Confession time. The Who tracks from Live at Leeds are my least-played songs, by far. Yes, less than Staind, 30 Seconds to Mars, At The Gates... anything. I hate them. Hate, hate, hate.
Summertime Blues is the least offensive, since it's a cover anyway.

Speaking of grabbing pitchforks...

Woo! Downloading some of this week's stuff. Megadeth is a given. Getting the whole album.

"Hands Down" and "She's a Handsome Woman" are awesome songs too, so hopefully they're fun to play.

Painkiller is a terrible, terrible "final" song for this game. Between how annoying the song is to listen to, and how annoying it is to play on guitar... UGH.

I love playing the Bon Jovi song on drums. I don't know why it gets me so hyped :lol

That jagged winter whatever song sucks my ass. Why didn't they just put the postal service in if they wanted this type of son? blechhhh

Dumb question: are band logos used in-game at all (as a back-drop at a venue or something), or are they only used for menus/profiles? Just wondering; mine looks good on the white preview screen when creating it, but hideous when looking at it on my band's profile.
shows up on drum kits and stuff sometimes.

Has anyone else noticed that the RB2 drums:

1. Don't come with a headset dongle.

2. Have an "instruction book" that refers to the RB1 drums on the entire last page? Like it's talking about the quick release on the usb cable and shit.

Does this mean the wired headsets are unusable on them?

Yeah, unless you have the dongle from RB1.

* I'm not trying to start a conspiracy or anything. I'm just saying mine didn't come with one.

The guitar and drums don't come with them.

New headsets don't need them so they did not include them this time. Good thing I still have all my old ones.

You clearly have not played the Norman Greenbaum song yet. The drums in the Dylan song shit all over the drums from Spirit in the Sky.

But I do agree about Feel the Pain. By far the best drum song I've played yet. I'm afraid to do Teenage Riot on expert though :D
Oh yeah. Spirit in the Sky sucked a lot too. Other than those though the setlist is pretty consistently enjoyable.

The 360 has a new headset? News to me.

HMX needs to stop being stingy and put the official headset port on their 360 gear. Microsoft should've made it a requirement of them.

Yeah the new one doesn't have the bulky plastic bit on the connector, instead it has inline volume control and mute.

PS3 don't got it. Whine whine whine.
I'm just saying, if it's good enough for Red Octane to put the official headset port on their controllers.....

I do own a couple of original headsets as well as a couple of the newer ones and I use whichever one I pick up first.

Has this happened to anyone:

THE TOMS STOPPED WORKING ON THE WIRELESS DRUMS? Kick works fine, buttons work fine...just the toms stopped.

Also, can you get double bass? Can you just plug in an old kick pedal or will something be made available later?

The songs are up for preview on the PS3 store.
All That Remains still don't work.
?
I bought All That Remains last week and have been playing them all week.
Great fun on drums and vocals.

Weird, I didn't try from the PSN store, but from inside Rock Band, they're "PURCHASED" but not really.
I have no intention of buying it, though.

Is there an official website for Rock Band 2 bands? The site for the original Rock Band doesn't seem to work with RB2, and it was kinda crummy anyway.

they mentioned on the site somewhere that the 2.0 version of the site would launch soon. Probably next month I'd assume

It's likely going to be DLC as well.

Though... live music? Really? Why can't I have my original master for Back in Black?

What sort of pack is it ? CD + t-shirt + songs in RB ...

I don't think the RB songs will be disc-based. Maybe with a code ?

I don't think so. Walmart is apparently making an event out of the release of the new AC/DC album (Black Ice) since they have it as an exclusive in the USA.
Those are probably all separate products that they'll be selling.
My guess on the Rock Band expansion would be a standalone expansion disc with an export feature. (code on manual style)
Note "products" and "program" as well as the price for just the album.

I hadn't listened to Live at Donington since it was new. On review, the songs seem remarkably close to the album versions in terms of the quality of the performances, especially compared to the aural atrocity that was the live version of My Generation. Hopefully they can minimize the crowd noise further for the game. I'm bitterly disappointed that this is what they're doing with their AC/DC exclusive, but I may buy it now. Last night, I was definitely opposed to spending money on it.

