I got to 92% on Visions and then my hand literally started cramping up. I was pissed. And the song blows harder than anything anyone has ever suggested for DLC in this thread.

Dumb question: are band logos used in-game at all (as a back-drop at a venue or something), or are they only used for menus/profiles? Just wondering; mine looks good on the white preview screen when creating it, but hideous when looking at it on my band's profile.

They appear on the bass drum, and with Battle of the Band screens. Don't know about anywhere else.

Other than Painkiller and Visions, top tier drums seem MUCH easier in this game. I beat Everlong on my third of fourth try and I'm sure I'll be able to beat Peace Sells as soon as I get a dependable pedal (my current one keeps slipping off the track and is snapped in two places). Since I'm tired of reapplying the duct tape, I'm going to get the RB2 set as soon as I see it in stores.

Got it today!

That Bob Dylan song has to be the least enjoyable drum song I've ever played, Silver included. Wow. It just fucking sucks.

The Fleetwood Mac song caught me off guard. Really awesome drum chart for that song. Had a great time playing it.

Feel The Pain fucking rules.

Played the Megadeth album just now, holy crap are the nuts on guitar. Devil's Island first solo is just brutal...

if I could just get passed it (which I won't. Ever.) I know I can beat the song.

Only beaten Wake Up Dead... just barely. :(

I just saw my logo on a banner behind the drummer in a set I was doing. I think I've seen it on some tv screens as well.

I personally havent gotten to Visions yet in the game, but watching the videos of it, what is everyone's problem? Its a lame death metal song(sounds more like parody)but has an insanely hard instrument track. I dont remember quite as much hate for an even shittier song called Through The Fire and the Flames on GH III. Both are bad, but not the level of bad most are making it out to be.

All these modes complicate my poor brain. It would be a lot easier if I could play the damn game >:(
You probably have this down by now, but, just in case (and if anyone else is still working it out)...

There are two 'career' modes in RB2, and they can be played either solo or with a band.

First, there is the "Band World Tour". This is the same as the multiplayer career found in RB1, with the gigs in different cities, the collection of fans, and the hiring of staff. Biggest difference is that now you can do it solo or progress in it online (you take your band online, and have 'stand-ins' join you).

The second 'career' mode lies in the challenges. Each Challenge is a setlist of typically 3-5 songs, and are separated into a familiar tier system. There are two types of challenges, which I'll call 'main' and 'extra'. Main Challenges use the on-disk songs. Extra challenges are made up of a selection of on-disk, exported, and DLC tracks.
The Main challenges are organized by instrument. One each for the four individual instruments, and one for a 'full band'. Complete a main challenge, and you'll unlock the next tier of challenges in that category. You'll also unlock the 'extra' clannges for the tier you played.

Confusing? Probably, but here's an example:
Beating Tier 2 Bass Challenge opens the Tier 3 Bass Challenge as well as opening the Tier 2 extra challenges.

The only exception is that there is no Tier 1 Bass Challenge. Instead the Tier 1 Guitar Challenge opens both the Tier 2 Guitar Challenge as well as the Tier 2 Bass Challenge.

yeah being completely honest, Visions isn't the funnest song to play. But it certainly helps you enjoy it and get into it a hell of a lot more when you can rock out to the music itself

How do you unlock songs quickly? Is tour challenge faster than unlocking songs in BWT?

I sort of wish there was a solo tour mode again, or at least an option to let experts have all songs in a quicker fashion. At least in RB1, when you go through solo tour you know you're going to be getting all the songs. Even after beating all the drum challenges I still haven't unlocked all the songs yet.

Possible AC/DC disc expansion? If true, hopefully we can install it to the hard drive some how. Or maybe the expansion is just for Wii/PS2?

It's likely going to be DLC as well.

Though... live music? Really? Why can't I have my original master for Back in Black?

Yes, the challenges are the fastest way of unlocking things. And, once again, the challenges ARE the solo tour.
If you want to do a solo drum tour, just do the drum challenges. Same goes for guitar, bass, and vocals. The songs will be ordered by difficulty in their instruments.

I could accept Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson... maybe Waylon Jennings, but braindead fucks like Brooks and Dunn? Fuck that.

Ugh... I hate listening to concert recordings, and they're even worse in Rock Band.

Yeah, but a bunch of songs are left out of the solo instrument challenges.

Marathon challenges are the quickest way to unlock the entire setlist.

As I said I've already completed the drums challenges(save for painkiller and visions that I've yet to complete in impossible drum challenge) and yet I'm still missing a bunch of songs from RB2. Like Peace sells for example.

Are you sure you are doing the Marathons? I'm pretty sure Peace Sells was in Impossible Marathon 01.

Edit: Here's a post from Score Hero that show what each Marathon unlocks.

Each difficulty tier is broken up into two 6 song Marathons.

more shit DLC? good job HMX

*sigh*
Brooks and Dunn could be pretty good, I liked the Jimmy Buffett pack a lot. Even still, they'd be fun to sing and it'd make way for the Dixie Chicks in RB, so it has secondary benefits too.

Seriously. Who cares about AC/DC.
What music do you like?

Actually, don't answer, who cares about your opinion.

I don't know...I have to say Angus' solo in the live version of Back in Black is superior to the album version...

Maybe, maybe so, but the vocals in the Back in Black Doningtons version are utter shit compared to the studio recording on the Back in Black album.

Besides, there's no excuse for not having the original version, BiB was remastered and Let There Be Rock in RB is the original recording. Oh wait, speaking of Let There Be Rock, they're going to want us to pay $2 for a live version of something we already have, aren't they.

Through the Fire and Flames is an awesome song.

Visions is a sucky song, imo. But, it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. I like the genre, but not that particular song.

Or, are we talking "bad" as in "no fun to play." Because, I can't play Through the Fire and Flames and I'm sure I can't play Visions.

AC/DC would be awesome. I think they'll probably put it up on the store as well as sell it on disc. We've got some good stuff in the pipeline. The tough part is being patient (especially as a PS3 owner).

Oh yeah, what does everyone think what DLC is going to be announced Friday?

Actually, I'm going to predict that Brooks and Dunn pack along with the Offspring pack.

In freestyle mode, are you able to play over songs that are in the game? And, if you are, can you turn off the drum track from the song?

I'm expecting ...hmm...

Metal is a bit played out.
80s had a flash for a bit.
Punk hasn't had a pack in a while.

I'm expecting another Punk Rock pack, but HOPING for Country Rock.

And keeping with the pace for 500, I expect a Weird Al song out of left field.

Feel The Pain fucking rules.

You clearly have not played the Norman Greenbaum song yet. The drums in the Dylan song shit all over the drums from Spirit in the Sky.

But I do agree about Feel the Pain. By far the best drum song I've played yet. I'm afraid to do Teenage Riot on expert though :D

No, because this time you'll get the shitty Brian Johnson version. Much different than the superior Bon Scott version. (Or was Donington before Johnson?)
