of the previous Rock Band titles on 360. I exported RB1 and RB2 into RB3 on 360, and bought some, but not a ton of DLC. My question is, is there anything more required of me to be able to access the RB1 and RB2 songs that I exported if I were to buy the XB1 version? I ask because I don't have my 360 or any or the Rock Band discs anymore so if I can't access them then I'll just keep the PS4 preorder, if those songs will be available to me on XB1 because of my previous exports then it would be worth it to switch my preorder.

If you paid for the exports on 360 and use that same account on XB1, you should be good.

If they have a good solution, then it's just one button press to download all songs you've purchased. That's the only acceptable solution, imo. Clicking through hundreds of songs will take forever.

Thanks. I would be using the same Live account so it sounds like it is worth it to switch my preorder. I buy all my 3rd party games on PS4, but with the lack of multiplayer (most of my friends play on PS4) there doesn't seem to be any reason not to go XB1 since I'll have access to tons more songs.

If we have to download everything individually, hopefully the songs will be up a few days before launch so we're not spending time downloading hundreds of songs on launch day.

Any word on the cymbals pack for drums?

Nothing that I have seen.

Can someone help me, I'm trying to buy the Rock Band Song Export Key from xbox.com
I can see "Download to Xbox 360" but when I click on it, I get a white pop-up that shows nothing. I'm not sure if I already own it. I dont think I do, but I can't seem to purchase it either.

Anybody wanna make bets on the news?

My realistic guess is that we get news on dlc plans.

My dream guess is that we get news on RB3 export or online play.

.

ok that makes more sense Lol, I thought you were going to do a play-through of all of them

Is anyone going to be recording the stream? I won't be able to watch it and the PAX Prime stream wasn't saved in the VODs so I'm guessing the same thing will happen here.

Since it's TwitchCon, players will be allowed/able to stream RB4? (lol never that'll never happen...unless the stream allowed just cuts out the music or something)

I'm with you that it's probably DLC plans or something like that.
