heh. same here. Interestingly enough, I'm not looking for videos of gameplay and the charts, but rather the game modes and the menus...

A question for those with the game:
- what does options -> manage data (from the main menu) allow you to do?

Same thing as in #1, it lets you delete / rename bands and characeters.

holy shit, is that actually in the game? Do you get that for 1337 stars or for beating the endless setlist? :lol

What's so hard about Chop Suey? You just need to strum fast, hold down the main fret, and tap the alternating fret. I beat it on my first try on expert and I'm not that good a RB player.

I don't know about that setlist, but when I first passed 1 million fans the game gave me 1,337,000 fans.

I have no problem beating that song, but I HATE that fast alternating portion.

Also, I remember a while ago they teased a Challenge Icon with a guy singing and playing guitar at the same time. Anyone come across that yet?
Yeah, I unlocked it. It's a setlist of:

Lump
E-Pro
Cool For Cats
Pump It Up
Bad Reputation
Let There Be Rock

Requires a vocalist and an instrument. I think there might be more once you finish it.

Just paid the $4.99 to transfer over the RB songs, and I'm inclined to think it was money well spent. I really dig having a massive song list, and I like how they use icons to clearly specify a song's origins (RB/RB2/DLC). I haven't really touched the game all weekend because the weather's so amazing and I've been spending as much time as I can outside, but I sure hope to go nuts with it for a spell tonight...

I was hoping challenges would be more interesting then just yet another list of songs you have to play. I was hoping for "play 5 solos in a row" or something actually different. Infinite Setlists making me play 20+ songs that I've played a million times already is not all that appealing.

Can anyone confirm that one of the challenges is a linear setlist of all the songs that you would play through like the RB1 Single Player?

I still think that having to play through WT alone would be a bitch to unlock all the songs. Plus I like having them in order. If I jump from the Bassline Challenge to the Drummer Challenge its totally going to be a different beast.

My Rock Band 2 disc is unreadable now. I took my disc over to my friends house, and she went to plug the microphone into the back USB Port when the disc was spinning. She lifted the back Xbox up slightly to plug it in, and then the disc went unreadable. Awesome. Hoping Best Buy's return policy is awesome :(

Yeah, that is a shame. Me and the girlfriend have made our own game where we go to practice mode, pick a song and see who gets the highest % in the solo. I'd like a mode like that. "Hit over 80% on this song's solo" or "hit all OD sections", etc.

The Battle of the Bands tasks are closer to the 'different play'. The bass groove battle, for instance, is purely a streak challenge. Forget points, just see what the longest continuous streak you can pull off over three songs. There was a guitar one as well (using just Bodhisattva) and a drum one (using just Panic Attack).

I could see them doing a solo battle similar to what you mentioned, simply because they do have the ability to play just sections of a song (from the practice mode).

I didn't try battle of the bands cause I play single player and I don't have the 360 connected to the internet right now. So its kinda useless, as far as I've been led to understand.

You do need to be connected for it, but there are BOTB challenges that are for solo players only.

Alright. I've unlocked what I'm pretty sure is all the songs, and I can officially say that Rock Band 1 had such a superior setlist. In Rock Band 2, almost every other song that comes up in the "Challenging Random Setlist" gigs makes me cringe, while in Rock Band 1 the only songs I really couldn't stand were the Bonus Tracks.

Let's hope they stop releasing fucking metal in these DLC weeks from now until the end of the year. More Classic Rock, more Alternative, more Indie even. Just no, more, metal.

No one is forcing you to get all the dlc, maybe some people like metal. I know I do...

e: ^^^ yeah, no more metal unless it's metallica, iron maiden, or crazy train or iron man. I thought the choices for RB2 were good, but I've had enough.

So I was asking around, and someone who is apparently "in-the-know" (dunno if it's true) told me that Misery Business was licensed exclusively by Neversoft. He then said it was supposed to be released alongside the Serj Tankian and Black Tide songs, but was replaced with Crushcrushcrush at the last minute, hence the DLC announcement for that week being delayed from Friday to Monday.

I don't know if it's true, could easily be BS, but there you go.

For me, each week of Metal is a wasted week. I understand I'm not being forced to buy Metal (although the like 10 Metal songs on the Rock Band 2 disc I was kinda forced into buying), but I would much rather they be replaced every week with better songs.

And for me each week of old hippy garbage is a waste, woo different tastes!

So I beat Visions on drums earlier today. 90%. WOO.

and aside from a few parts, I think the song is a lot of fun to play. you people are nuts.

god I love this game and can't wait for tuesday.

I'm a fan of metal, and I'll agree that we've gotten enough metal DLC lately. I want more classic songs, something along the lines of Journey.

Rock Band 1 had about 10 worthwhile songs on guitar. I've enjoyed watching YouTube videos of Rock Band 2 more than I enjoyed playing through Rock Band 1's solo guitar game.

The second sentence has the spa.bin list as a theoretical source, but the first one has no evidence.

I spent the weekend tracking down as many RB2 songs as I could find and I have to say that their track list is much more fun to listen to, at least. Stuff like Lush and that Sonic Youth song and Silversun Pickups are quite an exciting direction to go in.

I really like the RB2 tracklist, both to listen to and (eventually) play. It makes RB1 look like a beta.

You know, stuff like Deep Purple, Boston, Foreigner, The Who, Steve Miller Band...

Hippie Garbage all around...

How the hell is any of that "hippie garbage?" You couldn't even name a legit hippie band like Greatful Dead at least.

It could very well be because I played the RB1 song SO MANY times that I'm probably sick to death of a lot of them on a fundamental level and it's hard to be objective, but there are both cool new types of music and some really great fundamental classics like Any Way You Want It, Eye Of The Tiger, that kind of fun stuff.

ETA: Also Alex Chilton is among the best songs on Earth.

I hope not, I'd like to play it, as the track clearly has been in the works... though surely if HMX had been given the masters to work from they'd, oh I don't know, be told by the record label they are allowed to use 'em and there's no exclusivity.

I though my previous post made it obvious I wanted more classic rock. I just wanted to assure him that what I was interested in for Rock Band could never be considered "Hippie Garbage".

You people without avatars\I screwed up avatars throw me off. I always think it's the same person posting.

Believe me I'd love to change my avatar, just to help set me apart. Mine got changed right after I registered, even though my avatar was below the size limits. Maybe the .gif was too big...

To add to the people bitching about how there's too much metal, or there's too much 'old hippie shit', I'll just say you guys are lucky.

Me? I want more 80's Sunset Strip metal. Poison, Warrant, (old) Motley Crue, White Lion, W.A.S.P., Queensryche, Lita Ford, Scorpions, Cinderella, SKID FUCKING ROW. Why the hell don't we have SKID ROW yet???

Youth Gone Wild
Piece of Me
18 and Life
Sweet Little Sister
Slave to the Grind
Monkey Business
Livin' on a Chain Gang

Youth Gone Wild
Piece of Me

Sweet Little Sister
Slave to the Grind
Monkey Business
Livin' on a Chain Gang
I Remember You
Fixed.

Primus are my current "what the fuck?!" band.
It'd be hard to transfer a lot of their songs to a Rockband setting. Lots of songs where there are long periods of no guitar. The bass for the songs would probably kick all sorts of ass though.

I'm with you on Poison, old Crue, Scorpions, and Skid Row. Why isn't Rock You Like A Hurricane in RB? Loved it in GH3.

I wouldn't want an album or anything. Defy The Laws of Tradition, Too Many Puppies and
Winona's Big Brown Beaver. That's my dream.