IGN is a review of the Stage kit. I almost wish it was out for PS3. It could give an awesome atmosphere to RB parties.

Thanks for the link. I've had this on preorder for over six months now. :oP

I'm still a bit skeptical about how closely it matches the music and it's quality but I'm definitely looking forward to a closer look. The marketing on this this is horrendous. There's almost no information out there at all about this. Even the company's website doesn't even list it.

Does anyone know if the Ion set has a headset jack?

Spirit in the Sky is awesome. It's a blues shuffle, something Rock Band has been sorely lacking and something every drummer should learn. The game needed non-rock beats.

I feel I'm coming around to this position, too. There are 26 more songs than RB1, but I think that might be the amount of songs I never want to play again.

Absolutely. Spirit in the Sky and Tangled up in Blue are two of the most interesting drum songs in the game, and it's no coincidence that they're not standard rock beats.

Overall, I find the Rock Band 2 tracklist to be far more technical than Rock Band 1. It's like Rock Band 1 was more for people who listen to music, and Rock Band 2 is more for people who play music. There are more guitar lines that focus on strum patterns instead of fretting, there are more drum lines that focus on complex rhythyms rather than complex fills, and there are more vocal lines designed to work close harmonies rather than stretched melodies.

I can see it being a less popular track list, but I like it. It has a lot of what RB has been lacking up til now, and since we're keeping pretty much everything that we've had, there's little reason to complain.

Also: Rob the Prez-O-Dent kicks all ass.

For me personally the number of songs in the game that I TRULY love playing is at 34. That is definitely above the actual number of same songs in RB1. So while RB1 "might" have had a higher ratio of good/great songs to crap (IMHO), RB2 has an actual higher count of songs I enjoy. For me that's a win.

For the record, GHWT has always interested me much less than RB2, and from a gameplay standpoint even still does. BUT, running that same list on GHWT and even taking out cross over songs, GHWT currently stands at 38 songs I am really looking forward to... go figure.. :)

edit - though I know I have much different tastes than many in this thread so ymmv (Foo Fighters for example, I could stand never seeing another song from for the rest of my days)

It has just hit me that a Scissor Sisters pack would be awesome

I Don't Feel Like Dancin'
Take Your Mama
Filthy/Gorgeous

Guitar/Drums would be great in all 3 :)

I now want Scissor Sisters, Queen, ABBA and U2 Harmonix!!!

NO MORE METAL FOR FUCK SAKE!!

There's no question about this for me. I love almost all the new functionality and flexibility they added to the game, but the soundtrack is just lacking. When I look at what will be in GHWT, I have to wonder what Harmonix was thinking.

same i feel like this setlist is possibly the worst in a music game so far. maybe the bonus 20 download songs will bring some awesome but right now it feels like chore trying to get through the tour mode.... everytime i play a mystery setlist and see that my singer is a hippie i bail the fuck out. fuck the fans i cant play the shit anymore.

im close to shelving the game and waiting for GH:world tour.

Yeah, Scissor Sisters would be fantastic.

ABBA still sucks, for life.

Hmmm, ok, I got curious....to be perfectly honest, Rock Band 2's set list didn't grab me as fast as the first one did. There were some major absences (KISS, Rolling Stones, etc) and RB's list had a lot of instant gratification tracks. But more and more I'd find myself hitting random track, and then cancelling out because I just didn't like the songs. I'm not doing that as much with Rock Band 2's list.

In any case, I just glanced over the lists, and this is what I've come up with...

Number of songs in Rock Band that I wouldn't cancel after selecting them in random play:
32

Same for Rock Band 2:
61

Of course, that second number may change after living with these songs for 6 months, but I don't think it'll chance by that much...Still, I'm rather surprised that it was almost double the number. I'd like to say it was because I got sick of RB's songs, but a lot of them I never really liked to begin with (Nirvana, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Strokes, Weezer, etc).
