Did you not do the guitar tour challenges? It's in one of those...unless they're random for each person.

I beat everything drum first, just started going back and doing some on guitar. I guess I'll have to start at the beginning to unlock the guitar challenges though. ah well.

Holy shit there are soooo many challenges....it's kinda cool how they make up dynamic challenges based upon what DLC you have and if you imported RB1

Yeah, the challenges (and BOTB challenges) are what's going to make this game last a really long time.

Man, FUCK Master Exploder on Expert guitar. I think I just killed my wrist. I got through Chop Suey, but this is giving me problems.
I loved playing Master Exploder! I actually had a lot of trouble with Chop Suey after about 4 tries I finally got the whole alternating quickly between the single notes and chords.

Ohhh, I see!

edit: hit reply too fast...what I meant to add on was, it's worth it, lots of fun guitar stuff, and Master Exploder is awesome :D

Dont play the world tour mode to unlock the songs. Play the challenges.

Have you just been playing World Tour? I unlocked carry on wayward son within the first hour or two via challenges (I think it was challenges anyway)
Yeah, I've been playing World Tour exclusively. I'd do the challenges except:

apparently I can't unlock all the songs through challenges?
there's that, and I've already unlocked most of the songs in the game – I'd be retreading tired roads for a while.

Though I'm curious: in challenges, do you have to actually beat said challenges in order to unlock the songs, or can you just unlock access to Dream Theater and call it a day. In World Tour I believe you have to actually beat the songs (else I'd have Peace Sells), and if it's the former I'm dropping WT like a wet sock.

You'd hear the spooging if they were. I'm guessing it won't be up until the PS3 launch.
I would think we'd hear about the 20 songs sometime within the next few days, whether it's the track list or date of the songs or even just new info on the special 20 song website. Said website says "check back in a few days", and it'd be a bit of a dick thing for Harmonix to mean "check back every few days for the next month!"

Playing Rock Band 2 really makes me want Bon Jovi and Pearl Jam DLC, though. And Guns N Roses. Especially Guns N Roses. They tease Sweet Child 'O Mine for god's sake!

Yep. I haven't tried the BOTB today, but last night I couldn't connect to the Rock Central server. Hope that's fixed up.

You could always drop the difficulty down to Hard a just to clear it. That's what I did on the last Drum challenge and I'm sure it'd work in WT.

access to and it unlocks.

Anyone else having issues with their Les Paul deploying Overdrive in RB2? I went back and tested it with GH3 and it worked fine, but in RB2 sometimes it deploys on its own or doesn't deploy at all.

nothing for that that I've seen. it's cool that your character moves between instruments (i.e. you don't have to create a new guy to switch from guitar to drum to singing, you can always use your same guy). it should have always been like that.

There is a guitar and vocals challenge with the icon that they teased us with, but I haven't tried it to see if there are special animations, etc.

I don't have a mic stand and singing with the XBL headset is not very effective...

I find when using my Les Paul in RB (and RB2) that you need to hold it fairly parallel to the ground in order for it to not trigger star power. Holding it at a slight angle I find will give you a lot of "automatic" overdrives.

ROFLCOPTER.
Sleepwalker came up in a Mystery Set List in one of the starter cities. Yeah... that's a great match for Bad Reputation.
I did way better than normal, though. Failed at 67%.

That's from Jeff over at Giantbomb.com. I'm not sure how you perfect it either but who knows. The workaround of not playing an instrument with no-fail works for now, I suppose.

Amplitude had it.

The thing is, a lot of these things are just plain random. I got Peace Sells in a mystery playlist after Who Are You, and...

I got Green Grass and High motherfucking Tides after Bad Reputation and Next to You, when I was attempting to get my "sound guy" (so I can apparently access new locations). I'll try what you're suggesting for songs that are known ahead of time, but sometimes you just get screwed on Expert doing a set that was supposed to be moderately doable.

Wasn't Harmonix supposed to implement a blacklist in RB2 so you can choose ridiculous songs like GGaHT to not appear in random setlists? Whatever happened to that?

I imagine "have it perfected" is a nice way of saying "ship date was comming and we didn't care enough to work on it".

Seems like a lot of features we were promised didn't make the cut. Exactly how much did Microsoft pay them to rush the game out like this?

I bet we see a big patch around the time of the PS3/Wii launch.

I bet the earliest we'll see these things implemented is RB3. Other than the music store and the export feature (both which benefit hmx), they never patched in any significant features. I don't see why this wouldn't be the same with RB2.

Crap, got the game yesterday and had a blast going through World Tour. I even downloaded a bunch of new tracks and did the RB1 license transfer, ending my session at 1 AM. Of course, my console finally red rings on me when I try to resume my progress today. :lol

Wow, um, Pinball Wizard vox just pulled a Gimme Shelter on me. The tone I'm used to singing is totally different from the one being charted.

Sad face. :(

Quickplay shows the score for whichever instrument you're playing. If you play a song on guitar there's a score for that and if you go in with vocals there's a seperate score for that. I believe there was a question about that earlier. I think it counts towards your career score too. If nothing else quickplay counts to your career score for local players. No checkmarks or any indication what difficulty the song was played at, like others said D:

The GF hoped on and we went to quickplay and it had my drums scores on displayed. I shoulda checked, it could be displaying the highest score of any band (counting my solo drums as a solo band), but I'm not sure. Unreasonably confusing nonetheless.

Everyone keeps calling this a viable workaround...but why would you want to listen to the tracks with the crowd constantly booing?

For those of you who can't understand why you'd want a jukebox mode, it's the same reason you'd want to have your MP3s playing during a party. Or, you own a store and you have Rock Band running and you don't want to keep hearing the same three small sections of songs over and over and over again.

Jesus, with a few notable exceptions, the beginning of the track list is fucking terrible.

I like the overall track list a lot, but it seems nearly every song I hate is in the first 20 or so you unlock.

I was never the one who was violently opposed to ["I Kissed A Girl"]. I can't recall exactly who that was. I merely dislike it.

While the rest of you lot were up all night trying to get your sweaty mitts and flippers on RB2 I was up all night playing a board game. Hah! Suck it electronic entertainment I have found your weakness and you will fall to my chits and dice!

The best part, of course, was Sunday afternoon when my landlord decided to just wander through my apartment (with his entire damn family) without asking me while I was asleep. I mean, apparently he rang the doorbell, but when I didn't answer he just let himself in and then proceeded to leave all the doors open. He does with at least once a month because he can't seem to understand that when he rents out his house he kinda stops getting to use the backyard. Especially when it means that he has to walk through my apartment to get there. And he never, ever walks through the apartment upstairs either, always mine. This shit has been going on probably once a month since we moved in here almost two years ago. At least once he did this while we weren't even home. I'm pretty certain this is very illegal, but until I nicely confronted him about this being a huge invasion of my privacy I could never seem to get him to understand that this is really unwelcome. I mean, fuck, even if I'm home I don't want strangers wandering back and forth through my house! And showing up to do so without calling.

When are the 20 DLC songs going to be released? I thought it was supposed to be available at launch.

No. You and a few other people just keep assuming that it would be available at launch. I've said this before, but Harmonix has never, ever fucking said that. Stop assuming people! The only time frame they've ever given is "before the end of the year".

This is as bad as the people assuming that it was just something they could buy in the store too.

So let me summarize:

-20 tracks
-Only for people who bought Rock Band 2 (code on back of manual; it's like downloadable on-disc content)
-Coming out "before the end of the year" and not a moment sooner

I doubt we'll get a patch. Wasn't this the exact same problem we had with RB1? Where they promised stuff like online BWT and then never delivered it or patched it in? They just released a full-price new game with the fixes made and a whole new set of things they promised, but never managed to get in.

change your locks. You are in the right to do so. You don't even have to inform him. When he does try to come in and can't, he'll ask you about it. You just say 'yeah, I kept noticing signs of people coming into the place without my knowledge, so I changed the locks'.

Passive-aggressive, yes, but effective.

Read your post right above yours...the so-called promises aren't. They never promised BWT, they never promised Jukebox mode, they never promised Nevermind.

At most, they mentioned these, or showed these in a build of the game with a major warning of THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, FEATURES MAY NOT BE REFLECTED IN THE FINAL PRODUCT.

Went to three Best Buys, two Gamestops, Circuit City and Target -- no drums (I'm in Boston). Fucking hell. I was honestly more excited to get a new set (I have ELs that frequently drop notes) than to get RB2. I guess I'll play a bit, but it's just going to feel tainted now.

Go to Harmonix's offices. Stand outside and hold aloft a boom box with a mix tape of the RB2 setlist. This will please me greatly. A trench coat would also be an ideal accessory.

Would have been even better if someone did this on Friday or so before the release.

Eye of the Tiger...How I love thee!!! Also I was thinking of picking up the new drums? What is everyone's impressions of them over the RB1 drums? How is the battery life?

Yeah, but I'm far more passive than aggressive. He has, in general, been very nice and it really just seems like he doesn't understand how intrusive he's being. I spoke to him nicely, but firmly about it and I think he got the message and said it won't happen again.

Having spoken up for myself finally if it ever happens again I will simply have to tell him that this isn't at all acceptable and I'll be taking it up with the tenant's board.

Another reason is because of how hard it was to find the shitty place we're living now. We desperately want to move for many reasons, but we can't really afford to right now. As such since our landlord seems to like us and has never even tried to raise our rent by the legally allowable amount we try to stay on his good side.

Frankly, before it was just really annoying, now it's gone a bit too far.

Very true. My point is mainly that it has happened before and I'm pretty damn certain that we won't get a patch for it. It was also a bit along the lines that this year's model is, in many ways, a number of the things we were told and expected we'd be getting last year. I predict that next year will probably be much the same. If Harmonix have a failing it's how this seems to keep happening, if they have a failing. :D

How are they blocking your console connection? If it's by MAC address, just set the MAC of the Xbox to your PCs MAC. Unless you're telling me they block all ports aside from standard web ports.

I don't know how they do it. I think it has something to do with the fact that each computer that uses an internet connection within residence has to have it registered, before you can go on the campus network.
